I chose this hotel based on the location and the price. We were visiting family in Waukee over Labor Day weekend and the Sleep Inn-Waukee was very convenient to get to from I-80 and from our family's home. The exercise room offered more options than the typical treadmill and bike. There were also exercise balls, medicine balls, and a wide variety of hand weights. The breakfast was consistently good with a variety of choices and the area was kept clean and well-stocked even though there were a lot of guests. The hotel is dog-friendly and I must have seen 10 different dogs over the weekend, but never heard any barking from our room. One woman brought her dog into the breakfast area and the breakfast room attendant was very polite in telling the guest that the dog was not allowed and offered to take care of the dog while the guest got some breakfast. The attendant took the dog for a tour of the 1st floor introducing him to other staff along the way 😆.

The door to the room that we were assigned at check-in did not close securely. We reported that to the front desk and were promptly assigned another room. However, we also noticed that the exterior side door to the hotel also did not latch securely so it could be opened without using a guest room card. While the hotel is not in a high-crime area, more attention could be given to guest security.

Breakfast is a good mix of things and the location works great for us. We have family that lives in Waukee. The pool also works great for my handicap wife and the pool was heated this time. Have stayed in the past and the heating system for the pool wasn’t working. ☹️

We wish you had a clock for the pool area and more handicap rooms.

Close to the interstate, so easy on and off. Seemed to be a very new hotel, so very clean, bright, and pleasant. Breakfast was very good with good variety, Lots of facilities that we did not use but would have been nice if we had had the time. Gas station next door so easy to refuel before we left in the morning.

No restaurants close by. This apparently is a complaint as they had a list of restaurants that were 10 to 15 min drive, but the drive was through all new developments and a little out of the way.

We enjoyed staying here. The staff was great and very accommodating. Room was a little small but very clean and very comfortable. Hotel is fairly new. Breakfast was better than any hotel we stayed at during our 5 days of travel. Just off I80 so was really convenient. Highly recommend.

the rooms were fresh and updated , comfy beds clean - quiet and soaps were pleasant smelling so nice - will stay at these hotels whenever I get a chance for sure

the baseboard was not attaching to the wall in the bathroom that was kind of tacky looking and I was so mad when we got there because we just drove all day long and assumed there would be something to eat but its just by a gas station there is no restaurants in the vicinity we had to drive a few miles to find one that was not good

New, clean, modern & comfy linens & pillows. ice machine on each floor keyless entry gas, coffee place, quick stop food market next door

could use more USB ports for devices towels could be more robust but they were nicely matched throughout, white with no stains & lighter weight which my spouse loves due to a should limitation.

Breakfast was sparse. We spent two nights and the first morning the breakfast wasn’t much. The second morning they at least had some corn flakes out.

There wasn’t much. We did have problems finding any staff members in the morning to talk to. Other than that, we liked the place. when I called to make a reservation for the second visit, the woman on the phone forced me to join the rewards program before she would confirm the reservation. She was way too pushy and not nice.

Very Clean. Great staff in a nice part of the city. Hot Breakfast was nice.

The toilet in our room wasn’t working properly so they moved us to another room. Unfortunately it wasn’t a king bed but rather two queen beds.

Biscuits and Sausage gravy was great! Jimmy Dean bacon egg cheese biscuit good. Liked the Otis Spunckmeier Bluberry muffin. OJ was very good. Milk and Fruitloop cereal good. Perhaps another option of Post Raisin Bran-flakes as an option for adults.

Needed another choice of cereal for adults, granola, Raisin Bran, Total, Shredded wheat, And fresh fruit, bananas, apples, oranges, etc…

Friendly and helpful staff. Incredibly comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast, with a wide range of choices. Warm, clean and well-cared-for property. The pool and exercise rooms were additional pluses. A great value overall!
