Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong

We are regulars at Auberge, we like the bath tub and the rooms size given the prices. It is a short (15 minutes) bus ride from the airport and 25 minute ferry ride to Central. Since every time we are in Hong Kong is to catch another flight, it is very convenient with large rooms and no traffic. Discovery Bay is also a nice community, since we live in China, Discovery bay is a good escape from the pressures of big Asian cities. Lots of dogs walking with school children and outdoor areas.

BUSES ! Only buses are allowed in Discovery bay and It is very complicated. Auberge is in north plaza, there are many busses between north plaza and main terminal. Different buses go from the hotel to airport or subway stations, so it can take some time to travel out of Discovery bay and lots of planning is required. Taxis are available to the hotel and north plaza but are expensive, HKD 100 to Sunny bay station, HKD 200 to Tung Chung and more to airport. So careful travel planning is required when staying at this hotel.

Always clean. Good breakfast and staff very helpful on reception desk.

Very inconvenient, as the guests have to vacate the pool area at certain times of the day, for cleaning, although we believe it’s because of staff breaks/lunch. They should employ more staff to cover these breaks. Also, the gates seem to be locked, making guests walk through water and running water. By the time you arrive at the pool your clothes are wet. We have stayed at the Auberge many times and never experienced this. Management……please address this issue and improve it.

1. away from crowds of Hong Kong : discovery bay itself is surrounded by beach and trees. Also , this is a good hotel to explore Lantau island (I took a 3.5 hour hiking from Tung Chung to Tai O, a historic fishing village ) and Peng Chau island of Hong Kong (another village that is 10 minutes ferry from Discovery bay's pier) 2. good value : typically a 4-star cosy hotel in Hong Kong with 32 square metre room space, at least HK$1800 per night 3. reliable transport service : bus route DB02R to airport running on a schedule once an hour , DB01R to subway station Tung Chung running on a schedule once every 15-20 minutes ), and a Kaito ferry service to Ping Chau island (around once an hour)

Efficient and helpful staff and spacious room for comparison with HKG standard. Most of their team quickly respond to our needs at their best. One of them helped my mother open the heavy door for my mother with a walking stick. They even helped me insert the SIM card. The cleaner who was responsible for my room was super kind and made our room clean and tidy in a professional manner. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during our stay.

Breakfast is costly, so I didn't include it for my stay. However, you can find asian or western restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance.

The friendly staff upgraded my booking to a wonderful suite with amazing views of the bay and lush green mountains. The suite was spacious: It had a bedroom, a living room including a kitchenette with a coffee machine, a fridge, an oven, a water dispenser, and a small dining table. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room had a safe, and everything was clean. You can tell the rooms have been recently renovated and are well-maintained. The hotel is situated in a very scenic location right at the bay, with walkways and small stores, incl. a seven-eleven, just around the corner.. The airport bus comes every hour and stops right in front of the hotel, too. Just be sure to have the exact amount handy (48HKD), as the drivers are not able to give you any change. It's not in a very central location in terms of the typical HK sightseeing destinations, but it's great for a getaway. Disney HK is also nearby.

The suite only has 1 bathroom, and it looked rather old, the toilet is also not Japanese-style. I hope they continue the renovation works and remove the carpets in the rooms.

I traveled with my husband and my 10 year old son. We were out every day touring Hong Kong and having dinner with friends, so did not use much amenities of the hotel. But we loved the room. The bed and sofa are so comfortable that they wipe away our fatigue every night. We had a water view room and loved the view every morning! Across the street there is a small strips of restaurants— Korean, Vietnamese, etc. Very good food.

The room does not have a bathtub. It’s shower only.

Very comfortable hotel with spacious rooms and large bathrooms. Daily room service was excellent.

There is a fabulous swimming pool at The Auberge but sadly it closes for cleaning every day between 11.30-1pm which seems unnecessary. Many guests were disappointed with this. The deputy manager is aware and is currently reviewing the policy.

Booked this room for my father visiting Hong Kong. He had a very enjoyable stay and commented on the comfortable room, lovely breakfast buffet, good location and close to airport. Staff were very accommodating and both the restaurant and nearby Bounty Bar were a good standard

A little on the expensive side. Prices have gone up quite a lot compared to a few years ago

The check in person Tracy was wonderful. I had a beautiful room and was so comfortable. I loved the sunken bath and the outstanding view . It was so peaceful and quiet despite there being some moomin event going on

Very long check in (50 minutes)The cleaning of the room was fairly basic . There was a large stain on one of the sofa cushions and some dust and dirt pieces in the corner. Also I washed the plates as they were smeary. However , housekeeping were really quick to change the cushion. It didn’t bother me really as I was very happy there but it was noticeable

Very engaged staff who took the initiative to help us and foresee issues to come. The hotel was overall extremely tidy and clean, even with an open air balcony over the sea.

If one must say, it'd be that the TVs were a bit dated and there weren't devices that allow you to connect your own device to speakers or broadcasting devices
