The beautiful hotel is right there when you debark from the ferry from Anacortes to Orcas Island. There is an exceptional grocery store across the street and an excellent cafe on the premises. The fuller, more formal dining room was not open on the days we stayed there. The rooms were attractive and ample, comfortable and quiet. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The only draw back is that without a car of one's own, transportation on the island is very limited. The shuttle service had ended for the season and there were few taxis and those were very expensive. Our solution was to hire an island guide with his own car. The hotel would benefit greatly from linkage to more accessible transportation.

The remoteness from the main town (Eastsound) on the island, with no easy way to get there or to explore the rest of the island.

Charming and comfortable! I've been in 20 hotels in the last couple months and this was my absolute favorite. The hotel feels so warm and intimate. It is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. I wish I had more time to sit on one of their lovely porches. We played boardgames in the lobby, and chatted with other hotel guests who had seen orcas from their porch! The staff was very friendly and kind. I had a minor sprain and they were very accomodating. The bed was so comfortable and cozy that I checked the bed topper label and ordered one for home. The food at the cafe was delicious and vegetarian friendly. I regret that I didn't get to check out their restaurant for dinner but their menus looks incredible and their culinary library in the lobby was enviable! Some advice: If youre interested in the more affordable rooms but worried about the unattached bathrooms, go for it! Im picky and they would have been perfectly suitable. The hotel is directly across from the ferry terminal and the whale watching meet up. It could not be more conveniently located.

I believe there were no rooms on the ground floor and no elevator for folks who have difficulty with stairs.

The Orcas Hotel is a gift from another time (but with great wi-fi). No TV in the room, very nice gathering area/library on the main floor, and very very excellent restaurant on the premises. The view from our room was perfect. The hotel warned us (via printed materials) of possible noise from the very nearby ferry, but that was not an issue during our 2-night stay. There is also an excellent cafe on the premises, which provides great coffee without Starbucks' pretension and breakfast and lunch stuff available.

There's nothing I didn't like, but: The downstairs cafe is very popular - you might have a bit of a wait to get things in the morning. There is no coffee in the rooms, which is fine with me but not up to modern expectations. There is no elevator to the rooms on the 2nd floor. Again, fine w/me even as 65+ age, but be advised. This is not a request for an elevator (please no!), the narrow stairway accommodated my luggage and me just fine.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff were all fantastic - friendly and accommodating. The Cafe food is fabulous! The view is amazing.

Appreciate the earplugs because the walls are thin (our next door neighbor snored something fierce) -unfortunately we didn't find them until the day we were leaving so maybe a notice about where they are. I thought we were getting a Queen size bed but the bed was pretty small however the room was small so I don't know how a Queen would fit anyway. We will be back and will reserve one of the rooms with its own balcony / patio. Other improvements would be an accessible ice machine / fresh water without having to go into the cafe or calling someone, and including adirondack chairs on the lawns instead of the small metal chairs. You have an amazing view and with the cafe so accessible, we would have relaxed at the hotel more if there was a more comfortable place to hang out.

I loved the historical value of this lovely 118 year old building. The people that ran the hotel were all so welcoming and kind throughout our stay. This is not at all like a contemporary hotel, so no TV in the rooms, but rooms have probably been updated with in-room bathrooms.

I was traveling with a somewhat disabled gentleman that tried to avoid the stairs as much as possible. Due to the age of the building, elevators are not an option. Personally, the historical adventure was absolutely worth the inconvenience.

We loved our stay at the Orcas Hotel. It is such a beautiful property and has an authentic historic feel. It seems that each room is unique, but the Buck Bay room (Double room with a Queen bed) was spacious and very comfortable for the two of us.

It was perfect for us, but maybe not for everyone. Limited amenities in the room and no elevator.

My wife and I both commented that this was one of the friendliest staffs we've ever encountered (and we've traveled all over the world). Despite COVID limitations, they bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed and were super friendly throughout our stay. Congratulations to the management and staff for creating such a welcoming team and such a warm environment, especially when we are all required to wear masks.

This isn't a "dislike" as much as it is a suggestion. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with furniture that fits the "classic" feel of the hotel. It's also right above the ferry terminal so we were thankful for the ear plugs they provided in case there was too much ferry noise. The only thing we would have loved to have in our room was a small refrigerator so we could keep our drinks cold.

Charming room with drop-dead gorgeous view of the ferry dock, with Shaw Island just across the channel. Some nice touches, including a note from the proprietor, pitcher of lemon water and a bowl of rice crackers for a happy hour snack. Covid precautions were followed,so dinner was out on the deck with propane heaters, good food (limited menu) and a complimentary welcome glass of wine!

We would love to stay here again when the restaurant was fully open with regular table service!

We loved the location, the charming historic hotel, our room was lovely. There were extras like cold lemon water and cookies in the room. Free beverages. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I was given a cake with ice cream and a candle on it for my birthday! The food in their cafe was excellent. Onre should order the beignets!

All was great.

The staff was amazing. The overall feel was very relaxing and the food was good. The view was amazing. At first it felt far from the action, but honestly we found ourselves heading back to the hotel to grab a bite and hang out.

No complaints, for sure exceeded expectations.
