Occidental Tucancún - All Inclusive

The hotel was right on the gorgeous sandy Cancun beach which was cleaned every day. The three pools we're all lovely, with great views of the ocean. Our hotel room was a great size and we had a large comfy bed. Staff were friendly.

The drinks were not great. Cocktails felt watered down and very sugary. Food was mostly ok. We swapped our dinner reservation to go to the fish restaurant but when we arrived they told us we didn't have a reservation which was a shame as the restaurant had a great view of the ocean. We ate at the Mexican restaurant instead but the food wasn't very good.

I'm sorry if this review is going to be a bit long. Once we arrived at Cancun airport we decided to take the taxi from the airport to the hotel and we took the taxi from the stands right by the terminal exit doors but eventually once we got to the taxi stations we figured out that we could purchase the taxi under station too. This may help you to save a bit on your taxi from the hotel. Let's talk about the hotel. It is located in one of the best areas of the Cancun hotel zone. So you'll have the axis to one of the greatest beach parts of the Cancun coast. This hotel has three swimming pools that each of which has a bar right beside it I checked many hotels in the Cancun area and none of them has this level of hotel facilities. During our stay, we figured out that there are four restaurants active in this hotel Italian, Mexican, seafood restaurant, and buffet restaurant. You don't need any reservation to get into the buffet restaurant but for the other three, you need to make a reservation on the same day. The hotel staff was super friendly, nice, polite, and helpful. They had two series of shows and performances every day. One of them was at 12:00 PM every day which was like an entertainment show besides the main swimming pool which was mostly Zumba dancing classes or pool volleyball or bingo games. The other one was at 9:00 PM at the theater which was an in-house event in form of a dance or circus or magician performance. We really enjoyed the night performances. Overall I was really happy with the pricing and the value of the hotel.

There are only two things that I really didn't like about this hotel. First is the checking process it was very time-consuming and it took at least 20 minutes for each guest to be checked in at the counter. They could easily put more front desk employees too fast and the check-in process. The other thing is the quality and the taste of the buffet restaurant foods. To be honest, I was not really surprised by the quality and the taste. Because apparently, it's about all of the all-inclusive hotels that they focused more on the quality and the taste of their all cold drinks, not the foods. By the way, I have to say that the quality of the food at Italian Mexican and seafood restaurant was beyond my expectation.

I loved the room I received, with a great ocean view! the beach is beautiful and the restaurants and facilities are fine. I appreciated that there is a lab for covid tests in the same building as the hotel, very convenient! I also liked that it is just in front of a small mall, with a supermarket closing at 11pm.

Some areas of the facilities are a bit old, but I think they are very well maintained and clean.

I would recommend this hotel. The food is good (not great), and the rooms are nice. The staff is very helpful and all speak English.

Do not take a room near the outdoor air conditioning units. They are very noisy and you can hear them through the glass windows/doors. I had to move rooms because of the constant humming noise. Avoid the North side of the building, rooms facing the lagoon. Rooms on the ocean side wouldn't have this issue, nor would rooms on the south side of the building.

Staff was awesome, we loved our beach front room except the bed was a little hard but they kept us well stocked with drinks and cleaned it daily. Pools were all great, wasn’t too rowdy but we had a lot fun and met a ton of new friends at the adult pool. Loved that they had real liquor brands and that they didn’t hound us for a timeshare tour. I love that by 3-4pm the sun would shade the pools and give you a break from the sun.

After telling us we can check in at 3pm they kept saying 20-30 more mins up until about 5:30pm which was fine except I kept standing in line to be told over and over it still wasn’t ready. Staff was really nice which helped the situation.

I think overall is good but I believe could be better with more variety in the food

Love beach, ocean view room -the best , pool and staff friendly !

Two of the pool was dirty and in a morning water was like a milk . Food is very cheap and the same every day . Nobody refills dishes if they run out ! First come -first serve ! Need to clean bech from seaweed . Cleaning staff in room not proffesional. I ask clean my room again after cleaning lady finish . She didn't removed dirt and washed the floor .

We had a really good stay at the property. Since we were booked on premium level room, check-in was smooth & quick. They also allowed us to checkin at noon since the room was ready. The bar staff especially Ismail was wonderful - always smiling and going that extra mile to make us try new drinks. All in all a great stay at a great property!

Lack of vegetarian options on the buffet & a la carte menus. The sink in our bathroom was clogged and the water pressure was low.

Everything was good but the food. great staff, clean facility and when we had an issue with the ac they were on it right away

the food was not good at all we ate off property 3 times to get a good meal I read the reviews prior to going and wanted to form my own opinion and the review were right about the food.
