Cumquat House

We liked everything about the Cumquat accomodation, we loved that it was different than a standard hotel, old Spanish style house with high ceilings and beautiful balcony with stunning views made me feel like in one of the Southern Europe style houses. Breakfast was really nice, with cereals, fruit, nuts and yoghurt available, 2 choices of toast and gem and delicious coffee. Bed was made up daily and room was tidied daily Loved everything and the hosts were really nice too. thank you

Lovely old place. Very nice and quite private. Very likeable and helpful gentleman host.

After arranging a very late breakfast at 7:55 am, we arrived at 7:45 am to be greeted by a mouthful of abuse from the hostess for being late? And then harassed for not eating fast enough? Finally, I needed to check my work messages and emails, as I was still on call for my job, and then copped another mouthful and informed that “We don’t use phones at the table”. Which necessitated me leaving breakfast to catch up on my work. Suggest you skip breakfast, otherwise place is great.

The location was quiet, the house was lovely to look at and inside well restored. The room was just what I needed, room to work at a great sized desk, great bed a TV that was placed not for ease of the property but for the guest! The shower was great size and great water pressure, there were multiple power points for using all your gadgets and 2 luggage racks if you were a couple. Bed was very comfortable, nice linen and great towels. Little treats and plenty of tea and coffee. Hosts were very friendly, very experienced and very professional.

This is the perfect place for a couple also I stayed to get ready for my wedding in the King room. Bridesmaid in an ajacent room... Also we stayed the wedding night close to the venue lovely accomodation and history... Perfect for any bride wanting somewhere quiet and relaxing to get ready.

Not your standard continental breakfast option more home breakfast of cereals, with prunes, pears etc and toast and coffee. Was expection croissants etc continental breakfast is a light option typically consisting of pastries and baked goods, fruits, toast, and coffee.

The room was really nice, the bed very comfortable and the general stay was excellent.

We felt I bit rushed at breakfast. My wife had a small bowl of cereal and I had a nice bowl of fresh fruit and yoghurt. My wife was going to have some fruit too but before she could get it the food was taken away. I’m sure the lady had good intentions, but she was just a little too quick, we felt that we were being rushed out. All the other people had gone down for a 6:00 am breakfast, we were the only ones at 7:00 and maybe that was holding her up a bit. My wife is Thai and they don’t like to be confrontational at all, so she didn't want me to ask for the fruit again. There wasn’t much left anyway, so I’m sure it wouldn’t have been a cost imposition for her to have fruit as well as cereal. I’m sorry, but we just felt a little uncomfortable at breakfast, otherwise the stay was great.

felt very welcomed , the host was very friendly, room was cute with a good size bathroom and the best feeling was opening the bedroom door with a cup of coffee and looking outside with an amazing view and feeling freshly from all the trees around the house has got some hearts and souls I recommend off your shoes if you’re coming back late from your special evening event also for breakfast was an absolute treat :) will be back !

We were welcomed by Peter. The atmosphere of the house was very comfortable. Lots of character. Breakfast was delicious. Balcony and view from our room was great.

Not that we could do anything about it. I knew the bedroom was going to be upstairs but we managed those 18 stairs ( my husband has breathing issues). Would stay there again though. .

A beautiful building and room with friendly hosts. The room had traditional charm but with the modern amenities such as an air con, fan, outdoor veranda and great bathroom. Attention to detail was everywhere to make for an extremely comfortable stay. The buffett, continental breakfast was a bonus and also helped up get up and about for the day. The hosts were magnificent.

Nothing to fault.

Second time staying at Cumquat house. Great price for the history and charm and position of house within distance to drive in and markets. Hosts are always friendly and chatty no matter what time you check in and breakfast the first time we stayed was elegant yet simple and filling. Nothing they haven't though of.

Maybe an extra blanket for those cold winter nights and wall mounted pump bottles of body wash/shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom. Those little tubes do nothing and not everyone uses cakes of soap. :)

Always a pleasure to stay here. Fabulously decorated and exquisitely furbished rooms. Owners always friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are always a welcome treat: continental style with a variety of cereal, selection of toast, fresh fruit & yoghurt, orange juice and expresso coffee. A stunningly beautiful house in a great location. A genuine must, if staying in Ipswich.
