A solid eight (8.0) with no significant negative issues. Location is accessible to central Canberra and all major sites, but be aware, Canberra is a “Car Town”, not a place for a walk-about. There is a tram line 300 meters from the front door, but not useful to the non-local visitor as it is known by locals as the “Tram to no-where”. There is some green space in the vicinity. None of this reflects on the Hotel. The staff are a highlight, efficient check-in and check-out. Food service is expertly handled by Monsieur Fung, the manager and his assistant Sandhy (sp.). The bar offers a limited item “Happy Hour”. Beds are comfortable and although Northbourne is a major artery it is quiet at bedtime. Underground parking is available at no extra charge w ith in and out access via your door key. Breakfast and dinner are no frills but fine if you prefer on site dining. Room size is better than average and our room had a nice balcony (a significant +). The wireless functioned well, but you may have to re-sign on several times.

The negatives are more in the range of minor annoyances as opposed to “deal breakers”. Plumbing issues include intermittent slight whiffs of ode de “sewer” in the bathroom (not predictable) and surges when showering by the hot water (Consider yourself forewarned). On the electrical side of things, the controls (Can only speak to our room) are a combination of manual and automatic. A bit disconcerting when the curtains close on entry and the lights go on by themselves. This is followed by the fact that not all controls function for all features. There are several panels around the room in variable working order. I noted that even housekeeping staff had problems in making the controls respond. Suspect this is a combination electrical/design/Artificial intelligence issue.

Excellent value for money. Surprisingly large and well appointed one bedroom apartment - we were expecting a hotel room but this was almost bigger than our apartment at home. Our stay was only a night but this would be a great longer term option, kitchenette even had an induction stove top. Clean. Comfy bed. Nice amenities in kitchen and shower. Modern fittings, smart lighting, good aircon, TVs in lounge area AND in bedroom. Compares very favourably to other places in Canberra at same price point.

Nothing really. Others mention parking - yes it is extra - but there is 2hr street parking in the residential area behind the hotel, so depending on your plans you can get away without paying extra.

Modern hotel with quality fittings, double glazed windows, so very quiet even though my room faced on to busy Northbourne Ave. Very comfortable bed. Clean room, good housekeeping, off street parking. Very good value.

Everything, the staff were super friendly, the room was really clean, secure parking is a huge plus. Location, whilst slightly further away than others is actually extremely convenient with a short walk to the shops and restaurants and if you don't want to walk there's a light rail. The room had everything you needed including little details and touches like your name on the phone, mood lighting in room and bathroom. Oh the electric curtains! Open the curtains without actually getting out of bed!

The only fault was that the battery had run out on the safe but we just used the suitcases.

The rooms I secured were quite luxurious and appointed beautifully. The bed, pillows included, was comfortable, and the provision of a TV in the room as well as the lounge was awesome. Nice appliances, a pod coffee machine, and even the marble tops of the benches were stylish. The bathroom had two shower choices, including a rain head, and the supplied body care products were lovely. Ate at the restaurant and was thoroughly impressed, especially by the lamb rack, which was cooked to perfection. The staff were very nice, informative and polite.

The outside of the hotel is rather daunting and needs to be updated. The air conditioning was nice, but the machines made quite a bit of noise well after you turned them off.

Beautiful hotel with very modern rooms and comfy beds! Nice and clean; only 2 km from city centre and offering free parking; we loved the little touches - light mood, curtains opened by the touch of a button, 15 seconds choice minibar. We treated our friends for a weekend break and it was a great experience! Will definitely come back!

Not a negative, just something to consider for improvement: asking us if we preferred a room with a different view and explain the costs/the options. Some people might like to pay a little extra for something that they enjoy looking at.

The location REALLY suited our needs and no vehicle was required to get the National Folk Festival venue (over Easter weekend ) or into the CBD for dining and other activities (traveling mostly on the light rail and Uber).

Over the Easter weekend, breakfast service was a bit disappointing. On the Friday, staff were running themselves ragged. Most breakfast items were depleted by 8.30am. And ordering a bistro coffee afterwards took considerably longer than it should have done. it just seems like they hadn’t planned for a busy Good Friday morning :-/ The staff that were on duty were as diligent and pleasant as they could be, but small children were screaming and other children were playing ‘Chasy’ in the dining room. After that we were not interested in attending breakfast at the hotel again.

The room was absolutely excellent. We had all that we needed and then some, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and a good sized kitchen. Beds were extremely large and comfortable Plenty of seating options (Large lounge, study chair, dining table seats and three day seats. (I usually whinge about the lack of seating) Features also include: independent room A/C, electric curtains, double balcony. Large Shower with great water pressure

We did have quite a bit of trouble with our TV which was eventually fixed but it took well over 90 mins to do so. We had brought the movies package just before the TV went on the blink. Breakfast was ordinary at best & there was a few issues: * Not enough knives, forks & spoons * The "hot" food on offer was barely warm (Bacon, eggs, Sausages etc) * The automatic coffee machine, although very handy, burnt the coffee beans every cup you had. Parking spaces were a little small but I do have a large 4x4.

The entire stay was outstanding. The one bedroom apartment that I stayed in was amazing. It had everything and more that you could imagine. From a comfortable bed, an amazing shower room with a fantastic shower itself, to an amazing sitting, kitchen/dining room that had everything, even the minibar was fully stocked daily with a large selection. The restaurant and bar also had a fantastic atmosphere and selection of fine food and drinks to suit everyone. The staff were lovely and helpful throughout. I would rate Deco Hotel canberra 15 out of 10 and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic hotel experience in canberra. Solo traveller from ireland 🇮🇪. Jimmy. The breakfast was very fresh and had excellent options including oat, almond and soy milk, and coconut (Vegan) yoghurt. I also appreciated the daily newspapers, as well as the books available to read in the lobby gbookshelves. I also value windows that open and allow fresh air, as well as a balcony. The staff were lovely. Another nice touch was the linen chute. which meant that housekeeping staff don't have to push big trolleys of soiled linen around the floor. All these touches made it a very special experience.
