MOMA1890 Boutique Hotel

Really good hotel, well maintained, interesting design. The location is excellent, since there is a metro station just in front of the hotel entrance, but still you can walk to the city center (I did, takes around 30 minutes :) ) Breakfast area is nice and comfy, plenty of tables and not crowded. Also the breakfast had a lot of varieties. My room was looking to the street and when the windows are closed, there is absolutely no noise (not sure how it is during summertime, when the windows are open :) The room is very clean, bathroom renovated. Staff is very polite. I will definitely keep coming back to this hotel.

The location was very convenient just opposite the Ostbanhof station, its easy to find the building as it has a large HOTEL sign on the top. The staff were efficient, friendly and very helpfull, every details was thought of, umbrellas in case it rains, shoe shine kits, and drinks and snacks. The room was well designed clean and comfortable, with lovely toiletries in the bathroom.

There was very little I didn't like, but if they would like to improve things further I would suggest: Visitor maps I sleep with a feather pillow, so found the pillows quite spongy / high, it might be good to have assorted thicknesses. The water machine for hot drinks was often empty or didn't work, so swapping for something more reliable.

Munich is not on everyone’s usual tourist destination, but it has many aspects worth the exploration. I chose this hotel intentionally to not stay in the central district. However, Munich has an excellent transport system (U & S Bahn + Trams) providing easy access throughout the city. Moma is a mere five stops from the central train station, by the U5 exit right in front of you on arrival. The hotel is a boutique ~50 room venue that has been nicely upgraded in an attractive historic building. Rooms are essentially all unique but comfortably sized. Overall décor is best characterized as “Spartan” but efficient and comfortable. The bathroom in my unit had a separate toilet closet adjacent to a full-sized shower and basin. The products available were top notch, L’Occitane. A rarity in older building was an exhaust fan in the WC. The shower had first-rate water pressure. Rooms are equipped with double-paned windows allowing for an excellent night’s rest, when closed. If your room faces the main street and the window is open it is another matter. There is an elevator for the stair challenged. However, it loses by only a couple of millimeters beating out the world’s smallest elevator that I identified in Zurich. But it does the job. The free Wi-fi performed flawlessly. The staff were friendly and helpful, provided referrals to nearby local restaurants. The variety was impressive, Tapas, Thai, Bosnian, Greek, Indian, Turkish, Italian, Nepalese & of course German. If you opt for breakfast, they prefer you inform them the evening before. Breakfast offered an extensive spread of healthy items, fresh brewed coffee and made to order in a relaxing and very attractive setting. On the 1st floor there is a common area a nice to relax in with a self-service honor bar. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are available at no extra charge.

Not much on the down side, from my standpoint…But spoiler alert this venue does not have central air conditioning on every floor. Make sure your room has it if you are heat sensitive. My stay was in September, temperatures had dropped and there was rain outside. There is an upscale Dyson fan provided and my stay was very comfortable. However, I am unable to speak to the issue of one’s comfort in the middle of summer when temperatures exceed 40 degrees C. Finally for those Anglophones requiring English speaking television, the choices are few: BBC & CNN primarily and a few other news channels in English.

Good location, in front of Ostbahnof. Clean, spacious rooms and friendly staff. Tea/coffee, water and non-alcoholic drinks can be had without charge from the breakfast room which is a nice touch. Lidl right across the street, Inside facing room (facing courtyard) is quiet but needs to be specifically booked.

This was a known issue acknowledged by the hotel so this is not a complaint. The room can get a bit warm during summer as there is no air conditioning. I believe the hotel has explained that it's quite expensive to install this in a listed building. A portable fan was provided which, combined with open windows, does the job. In other periods of the year, this should not be a problem at all.

The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and the staff could not do enough for you. It's a really nice atmosphere and environment, calm and perfect for anyone - families, couples, older people - I wouldn't call this a party hostel, but it's also not at all boring. The decor is cool and it is really, really clean and tidy. The location is excellent for concerts at Tonhalle and for getting around Munich generally, because it's right by the Ostbahnhof station. There were some really nice touches in the room - good and natural cosmetics, water, and it was beautifully presented.

I love the room nice and spacious with a large bathroom. There was a snowstorm in Munich and it was very warm in the room. The breakfast is excellent with lots of healthy options. The free snacks and soft drinks and honesty. Bar are an excellent touch. Also Loxitane products in the bathroom is wonderful. The staff were lovely too.

The location is great, but it’s worth knowing it’s not in the centre of town. about 35 minute walk to old town. Although it’s right next to the east train station, so easy to get to on the S8 from the Airport.

Good location in a Munich area with lots of restaurants and pubs, and also right next to one of the main train stations in Munich, convenient connections to the airport and the city center, taxis are 24/7 available in the immediate vicinity. The people at the front desk are overwhelmingly nice and friendly; free drinking water, perfect bathroom & shower, comfortable beds, everything is very clean. Restaurant recommendation: "Spicery" 9 minutes away (reservation maybe necessary).

It was a bit warm in the room, I somehow didn't manage to activate the air conditioning - the digital display always showed "OFF" (maybe it was my fault)...

Located opposite Ostbhanhof with direct S8 to Airport and U5 to the old city. Good neighborhood with good restaurants for dinner and breakfast. Excellent reception staff, Clean rooms and spacious showers. Loved the free main minibar concept

The room got hot during the night as it is not airconditioned (historic building). We talked to reception the next morning and they said that they have started providing fans in the rooms from the day we left and onwards as the weather started to heat up only that day. Despite the small discomfort, we did appreciate and accepted that and it did not change our good impression of the hotel.

Nice boutique hotel. Room isn’t large but perfect size for a short stay. Everything you need is here. Hotel offers free drinks and snacks and has an honour bar where you can purchase alcoholic drinks. Great location for transportation. Neighbourhood is good but many cafes and shops were closed on Sun and Mon.

A bit noisy, but I was on the nosier side of the building. I think would only impact you if you’re a light sleeper.

Nice and clean hotel. The staff was really helpful except one guy who worked in the night at the reception. The other staff was really helpful and had good knowledge. The area was great for transport.

Breakfast was ok but the variety was poor.
