The Peninsula Hong Kong

I lived in Hong Kong for 2 years, 30 years ago. I visited The Peninsula several times over that period including attending a fabulous New Years Eve party and I promised myself then that I would stay there "one day". I have returned to Hong Kong on 3 previous occasions but stayed elsewhere. On this occasion it was time. I waited 30 years to stay in the Grand Dame. We had a lovely room with an uninterrupted harbour view, we ate in several of the restaurants and I savoured every minute. The evening buffet in the Verandah restaurant with the drinks package was sumptuous and great value for money. We had drink in Gaddis and had lunch by the swimming pool, (make sure you try the crab spring rolls, they melt in your mouth). We ate a late supper in the Lobby and the waiter was friendly, chatting about the wine choices, even though we were coming up to the end of the food service time but he didn't rush us at all. The breakfast buffet was astonishingly varied and for one of my 4 (!) breakfast courses I had teriyaki salmon and deep fried crispy prawn wantons - just delicious! It was raining for most of our stay at The Peninsula and I didn't care one jot! We stayed in and enjoyed the hotel. I swam in the pool and we wanted for nothing. We didn't really explore the shops much but were pleasantly surprised to find a discount in the souvenir shop for hotel guests. All of the staff we talked to were uber friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and we particularly liked talking to the Food and Beverage Manager/Director (?) about how much we loved the food in the hotel and we also had an animated conversation with him about Arsenal Football Club! Finally, I was blown away by the size, quality and quantity of flower arrangements in the hotel. I am very interested in flower arranging and I have to commend the in house team for putting on so many flawless displays.

EEEEERRR, nothing! Well, perhaps one thing - we only stayed 2 nights and I wish it had been much longer.

As a HK born and bred, the Peninsula is embraced as an icon of the city and it has certainly lived up to its reputation during my 4 night stay in the harbour view room. The location is excellent within 5-10 minutes walk to the star ferry/MTR/Ocean Terminal. The service is friendly and attentive. Yum cha at the Spring Moon is almost second to none and the breakfast at the lobby is the perfect place to start the day. The peninsula is an excellent choice to pamper oneself.

The Peninsula is such a gorgeous hotel. All of the staff are very friendly and professional. Our room was stunning and beds...well let’s just say I’ve never slept so well in my life. Exceptional beds and bedding. I was there to celebrate my birthday with my daughter and the hotel were fabulous and even brought up a beautiful cake and card. Outstanding! We Hope to visit again for our next holiday.

The property’s location was really great with the new K11 shopping centre being built right across the road. Furthermore, the staff’s etiquette as well as training goes above and beyond.

Because the hotel is world famous and many well known brands in the lobby, you often find groups of tourists in the lobby making it feel a little overcrowded. However, if you look past that the hotel is 100%.

The staff were kind and upgraded our room for maximum comfort. (Proof of excellent hotel management.) The dinner buffet was excellent, especially the tender ox tongue...(drooling) Thank you for preparing the mother's day cake for us! Had bath robes and cute slippers for kids.

The swimming pool was too cold, suggest to improve the heating system. The virus restriction was over but the sauna and SPA facilities was still closed. No breakfast buffet during our stay, even after virus restrictions were lifted. Facilities in the bathroom and SPA area were too old, suggest to invest in improvements. The hotel needs to provide more entertainment for children. (There was not much children could do in the hotel) Sadly the Peninsula umbrellas were sold out.

I didn’t receive any calls or messages as being told by hotel staff when the room was ready. My suitcases were not in the room as being told by hotel staff that they would be in the room. We could not log on to wifi by the room number and surname and had to call and request a different password.

I had a great time staying there, that's all because of this 1 staff, Ms.Joy Lai, she was a great help and very friendly and really do extra miles to ensure me and family have a great time at the hotel. Really appreciate the hospitality. Thank you Peninsula team!

Room is very comfortable, I visited around Christmas time & they provided us with the loveliest gifts! The whole stay was very festive!

The lobby is very crowded because of the hotel’s popularity.. the breakfast has little options for vegetarians

The location is perfect, the building is stunning, loads of different restaurants & bars inside the hotel. I enjoyed myself so much that I had to extend my stay! All staff members offered a 5 star customer service.
