The breakfast was wonderful. Josephine Brown is an asset to your staff. They attended to us wonderfully. I felt like I was royalty. The location was excellent. We especially enjoyed our dog being allowed to attend every event with us. The owner pulled a chair up for our dog to sit with us at our anniversary dinner. It brought happy tears to my eyes. The owner was hospitable, and so welcoming to us. We spent our 49th wedding anniversary there. Excellent!

More golf cart availability, especially for older people or people with disabilities, staying in the cottages. The golf carts seemed more assessable when there were no boats or buses coming in. The people in the cottages seemed to go by the wayside when big tours came through. We hoped that the mansion roof would be repaired for preserving it’s integrity. The house was too beautiful to let that go unaddressed.

The main house, grounds and restaurants were exceptional.

We stayed in one of the cottages and it was very nice inside, however, they are in need of a little TLC. A few other things need to be mentioned; we had a riverside room, but the only thing you get with that is a view of the 40 foot berm along the river and large trucks driving by all night long, it was far from peaceful and when you check in someone has to bring a golf cart to take you to your cottage, but it took him 15 minutes to show up s as no it’s the same process with getting ice, someone has to bring it to you on the cart and after two calls and an hour later it showed up. There are rockets on the porch but we’re extremely dirty as was the fence around your yard. The cottages are not worth the $250 minimum per night.

Amazing gardens. Comfortable and well appointed rooms.

The lobby was a weird experience. The lobby is connected to the museum, but it's strange to have historical mannequins throughout the lobby. The front desk agent was nice but a little difficult to communicate with. The place is very "whitewashed" with little mention of hundreds of slaves that once worked in the historical plantation, with the gift shop video glossing over this and only mentioned 'negros' once as the closest reference. They'll tell you there is more explanation in the museum, but in my opinion they need to go further in explaining the contribution of the slaves and their treatment throughout the grounds.

Absolutely stunning grounds, extremely comfortable and large room, very well appointed. Very kind young gentleman helped us unpack our car and put our things in the golf cart and took us to our room. The tour was lovely, both restaurants for dinner and breakfast were fabulous. Loved all the animals on site, so many rabbits, and black swans with their babies.

Really only one thing. The people where you check in were not friendly, during both check in and check out. The lady when we checked in seemed annoyed, and would barely look up when I walked up to the counter.

I love everything about it here and you would to it's the best it's beauty is amazing and lots to learn here the best of everything the flowers the best place to be even on a hot day lots of beautiful shade when I say beautiful I mean the flowers the trees the birds and ducks black and white swans he even has beautiful baby Pekin ducks and charlie the Cockatoo and peacocks 🦚 and fountains and beautiful statues and the best restaurants The carriage house the Dixie cafe and Burnside and a museum with true stories of plantations of the south and allot of history to learn my advice go early because it's allot to learn and see it's worth every penny. I promise you will love it there so much you will want to tell everyone about houmas house and gardens. But I can go on and on about it. So enjoy the turtle bar also all are my favorites especially brandy Alexander and planters punch and famous mint julep to a hurricane 🌀 and the best beer and champagne 🍾. Enjoy I know I do everytime I go there and the staff is amazing and you will feel safe there it's the best time I ever had it brings tears of joy still to this day the people there are very lucky to work there and have this place to see for work I would say I would love to play any part of houmas house and I enjoy it every time the weddings are amazing to even see on the weekends sometimes you can see and peak on what it would be like to get married there birthday parties and any occasion you can enjoy there at Houmas house.

That it was time to go home lol but you don't have to go home you can actually sleep there at great prices and the best all you can eat breakfast and lunch in Dixie cafe.

Location - there is a direct bridge to the levee of the Mississipi river, which is a plus, because we can get a clear view of the river. Grounds - Beautifully laid out gardens, such a delight to walk through the gardens, enjoy the ponds, peacocks, hens, turtle. The reflection of the Houmas House on the pond at night is spectacular. House tour - Nice tour through the house. Best part is that at night, since the leave the lights on and windows open for the ground floor, we can enjoy looking at all the antiques through the windows at our leisure. Breakfast - This was at Dixie cafe, it was good. Spending a night over here definitely gives us more time to absorb the environment, roam the grounds at night and early morning. We will be back!

The bed was a bit higher I wish there could be a self guided tour of the house, so that we could observe the antiques at leisure, perhaps you can add audio tours, just like a museum. I felt like a lot of information was passed in a short time, I would love to be able to read these as descriptions placed beside the corresponding antiques. Lastly, I think this can be marketed more as a beautiful estate rather than a plantation tour (or else mention in brochures, website that people should also buy separate tickets and tour the River Road Museum). I mention this because a lot of people might just pick Houmas House for their only plantation tour, and a tour of the house will not give them the complete experience that they have in mind. These are just suggestions.

Elegant and private.

Please put glass doors on your showers. For such an upscale property, the shower curtains (even with the lovely dragonflies) are a nuisance. Only one chair in our room (two would have been nice (inside). We saw a snake on the walkway coming back to our room after dinner ... nothing you can do about it but thought you might want to know.

Beautiful room. Great service especially being driven in the golf cart with my luggage by the charming employee, Dayton. Dog friendly. All amenities offered in the room even four bottles of cold water and great coffee choices waiting for you. Comfortable bed with the finest quality sheets. Wonderful toiletries. Quiet. Short walk to a great breakfast and the beautiful gardens of the Houmas House Plantation, an architectural wonder. Did I forget to mention your tour tickets of the house/gardens is included! A stay to die for!

I liked ALL of it!

The breakfast was hot, delicious and offered a variety of options. The location is rural but not too far from stores, shops, restaurants, and other places to see.

The bed was not as comfortable as I expected. We arrived late and weren't clear about where to check in. I thought that I booked a garden view room; however, my room faced the street. Everything else was above expectations. Lovely, relaxing grounds and facilities.

Beautiful grounds, well appointed room, Cecily, the catering manager was top notch putting together a small family reunion.

Older grumpy man in charge of check out almost spoiled the visit. No smile no thank you after spending a sizable sum, and no please come back. He did not spoil everything else but he was very unfriendly.
