Great value for money, very pleasant place to stay. Good solid breakfast. Friendly owner/manager who is doing a fantastic job, apparently on his own due to post-COVID staffing shortages. We were able to see into most of the bedrooms the morning we checked in because the doors in the hall were open, and all are freshly and tastefully decorated. Our matress was good and firm. Everything is spotlessly clean.

The common areas are just slightly worn about the edges, and the dining room has been shifted to a spartan backroom, temporarily from the looks of it. However, this did not diminish the comfort or the pleasant atmosphere. My one complaint was that the double bed in our room (7) was much more narrow than my hsuband and I are used to. I noticed other rooms had a configuration with a queen or king + twin that would’ve suited us better, but we booked kind of late so I didn’t see those on offer on booking.com.

The Smugglers Notch Inn exceeded our expectations. Charming 1800’s Inn. Decor is true to the time. Rooms were nice, freshly painted, very clean and comfortable, with crisp updated linens. Breakfast was included and had many options to choose from that was prepared with all the freshest ingredients. Great location for local hiking, biking, river kayaking and skiing. Would definitely stay hear again!

It was perfect for the price point. Our exceptions were of a charming older inn and that is exactly what we got. A question above asked if it is a romantic place to stay. My answer is it that it could be depending on what one is looking for.

Location Authenticity. - built in 1790s, still has the original character (rooms, layout, photos and pictures, sloping floor etc.) and wonderful to contemplate all that stayed there before and the history it has experienced. This was especially poignant sitting on the porch watching the July 4th parade.from a brilliant vantage point. Cleanliness and comfort. We loved the breakfast and the local hospitality in the Tavern next door.

Nothing.... even the jamming bathroom door and feeling of being locked in added to experience.

Loved the location. There are a few small markets within walking distance for basics and gourmet treats, plus a few specialty shops. The pub that’s connected to the inn has a lively atmosphere with a mix of local and non local clientele. Bistro style food adequately prepared, fairly priced. Good selection of beers. Our room was very welcoming, with super comfortable bed and a cute gas “wood stove”. We found it easy to relax at the inn, whether in our room or in the main lounge. Casual and unpretentious. Definitely recommend a stay.

Breakfast was ok, but could have been improved with a little effort.

The host was fabulous and helpful. I know he was not a one man show as we heard cleaning of the rooms going on but he is the only person we saw. He listened to our issue with our cars air conditioner and tried his best to help us find assistance. Our room was adequate and what we expected for the price. It would have been nice to have a full length mirror in the room. The bed was very comfy, clean crisp sheets and fluffy pillows! Breakfast was delicious and served as requested. His process of taking orders and reserving a time to enjoy it the day before works well with his one man show and cooking and serving all his guests.

The inn is quaint with many farmhouse details. The walls are thin so every shower and toilet flush could be heard. I guess I’m a light sleeper. I heard every person walk down the hall. The bathroom off the breakfast room needs a deep clean and touch up. We opted to go back to our room to use that bathroom.

old and quirky property. Room was clean, bed was soft. Nice sleep. No AC so could be an issue on a hot night but not when we were there. nice breakfast. Enjoyed sitting on front porch in evening and with coffee before breakfast. Attached pub and restaurant was also great.

all was good with us. If you want a modern cookie cutter type hotel this is not the place for you. If you want a character hotel room that is quirky, clean and comfortable with a new tv then this is a great place to stay.

A true family owned property. Always went the extra mile to be of service, inquire if they could assist, and very knowledgeable about the area. very comfortable bed and the best sleeping pillows ever. Breakfast was wonderful, freshly cooked, with a great selection of options. Ohhhhh the front porch - what a fantastic place to sit, enjoy a glass of wine, and watch the world go by. Downstairs restaurant offers great fare on a diverse menu.

Would not change a thing.

Old-skool VT style inn, perfect for a ski get-away with my daughter. Rooms are small and sparse, but very homey. The inn is beautiful and quaint, but not faux-cutsie. Actually quaint! The living room is a comfy space to hang out in in the evenings and the other guests were pleasant and sociable. Breakfast is homemade. Not huge, but plenty of food for a long day on the slopes.

The bed was extremely soft, which my daughter loves, but not so great for old backs.

The room was lovely. The bed is comfortable the sheets are great, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was amazing.

There is one thermostat for the whole inn, and another guest complained about it being cold so the heat was turned up and it was sweltering that night. It would be nice to either have a thermostat in each room or have a very strict - explicitly stated and stuck to - rule that the thermostat doesn't get changed. Also there is absolutely no masking being done at all by any staff or guests and that was very uncomfortable.
