Since the very first step into Paniolo we felt that we were on a vacation. The sweetest receptionist in the world, Kanye, gave us a room with a spectacular view (that I traded for a lesser view not knowing that perfection doesn’t exist). We got a ginormous apt. with every comfort that you could desire. The resort is placed in a surrealistic desertic area, 20 minutes away from beautiful beaches. Beware that pretty much everything closes at 8pm (😱), and there’s not many options to buy groceries. We ended up being on a diet, but if you have kids you want to pack up that big fridge, especially if you like watching spectacular sunsets…
We looooooved the Paniolo! It’s the gift that keeps on giving! But I had a hard time sleeping because of the he dry air. Not sure if it’s just the desert or if the air conditioner’s filter needs to be changed. Bring a humidifier with you if you are as sensitive as I am.

If you do not need to be right next to the beach, this is the perfect accomodation for a really good price on Big Island. You could still see the ocean from the balcony of a 2nd/3rd floor apartment (which we had) and good beaches are only about a 15-20 minutes drive away. The Resort has very nice, well-maintained and equipped aprtments. Parking was easy as you have our own reserved parking slot. The pool an recreation area is big and well-maintained. Our kids loved it. We were there in summer at the end of the high season but it never felt crowded. The location is ideal for exploring Northwest and West Big Island. Also, Mauna Kea is easy to reach. For the Volcano National Park we used another accomodation in Hilo because this allowed us to get to the Park early without getting up super early but a day-trip would also be possible from the Resort.
That we could not stay longer.

Pool, location, ground unit. It's always cooler than at the shoreline down the mountain. That's one big reason we like to stay there. Good location by stores, gas station and restaurants. Not too far from the water and other shops. Only a 30 minute drive from Kona Airport.
This unit is showing its age. The bed and a few things were not good. But the General Manager of the resort took care of the issues. One thing, not related to the resort, is that the neighboring golf course is doing some work and it can be noisy from the time to time, but not the fault of the paniolo greens.

This place is not a luxury resort so do not compare them or expect them to do extraordinary tasks. They are a basic clean and simple resort with a nice, competent and well mannered staff. Our building ("D"), was conveniently located across the lot to the pool/game room and around the corner to the main office. The pack of wild turkeys added uniqueness to the stay. However, they can be a nuisance, Simply ignore and don't feed them. Otherwise, they can be fun for you or your kids. Dispose of your garbage properly, because they will peck at the garbage bags and make a mess. There are other pretty yellow birds and red-headed grey birds.
Location is a bit of drive to other places. Climate is dry- warm in the day, chilly/windy at night- not their fault. , but alll this seems to a big island thing.

The room and facility was exceptionally clean. The washer and dryer were in good shape and slightly larger than other apartment washer/dryer combos that we've used at other locations. The pullout bed wasn't amazingly comfortable, but it was good enough that my kid preferred it to the floor or couch which is saying something.
It's honestly hard to think of anything to complain about. If I had to pick something, it would be that the appliances were somewhat dated. But I really must stress: this is the smallest, pickiest thing to consider - it was really a wonderful place to stay. I almost forgot, there are turkeys that will wake you up in the morning. The first day it was a neat experience to see the turkey outside gobbling. The second day it was less fun. They're not nearly as disruptive as the chickens on Kauai though!

Loved everything.
Our kids were locked out of their room around 10:05 pm because of the top security lock, engaging and we were told they would be locked out for the night by security and that no one was around to assist us, so we ended up unscrewing the bolts in order to get in and putting it back in place. Finally got inside the unit a little after 11pm. That was the only issue...there really should be 24 hour staff on such a large property.

Rooms with golf course view and the ocean in the distance were great. Stayed twice, once on upper apt on 2 floors, then again on single level lower floor to accommodate our family member who couldn't do stairs. They were so very accommodating to move us, including all our things, to a lower floor. I can't say enough good things about the helpfulness and understanding of the staff. I found this location on Booking.com, then rebooked for the second stay directly at the front desk for a better discount.

The manager is awesome! The first unit we got was next to very noisy neighbors in a unit managed by a private owner. He moved us to a different room. Made for a much better stay! The units are nice & very comfortable. There were reviews about bugs, etc. Made me think twice about booking. There weren't any bugs. It was clean. The staff is very nice. The location is off the beaten path, but not by much. It's more serene than being in Kailua-Kona or Waikoloa, but you do need to drive pretty much everywhere.
The noisy neighbors next door. People can be so inconsiderate! If your kid can't be quiet during quiet hours, close the patio doors, move the kid to an inside location away from walls, teach him to live in society. Don't let your kid run around at midnight. Don't sit on your patio and entertain your kid by making loud bird noises at 6am. Noise travels. Think about others.

Very quiet. Good dollar value when compared to other properties in this district. Spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed. Kitchen had all the basics. Exceptionally friendly staff! The turkeys strutting around the property, including the chicks, were fun to watch.
We needed to drive everywhere. Great price for the district, so would stay there again if we decided to stay in Waikoloa Village.

I like the room and space for my family of 6. Was kind of a bummer that I had to go on the second floor. I did request for a ground floor weeks prior because I had little ones. I also asked if can be in the building near pool. That didn't happen either.
I like everything except wish the pool space was bigger. Had a good amount of people in such a small space. If the pool was bigger that would be a plus. Really just the pool area wish there was two or just bigger.
