Inclusion of the breakfast at no cost was one reason we chose the Commercial Motel over other offerings in Hay. We also like "old pubs" and we knew the Commercial had been undertaking renovations over the last two years to modernise it. The entrance and lobby to the "new" Commercial had a sense of grandeur. The dining room for breakfast was modern and functional for self-service. The upper level rooms also have access to the balcony area through their french doors, something we will consider next time.

The furniture in our suite looked tired or recycled, otherwise serviceable. I understand the section of the old pub where meals and drinks would be served has not been renovated due to interruptions caused by Covid. Hopefully that will be ready for us next year.

Excellent location across the road for the supermarket and easy walk to bowling club for a great meal, good parking. quiet at night( but not road facing rooms) making if great for a good night’s sleep. The staff on reception are excellent, very attentive, and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Lovely, renovated room and bathroom with all you needed and excellent beds and bedding. . Would not hesitate to recommend it and would definitely stay there again when next in Hay.

Only thing missing is nowhere to hang any clothes

The motel is in the old Commercial Hotel building and has had rooms converted to motel rooms with shower toilet facilities. The building is older style and furniture pretty old but definitely suitable for a stop over for the night. The breakfast room was well done and well supplied. Location is right in the CBD an easy walk to parks, the river and the "town at war" tank paintings. The staff were very accommodating when I had to postpone my stay due to becoming stuck out at Cameron corner due to rain and wet roads.

Bed was quite hard, furniture quite old, rooms could do with a revamp.

Our second stop at the Commercial so we knew the complimentary breakfast was a light one. Perfect for a quick toast/cereal/juice/hot drink before hitting the road - and appropriate for the majority of guests who see Hay as a sensible place to rest on their journey.

Within the context that it really is top value for money, perhaps a bit more of an eye on checking over bedrooms to see it's all on point would be a fair comment to make. Small things like touching up wall paint, flicking away cobwebs, switching out tiny tea cups for better sized mugs; a bit nit-picky but that's what we thought.

The continental breakfast of toast cereal, tea and coffee was just perfect for the traveller to self help. It allowed us to be on our way. Had a lovely breakfast room to chat to other travellers. Parking was great, onsite out the back of the pub and having your own bathroom was excellent. Great value for money

We were on ground floor but if you had a large suitcase the upstairs may have been more difficult. Its a lovely old pub with renovations so some of the upstairs rooms have a nice verandah.

The welcome we received from Tennille was totally and really excellent A very good person, very professional and attentive to the well-being of customers, very charming and welcoming. The room was very well renovated and comfortable, with excellent quality bedding. However, it lacks a microwave to complete the furniture. The internet connection is complicated in the rooms, but accessible in the common areas. The hotel borrows from a real local history, has a lot of character and is undergoing major renovation. It will be truly exceptional when it is finished. A magnificent very large old-fashioned terrace where you can contemplate magnificent sunsets.No need for a swimming pool, you have a magnificent municipal and free one a few steps away. The included breakfast is very simple and available, but deserves a more continental choice.An excellent experience. We really recommend this establishment.

The location is great in the centre of town, so easy to find a place to eat, shop and drink. The accommodation is basic and well matched to the price point. Our room was exceptionally clean with a big and incredibly comfortable king size bed. We just loved that we could have our mini schnauzer stay in the room with us, this made our drive from Sydney to Adelaide so much easier. Breakfast was included, however we skipped breaky and left super early. Would stay again.

This has nothing to do with the accommodation but please be prewarned that Hay (infact probably most of the Riverina towns) gets innondated by mosquitoes when the sun goes down. They didn't come into the room, but we had to abandon our dinner at an alfresco venue. Be prepared and cover yourself with repellent before the sun goes down.

Bed was comfortable and the linen was clean and white. . Fridge microwave aircon kettle. Big bathroom with lots of hot water. Old building but renovated. A novelty. I made an error in booking a twin bed room but they were happy to change it a queen at no extra charge. Breakfast included! Off street parking.

Remote for aircon wasn't working so hard to turn on manually. There was no tea. Cups really small. Room was small but good enough for one night.

Beds are super comfy, shower is spacious and the hot water is instant. Easy instructions for after hours check in. Large gated car park. Rooms are spacious and kept relatively clean.

Didn't have any cutlery besides spoons and coffee mugs. Universal remotes don't work very well with the a/c unit and TV but after a bit we managed to get them both somewhat working okay. Has toaster and kettle but not really a lot of bench space to use them both. But for the price, I'd stay here again for sure.

The room was comfortable and clean, with modern furnishings and the bathroom was big and bright. Parking was secure enough, and the proximity to shops and banks, etc. is great, too. Overall, it was a good place to stay after an 8 and a half hour drive from Queensland.

The microwave appeared to have not been cleaned between guests. A wash cloth from a previous guest was also down the side of the bed between the wall and the bunk.
