Hotel Millwright

Breakfast was delicious, as were all the meals we had at the hotel. They have some excellent chefs. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was huge with a lovely shower. The building is very solid, with high ceilings, and I heard no noise either from the hallway or the floor above me. The staff was uniformly friendly, even those I passed casually on the property took the time to smile and say hello.

The directions from the front desk on how to find our room (where to drive around to) were confusing. Also, it would have been helpful if the entrance near our room had been labeled on the outside in such a way that we could see it from our car.

Hotel was brand new and built with the best of everything. Room furnishings were high quality and reflective of theme. Bed was super comfortable and used the best linens. Bathroom was huge and towels were high quality. EVERYTHING WAS HIGH QUALITY. Everyone was so kind and helpful.

Place could have used more dishes, coffee mugs, water glasses and silver ware. We requested more and got it, but should have been standard. Napkins and paper towels would have been nice. There is a kitchen sink but no dish soap, so that would have been nice.

Did not have breakfast but had wine and dessert in the bar. Like the proximity to shops and restaurants. Loved the mint cake in the bar area. Wonderful bed. Would love to know the mattress brand. Liked the design of the hotel and assimilation of the weaving mill components into modernity. We really liked Frank the bartender. Very personable.

Check in was a bit slow and room was not ready when we arrived. Not a big issue.

This is an on old wool mill remodeled and opened two years ago. It is a good value in a scenic Amana location. Very quiet area. Pleasant staff. The mill made blankets and other products with equiptment powered by a water wheel. Lots of history. Not busy this time of year.

Big rooms with high ceilings. A little challenged for heat on a 11 degree night. Would strongly recommend. The restaurant is high end and overkill for some families but their are other alternatives in Amana or nearby Cedar Rapids.

Absolutely loved Hotel Millwright! The rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds. The halls and sitting areas of the hotel are tastefully decorated with antique equipment from it's days as a woolen mill. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast in the hotel's restaurant and it was delicious and reasonably priced. Such a great place to stay! We definitely will plan another trip there in the future.

Can't think of a thing.

The hotel is about two years old and whoever designed it did a great job. Our room was spacious, and my wife and I loved everything about it. It's location was perfect and everything is within walking distance. The Indigo Room, which is the hotel restaurant, was greatly appreciated since it has gluten-free choices. My wife and I had wonderful meals where she didn't have to worry about her meals which have to be gluten free.

The breakfasts were delicious. We also ate supper here and the carrot soup was fantastic! Both the Merino Harvest Salad and Indigo Wedge were also unique and delicious.

I cannot think of a single thing I did not like. Of all the places we have stayed in our lifetime, this was the most unique. We loved looking at all the antique machinery and memorabilia from the former mill.

Hotel Millwright adds so much charm to an already charming area in the Amana Colonies. I have zero negative things and 120% all good things! You need to stay here and enjoy all the amenities, the super friendly and competent staff and of course, the town itself.

What an outstanding property! We gawked at the design features and remarkable museum quality decorations and historic photos. The room was large and all the extra touches of upscale, upcycled industrial-style items into quality functional objects (wall hooks, lights, etc.) was impressive and inspiring. The parking was easy, the grounds beautiful, outdoor (and indoor) sitting areas were quiet, private, safe and plentiful. An easy walk to everything: the brewery across the street, restaurants and shops. Staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. One of the most pleasant peaceful stays we've experienced anywhere--so glad we stayed an extra day.

One of the few times we can say we wouldn't change a thing. There was nothing to criticize or not like. Maybe if it had a pool? But then there would need to be an 11 category for the rating!

Located right across from the Millstream Brewery and in the location of the old Woolen Mill. Great artifacts decorating the walls throughout the hotel. Many areas, inside and out, to lounge comfortably. Gracious staff in the Indigo Room restaurant and at the front desk. A little expensive for a weeknight stay but did enjoy the extremely clean room. Would definitely stay again.
