Hotel Kärntnerhof

The buffet breakfast was superb with good choices including sliced fresh fruit. The location is very good. A corner around the main shopping areas but still quiet. There is a restaurant opposite called boxwood, which is very good. Right next to the hotel is another restaurant that sells delicious crepes :) . Still the whole street is very quite even on the weekend. Room very spacious and airconditioned. There is an elevator on the ground floor. Reception 24/7 and very helpful. Although the hotel is 3 star and doesn't have a restaurant, they still offer room service for tea/coffee and drinks, but right next to the hotel there are 2 very good restaurants and many others just a minute walk away around the corner. :) Definately recommend and if we go again to vienna, we will book here again. 10/10 for the hotel location and cleanliness. Very cosy place.

Bathroom was nice and Ok but there was this kind of transperent plastic seperator that was supposed to not let water splash on the floor from the shower but it was kind of loose, and kept losing its position, so basically was useless. Just a suggestion, might as well put a simpler and normal plastic curtain which would have done the same if not better job. This was the only thing that we didn't 'like' in the room. Everything else was just perfect. Definately won't stop us from going there again but it's something that we noted and maybe the hotel management can fix .

Kärtnerhof is in the perfect place to walk to most places and it is very close to 2 underground stops and easy walk to boat tours, yet it is tucked away on a street that is quiet at night. The staff is very helpful with anything we needed. They are very knowledgeable about everything Vienna and beyond and can help get tickets to concerts and admission to places. All of the staff is very nice. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and everything is very clean. Breakfast was great and got us ready for a day of walking.

The only thing I wish they had was a grab bar for the tub. The other hotels we stayed at in Austria didn’t have them either. I’m just afraid of slipping in the tub.

Super location, clean with wonderful staff, good breakfast, loved that it was a local rather than chain hotel. Nice charm. Good breakfast served until 11 AM, so we could sleep in if we wanted.

Thankfully, we had an air conditioned room that stayed comfortable. And there was nothing the hotel could do about it, but it was sooooo hot in Vienna during our stay. That made the common areas of the hotel very hot. Also flagging that rooms on the 6th floor require a walk up a flight of stairs from the 5th floor. Fine for us, but not ideal for people with mobility issues.

Loved the location! Three excellent restaurants very close by and public transportation also very close! Also loved the quietness of the street compared to the noise, autos and lots of people only a few blocks away. Always felt great to come back to our peaceful environs around the hotel. My wife, an energy efficiency guru, appreciated the energy efficient heat pump in our room which, incidentally, made temperature control for our room very easy!

Could have used a mirror that was not in a closet.

The hotel is in an amazing location in the middle of Vieena. You can walk everywhere in the middle of the city. Train and subway stations are less than 5 minutes away. Lots of sites and restaurants close by. The hotel itself has wonderful and helpful staff that are a credit and have world-class service. My family enjoyed every minute of the holiday. I would have liked to see a kettle with tea & coffee in the room. Also, maybe a small fridge. There's tea & coffee available downstairs in the reception area during the afternoon and evening.

This was are second stay at the Karntnerhof Hotel and it was even better that the first. The location could not be better, situated in a small close less than 200m from the main pedestrian are area that leads to all the main attractions of the Vienna. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English (much better than my very limited German). There was a good variety of cold and hot food for breakfast. The addition of aircon in the rooms during the recent renovations was a most welcome addition in the 36c+ August heat. The beds were large and comfortable with a choice of two pillows - one thicker than the other. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean. Sitting on the roof terrace during the evening with a nice glass of wine was always a nice way to end the day.

Nothing ! - The Karntnerhof was perfect for our needs and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there during out next visit to Vienna

- Water pressure in shower a bit low - Mattress rather soft (seemed a bit too old/used maybe) - Long waiting times for elevator (not a big deal obviously)

We loved this hotel! It is absolutely tremendous! It was perfect! ~~~ incredibly clean..the staff were phenomenal! Our room was breathtaking! We truly loved every minute in this hotel! The breakfast was exceptional! The quality of the food was magnificent! And the breakfast staff were fabulous!! The hotel location is IDEAL! so so close to St Stephansdom and very easily accessible to the train station! We cannot wait to return to this hotel! My family are very particular and for us all to LOVE this hotel speaks volumes!

The location is super convenient. A few minute's walk to the subway station and Stephan Church, commercial street. Most places in District 1 can be reached on foot. The hotel staff was very polite and hard working. Breakfast was nice, the basic stuff but good enough to start the day. Food and beverages were refilled often and cleaned frequently. Also, the elevator and the staircase were fancy, and I liked them a lot. The room was not large but that was not my priority. The rooftop free space is nice and cozy too.

I would not recommend this hotel if you meet the following conditions. - If you are taller than 170cm (the size of the bed) - If you are sensitive to noise. There is a popular restaurant outside the hotel, and the noise can be heard from neighbors next room. - If you need a large space room - It may not be an ideal place for little kids One thing to add is the room keys are traditional metal keys (not card keys) and you need to lock the door when you go out. Make sure you don't forget this until you get used to it.

It is a great choice for families and also individual travelers - it is in the heart of the city - just a few minutes from St.Stephan's cathedral and walking zone. The food is very good, and the stuff as well ! There is a large parking area in front of the hotel

it is a little bit hard to find the location, since it is in the very centre of the city.. navigation helps but it is also helpfull to call the stuff and ask for additional details..
