Courtyard Kansas City Overland Park/Metcalf, South of College Boulevard

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott because the Hyatt Place had cancelled one of our rooms without notifying us. They said it was because my name was on another reservation so they cancelled one room. I was very upset as I had 4 teenage girls with us and they cancelled their room. The attendant at the front desk thought it would be ok if I left 4 teenage girls alone in the hotel for the evening. The Courtyard Marriott was next door, I quickly booked two rooms online, left the Hyatt Place and went next door. The evening attendant was very friendly and got us checked in quickly as she could see I was very upset. The girls got their room and my husband, son and myself got our room. I even received a complimentary drink for my troubles. The rooms were a nice size, clean, and the beds where unbelievably comfortable. They didn't offer breakfast but had a little Starbucks café in the lobby, with 4 teenage girls who like their coffee, it was an easy decision to get some coffee there and something lite to eat. Great Hotel.

The breakfast was fine, Veronica was excellent at answering any questions we had or additions to our order. We had sausage, egg, & cheese croissant. It was very tasty warm and surprisingly filling. I had it with fruit and my husband had it with the potatoes. Next morning we had bagels and cream cheese. We appreciated that coffee was always available in the lobby. Very quiet, a wonderful relaxing weekend. Check-in was a breeze, Very friendly staff always there to assist.

I wouldn't change anything regarding the interior design, but I would have enjoyed having a full length mirror. Also the luggage stand does not accommodate most pieces of luggage that fold out flat. One side of the rack is higher and would not allow the suitcase to lay flat. , A note for the Bistro. I had the fruit, it consisted of strawberries and red grapes. The grapes, however were not seedless. I think most people would prefer seedless.

The staff was super friendly, especially the bar/restaurant. The location was perfect.

The restaurant/bar had varying/unpublished operating hours, which caused us to miss coffee, breakfast and dinner on 3 occasions during our stay. There should be more than one washer/dryer. The AC in my room rattled. Everything else was great!

The woman at the front desk who checked me in was one of the biggest reasons for the “excellent” rating . Don’t get me wrong, your facilities and rooms are very nice but the customer service was TOP NOTCH! I’m actually more disappointed I didn’t get her name to be able to include it here. My stay was was a getaway-as a mom of 4 kids and a school social worker during one of the toughest school years- so I was taking a night away to re-charge to finish the school year strong. There were many teams staying at the hotel, in town for weekend to tournaments. She went out of her way to ensure I was placed in a more quiet area of the hotel away from the coming & goings of the teams. She even checked in on me to make sure I was satisfied with the location of my room! You don’t get that kind of service these days. It meant a lot and am grateful she was working the front desk the night of my stay!

The location was very centralized to where we were trying to go!

The amount of time it took the bistro to make a simple sandwich. My boyfriend didn't get it till 30 minutes after it was ordered and they were closed when they were making it

Due to corona-19 virus, the hotel was not serving breakfast. Regardless, we usually go out for breakfast when traveling. The location was one of the primary reasons for staying at this hotel. I had prior to retirement I had been transferred to Overland Park and lived in a subdivision not to far south from this hotel location. My wife and I have an annual appointment with an area optimologists that we have gone to us for the past 25+ years and the proximity of his office and good area restaurants make this a convenient location.

The weather was terrible and the roads were "sloppy" but there is little the hotel could do to resolve either of those issues. we had a fast and efficient check in, got a short rest, went out to eat, went back to the hotel to watch the Chief's game, and got up early the next morning for an early appointment. Aside from the roads and the weather, there wasn't much to complain about.

very clean facility. close to all the amenities we needed. would highly recommend.

the pool area was small and overcrowded with guests that we’re having a party, so my son didn’t get to swim.

The best part of the hotel is the location. The walkable score is 100%. You are close to shopping, food, and activities. Breakfast is by order only. Public areas are very clean and well maintained. Also very quiet at night. The beds are amazingly comfortable, upholding the Marriott standard.

The bathroom wasn't as clean as I would like to have it, but it was ok.

No breakfast, there is a "bistro" you can buy coffee or few breakfast items at, but honestly if I'm paying for a hotel I kinda expect breakfast and if I'm going to buy it I'll go elsewhere. But, that's the only down I'd say
