Nicholas Royal Motel - No Pets Allowed

The bathroom was nicely renovated and the linen was fresh and tasteful. The bucket and windscreen cleaner outside our room was a thoughtful touch. Well situated in town on the main street. All the comforts of home that a traveller could need. (kettle, toaster, microwave, hairdryer, iron and board)

When the parking area was full, we had to reverse to the end when we drove out at night as we were at the end of the row. We had requested a quiet room though which we were grateful for. They were fully booked (always a good sign!) hence the tight parking.

The location is perfect, the pub next door has lovely meals and the staff are great. The motel has a lovely garden and there was no road noise in our room (room 8). The bathroom was very clean and looked relatively new.

There is no breakfast bowls or spoons which we did expect with a kitchenette (we like our own cereals for breakfast) having said that we made do with coffee mugs and t spoon 😊

Not a ‘lux’ motel but it doesn’t pretend to be. It is spotlessly clean, well positioned in town close to bistro , baker, shops etc. Room provided all amenities, including an overhead fan, small mini bar (at reasonable prices), bucket & squeegee to clean windscreen that other motels didn’t. Owners were cheerful and helpful.

Only having time to stay one night..

Very clean and quiet, despite being next door to a pub and on the main street! Comfortable bed and excellent renovated bathroom, as well as very helpful management.

The room was a little small - we were in a standard Queen room. It wasn't a major problem as we were only staying one night and with minimal luggage, but if you were staying for longer and/or had lots of luggage you may want to request a slightly larger room.

The motel rooms are super clean and the beds are very comfortable. The room size is very good for a family (2 adults and 2 children). The staffs are very nice. Our car broke down on B64 SA, and it took us 5 hours to have it fixed. I contacted the motel, and the lady was very nice and she sorted out how we can check-in after hours. Highly recommended for anyone would like to stay in Hay.

Bed was comfortable and warm, room was clean shower pressure was great. Room was the perfect size for one person, i really liked that there was a fridge with a little freezer so i could freeze my ice packs ready for another day of travelling. Plus my car was right outside my door easy to unpack and pack the car. The owners were so lovely!.

The location was excellent, the room was fresh and clean and the best of this type of accommodation that I have stayed in for some time. It was also very comfortable and well maintained and organised

I liked everything from not having to go searching for the wifi to the comfy bed, the cleanliness and fresh renovations done tastefully. Nothing not to like

It was fresh, clean and comfortable. The shower had good pressure, the bed was just right. The provide a toaster with plates and cutlery. The lighting was good and it was very quiet, even the aircon/heating was quiet. Best of all it was very close to Cafes, bakery and a supermarket.

It had a shower curtain but the bathroom was designed in away that didn’t make the curtain stick to you while you showered so it wasn’t really an issue. It isn’t overly spacious but great for just a night or 2.

My wife and I can say that the Nicholas Royal was the best appointed and comfortable hotel, exceeding that of higher costing options we gave tried. Great hotel, central location to the main pub and eatery, comfy bed, friendly host and a great night's sleep. Can't recommend it enough 😉

Couldn't fault the experience

I liked the general appearance of the motel with the rose bushes and plants. It was appreciated that a bucket with sponge was provided for each cabin to wash car windscreen. Coffee and coffee plunger were a bonus!

I thought it was pet free but the cabin opposite had a dog staying there. Is there a pet free policy or is it flexible? I would have liked a small bowl for cereal for breakfast.
