Prospector Hotel & Casino

This our 4th or 5th time we have stayed here and we love this hotel. We got our card punched this time and our next stay is free! Our first time was in 2016 and they consistently provide a great stay. We love the dog wing and exterior dog area. The welcome drink, popcorn and new addition off the coffee shop. The shower has been renovated and the water pressure is amazing and the rubber duck is still there. There is a Mexican restaurant on site and the bar has giant TV's for sports.

The positives of this hotel outweigh this for us but if cigarette smoke is a deal breaker for you, you might want to pass on this hotel.

Everything was so clean and comfortable. It was a nice touch to have earplugs available. The rubber duckie was adorable. I really appreciated that they were able to accommodate me having a handicapped room on the first floor. The staff was knowledable and super friendly. Oh, I also appreciated how there were phone chargers built into the bed's headboard - super!

I coulen't figure out how to turn on the desk light. The pillows were way too soft, so I put a pillow case on the throw pillow, which was perfect. Also, the food in the restaurant was dissappointing.. The steak for dinner was mostly fat and the breakfast omlet wasn't made the way I requested. But, the staff was amazing and the decore was really fun.

They have so many goodies at check in, such as free drinks, free gifts at the gift shop, and rubber duckies for BOTH my kids, which was adorable. Such a neat place. Staff was super friendly and the room was clean and had everything you could possibly need inside. Oh! And the pool was amazing!

The only thing I could remotely dislike is that there wasn't an elevator. I'm assuming because it's an older building. Just be prepared to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. My husband was there so it was no bug deal, but if I were alone with my kids, our humongous suitcase would have been difficult.

I feel like The Prospector Hotel and Casino beats out most hotels. It’s a perfect stay for us when we are on our motorcycle trips. It has a restaurant, a bar, an ice cream shop, and clean rooms. The staff is always friendly. Great parking lot for the motorcycles. We always get free drink coupons when we check in. And the rubber ducky is just an extra bonus that I love. Even though it’s a casino, the rooms are strict non-smoking. We have never had cigarette smell probkems. We stay in a variety of hotels when on trips (Hampton inn, holiday inn express, Embassy suites, resort hotels, etc. ) and honestly, this is one of my favorites.

The staff was outstanding throughout (check in, restaurant, casino, bar, gift shop, maid service). All contacts were excellent. Very clean, price was $50 on average under other facilities in Ely. Very good food in the restaurant at VERY fair prices. We were snowed in (chains required to leave on US 6) and were given late check out to outwait the weather. They are dog friendly to the extreme (pet beds in the rooms, pet treats, poop bags, tiled floors, and one $15 fee for 2 dogs). An adult beverage free for each adult in the Casino was a nice touch (but I lost more than it cost😵‍💫 Decor was (room #130) gambling memorabilia and western art. Very well done. Soap and cosmetics were name brand and two bottles of name brand wine available in room for $25 each, checked on Vivino, $45 value online, very good Cabernet Sauvignon!!! Pet art in the hallway reserved for customers with pets was fun and hilarious. Bedding was duck down and the pillows were to dream on. Need I say we will be returning (changes in where grandchildren live will put us thru here bi monthly) and I'm already making future reservations.

The bed was the best ever! So comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Amenities were very nice.

When we first walked in to the lobby, the smell of cigarette smoke was overpowering. Although the rooms are non-smoking, we were concerned the smell would permeate everything, but we were pleasantly surprised that it did not. The room was very clean and had a very fresh smell. The coffee brand in the room was weak and tasteless (brand was Wolfgang Puck). And last, but not least, was the non-existent elevators onsite. We were on the 2nd floor and had to make many trips up and down the stairs to load and unload.

Clean room, good bed and great location on highway 93. Bar, casino, and Mexican restaurant within the hotel. Quiet room provided that I requested. Small problem with TV addressed quickly by friendly staff. A couple of free drinks in the bar and discount coupon for the gift shop. Interesting art displayed in the lobby, casino, and hallways.

No elevator. Casino was probably typical of the area, but don't expect a Las Vegas experience.

We decided to go for this hotel despite there being plenty of other options from familiar chains available. The place didn't disappoint. Yes, it's a bit odd and eccentric compared to other, regular places. However, we received a very warm welcome from the lobby, the room was large and beds were comfortable. The swimming pool was nice and the spa was hot! The restaurant at this hotel offers pretty good food as well, way above the usual American standard of breakfast and dinner. We were on a road trip and our stay was after 3 weeks of driving and sightseeing. Would we have known this place was so comfortable we'd have booked an extra night just to catch our breath.

Smoking in the casino. Yes, it's Nevada, yes, it's allowed. However, you need to walk through the casino in order to get to the restaurant. It's during those moments you realize smoking is slowly becoming a thing of the past, really. It's also a bit depressing to see people clinging to their machines looking all depressed while the rest of the place is all smiles. That said, that's really the only downside to this place I can think of.

The hotel is very stylish, decorated in a Western theme. The staff was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Before you reach the room, you have to walk through a little casino (only slot machines, no tables), where it is allowed to smoke. However, once you reach the hallway with the rooms, the smoke smell is gone. Our room has a comfy king size bed. It was well prepared and clean. We even found couple treats on the bed. In the evening, we went to the hotel restaurant (Mexican cuisine) for dinner. It was very tasty and affordable! Overall, great one-night stop on our way to Utah.

There is no elevator. It is allowed to smoke at the casino which is connected to the lobby.

We were in Ely to take the Sunset,Stars and Champagne train ride, which was probably less than a half mile away from hotel. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Much appreciated bonus was the coupons for a free drink in the hotel bar. My margarita was delicious. We also ate at the hotel Mexican restaurant, which was good and reasonably priced.

Can’t think of anything we didn’t like. The hotel is older but has a western charm about it.
