Motel 6-The Dalles, OR

This hotel delivered exactly what we needed: a place to rest and sleep at a great price, between a few days of mountain biking in the area. The microwave and Wifi worked fine. The refrigerator was a bonus, larger than most hotels have with a separate freezer section. All was very clean, smelled clean, and pretty quiet. There was a small area in the back for larger vehicle parking if you have a trailer. We would definitely stay here again if we came back for more activities in the area.

I accidently left my reading glasses behind. When I called, they had saved the glasses and kept them safe of me until I could return for them. They were very helpful. I have not received such supportive care and concenr from many hotels in my travels. I really appreciated these people.

While quiet, the neighborhood is slightly rundown and not really as clean as I would like to have a nweighborhood I stay in; however, those at the hotel made up for a lot of this.

I wanted a ground floor room near the exit for my dog. No breakfast provided but the coffee bar in the lobby was well stocked. My room was clean and comfortable. Parking was easy and plentiful. Plenty of clean towels. Friendly staff as well.

I guess it's post covid times but I think there was only soap in bathroom . No blow dryer. I miss having my own coffee maker and such in the room. I would like to see the hallways better ventilated. The air was quite stale and hot.The bed was comfortable but the mattress needed rotating.

The Motel 6 was very basic, but we knew that when we booked. It was super clean, and the beds were comfy. We had a two queen room and it was spacious. The AC unit worked well, as did the microwave and refrigerator. The internet was speedy. The location was right off the freeway, so it was easy to find. The front desk people at check in and check out were very friendly and professional and the price can't be beat.

There wasn't anything I didn't like

Perfect location as jump off point for excursions around the extraordinary Columbia River Gorge. AND AFFORDABLE for those of us with limited income. THANK YOU!!

Room was pretty basic...no personality. No pictures on the wall. Could hear guest in room above "stomp around"..lol. AND POOL WAS CLOSED during extreme heat wave..darn

Room was clean, staff was friendly and efficient. Towels, soaps, etc. were adequate. TV worked well. HVAC worked well. Neighbors were quiet. Ice and soda machines were full. Doors locked.

My bed was uncomfortable. I will take the blame for that. I don't get out much. Probably just used to my own space.

Motel 6, The Dalles. (I stayed 1 night while on a long solo bike tour). My room number 126 was small but adequate and was good value for $60 plus tax. There was space for two bicycles in my room. It had two bedside tables each with a reading lamp, and a queen bed with three pillows. There was a 30x30-in table, and two chairs. I liked the open shelves underneath the long dresser in which one could place things. They was a 3/4 size refrigerator and a small microwave. The air conditioning worked well and was quiet, but I would have liked to have kept the fan on without AC. They wasn't any way to do this. The bathroom sink had a small flat work area around it. There was an on-site guest laundry. This was a good stay. Pros: welcoming ladies at the front desk (Debbie and Connie). I called Debbie a week ago to check on bringing my bike into my room and she was very helpful and welcoming. Connie checked me in and likewise had lots of TLC to offer. Connie said this Motel 6 had been extensively remodeled. It was one of the nicer Motel 6s at which I have stayed. My room #126 was comfortable and modern. Everything worked. Nothing fancy, and fairly compact, but adequate to my needs. Space for 2 bikes inside. The extra large (3/4 size) refrigerator was appreciated. I liked the spacious table and the long dresser with open cubbies in which I could place my stuff without forgetting them inside drawers. The sliding window had a latch so I could leave it open 2” at night for ventilation, without risking somebody climbing in. Lighting was good. Wi-Fi was very fast- 50 Mbps. T-Mobile reception was good. I liked having two bedside tables each with its own lamp. Shower was hot and pleasant. The lobby had good tasting brewed coffee with liquid creamers, hot chocolate and decaf coffee packets.

Cons: these were minor. I would have liked a second waste bin, one for the main room and one for the bathroom. I had no container in which to heat water in the microwave. Not safe to use plastic containers. However, a short walk took me to the lobby where they had instant hot water.

I loved the location the hotel is in alot of stores and places to eat around right off the freeway of I-84 going east. The staff were very friendly and outstanding and went the extra mile for us. They even gave us a later check out time which was 12pm.

There wasn't anything that we disliked

It was hard to believe I was staying at a Motel 6 with all of the added comforts provided. Sure, the room was on the small side, yet I had both a desk and a table, a microwave and refrigerator, and TV with a whole slew of channels, and even the guide worked so I could tell what was on. The room was also very clean, and the bed surprisingly comfortable. There was no hair dryer or ironing board. but I was not expecting there would be, either. No coffee maker in room, which might be a Motel 6 thing and might be a Covid thing, I don't know which, but there was decent coffee available in the lobby.

everything was awesome

Very friendly staff. Good price. Microwave and fridge in room, made it easy to eat quickly before hitting the trail head. Seemed clean, a little worn. Convenient to groceries and pharmacy. Windows that open. As a place to sleep it was fine

Hallways smelled like stale smoke. Not enough outlets. Not the nicest part of town.
