From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, just wander down Essex Street and you're in the heart of everything. Plenty of things to go, see and do plenty of places to go eat. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The linens and towels smelled so good and truly provided a lux experience .The bathroom had a nice stall shower and also included a clawfoot soaking tub, so if that's your thing go prepared to soak after a long day of sightseeing. .

It would have been nice to have a little more vegan friendly choices at breakfast. Just something as simple as oat or almond milk for your coffee. Other than that nothing needs to change

For the location, the price was beyond perfect. Right on Essex street, you are with a 20 minute walk of nearly all sites in Salem. With parking just around the corner at the 2nd building, the Cruwen house, we barely had to take the car our entire trip. It was wonderful to be able to go out in the morning to shop and site see, before coming back for a mid-day rest and to get out of the sun. Lots of amazing restaurants and shops right in walking distance, including a great antique/thrift store next door full of treasures. The room was wonderful, and we loved the contact free check in/out, as we were unable to arrive before the front desk closed (10PM). The room include a mounted TV and mini-fridge big enough to store plenty of leftovers or snacks. Plus, all requests to the front desk could be submitted via text including scheduling your breakfast and house-keeping services.

The only real surprise was that our bathroom was not directly connected/inside of the room. Due to the old nature of the building, this was an understandable change. Had the rooms not had ID code key pads, it would have been inconvenient, but since there were no keys needed, having our private bathroom 2 doors down was not too big of an inconvenience. Also, if you have bad knees, please note that there is no elevator. We were only on the 2nd floor so it wasn't a big deal to us, but I can see how that could impact some peoples trip.

Gosh, the breakfast was fantastic. The complimentary wine was a welcoming touch. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the facility itself so fun and historical as well as clean. Also the location is tough to beat, so close to the main drag and everything you could really want. Also the bed was comfortable and the shower was nice and the AC unit was great, etc, so all of those logistics were fantastic as well. We also really liked that the doors used codes instead of keys, so we didn't have to worry about carrying and losing them lol

I mean, it was a bit pricey for a midwesterner but it came with excellent breakfast and wine, and RELATIVE TO THE AREA was not expensive. The location was an easy walk to tons of great restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, exhibits, and even a CVS so it was definitely worth it.

Perfect for us. Curwen House was quaint, old school, a tiny bit gothic, just how you'd imagine a place to stay in famous Salem. It was very clean and tidy too. A great hot shower with good water pressure. A very comfy bed. A little porch out the back with a little table where I read my book in the morning. Breakfast was tasty and the staff were friendly. I've seen people complaining about the walk from the breakfast room to Curwen House... I timed it there and back on our first morning and it took 5 mins each way, allowing time to cross the road too. A bit longer if you were pulling luggage on the cobbles, of course. It would be more difficult if you have any disability effecting walking and there are stairs, so don't book Curwen House if this describes you. But for us, it was perfect. Good walking distance for us to all famous tourist attractions.

One tiny complaint... The fridge in our room was so loud! First night it was clunking like mad and woke me up, I thought is there a ghost?! But then I realised it was the fridge and safely unplugged it for the night. Apart from that, no complaints.

Location was fantastic, we could park and walk everywhere we wanted to pretty much. Room was very nice-clean and spacious. Had what we could have needed in kitchen and nice updated bathroom. Overall very good! Everything very convenient with text etc.

There was construction on the building next door which of course they can't control but would have been nice to know ahead, noisy from the early morning. It's not the inn's fault but we could hear SO much noise from other guests (running around-sounded like they'd come through our ceiling) until 10:30 pm and the text said only to contact for emergency basically after 10. Mattress could be more comfortable in my opinion. Also breakfast choice was quite limited-didn't expect that. I think you should be able to choose from the lighter fair And a main course, not one or the other.

The room was comfortable, and cute. The location was perfect for many of the main attractions in Salem, and within walking distance of major sites. Thoughtful extras such as refillable bottles of water, coffee, tea, sherry, wine, breakfast were provided.

The majority of staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. On the day we were leaving, the front desk staff was a different lady then whom we had previously seen and she very much appeared and spoke as if she would rather be anywhere but there. Hopefully it was just a bad day for her.

I did not have the breakfast as I went to debs diner, But my room was incredibly beautiful and lovely. For just a few dollars more I reveled in the luxury of the whirlpool bath, had myself a nice cup of tea by the fire place while watching some studio ghibli. It was a wonderful relaxing night to follow a beautiful day in Salem! The staff were lovely and the hotel very quiet, it is right in the heart of the city. For a person who has walking limitations, I found the city easily walkable and the lyfts around quite cheap, they also have bikeshare. I called in the morning and was able to park at my room in the morning before check in which was lovely.

I would prefer to be able to check in at the house where I'm at, but thankfully check in was just around the corner so not a big deal at all!

Very friendly and communicative staff. They send you a text before arrival to help you with how to get into your room and order the complimentary breakfast. I assumed it was just an automated system but they actually reply promptly to you if you message back. They have an afternoon wine service that is a great way to mingle with other guests which led to me getting some great info for my sight-seeing!

The complimentary breakfast was nice, but I would have really appreciated it if they had any gluten free options for toast or waffles.

The hotel was quiet and we were close to an exit. I did like the ability to use door codes to come and go this offered an additional layer of security to the premises. The breakfast was really nice and a delightful experience that was a little more intimate that continental breakfasts at big hotels. The staff was helpful and responsive.

Parking was a bit confusing. There isn’t a lot of signage that communicates this information, so even after the staff gave me a map and explained a route, it is difficult to determine where is the correct place to park.

Staff was great, room was great

The price was way too high for a one night stay, however it's not just your business, it's the whole industry wide. The rooms don't grow with inflation so why would the price fluctuate so dramatically each visit? It is a great place and I wish I could stay with you more when I visit for work, but with rates so high I am forced to stay in other towns at cheaper hotels. I'm a small business owner and simply can't afford to bring my business to town for more than a day at a pop.because of hotel rates. Other than that everything about Salem Inn is wonderful.
