Hotel Capricorno

The room was fine - but not what we upgraded to. We chose a room room with a balcony and “inner courtyard” view and that choice was more expensive than a room without the “courtyard view”. There is no “inner courtyard” at this hotel! Our view was an alley/side street with another building straight in front of us with graffiti on the wall. That was our view. The other rooms may face the Main Street with at least something to look at. So, if you choose this property, be aware and don’t spend extra for that as we did. We spent almost $300/night for this adequate, but smaller-size room with no view and a balcony you wouldn’t sit out on b/c of the ugly view. The staff was nice, the breakfast was good, all the regular choices of breads, jams, cereal, meat & cheeses; and you can order eggs to be made for you. The location is right next to the “U” (subway) and trams. We didn’t realize until the 3rd day that the neighborhood behind the hotel had many good, quaint restaurants and shops. So explore this area sooner rather than later. It’s not on all the “must see & so lists”.

The false advertising mentioned above and the high cost because of it.

A truly pleasant stay. If you are looking for the best location to spend your days in Wien, Capricorno is only a breath away from the main centre of the city, either you want to walk or take the U-Bahn, with the station being just across the street from the hotel. Spacious rooms, really clean hotel and the stars of our stay, the personnel. Something that the ownership and the management should be proud of, as they made our stay remarkable. From Matthias and the reception team, to Andrea and the rest of the ladies who served us in the breakfast room always with the warmest smile and eagerness. Last but not least, the cleaning service. Spotless room cleaning and always on the requested time. We thank you all for a great stay and we will definitely come back on our next visit in Wien.

1. This is not a luxury stay - but wins my heart for its service and warmth. Hotel staff feels like one big family. We were here across Christmas and I had difficulty booking dinner/meals across Christmas as I did not know places will get booked up way in advance...hence I reached out to the hotel for help. They tried so hard to secure us seats at restaurants and I am very grateful once again..life saver. 2. There were snacks/tea provided during afternoon. great for recharge during winter. 3. Room was large and clean. If you need additional equipment etc, you can always reach out to the hotel staff for help:) 4. Once again hotel staff were all so welcoming and nice. Thank you guys! 5. Location was pretty central! But away from the noisy st steven area.

1. some facilities might seem dated but it was not a problem for us.

We thought the staff were excellent- from the front desk to the cleaners and kitchen staff - all excellent. Fantastic location, right next to an underground station, which is our preferred type of transport. Breakfast was great. The renovations were well done, and the windows were very good at cutting out any outside noise.

Our only problem was the cost per night - we thought it was a little on the expensive side. But really, there was nothing that we didn’t like

Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Happy to offer advice regarding transport and local establishments to dine at. Always greeted with a friendly welcome every time I came back to the hotel. The breakfast ladies were super friendly.

Booked a single room and initially was given a horrible, old room with a stale smell. After discussion with reception staff, I was given a much better room (just like the one advertised). Unfortunately, there was a lot of noise from roadworks/building works in the middle of the night but that was not the fault of the hotel.

The breakfast was excellent. The staff were bright and friendly and ensured everyone got what they wanted and kept the buffet part loaded. Added bonus was the afternoon tea and cake. The room was kept very clean and again staff were friendly and big smiles. The reception ladies helped us lot with advice and bookings and was spot on. Overall the staff really made the visit happy.

All basically good, the room was as expected, only comment, I had hoped for a better view from the front balcony.

Location, cleanliness, friendly and efficient staff. The hotel is within walking distance of the historic centre (incredible architecture) including many restaurants and bars. The airport bus stop is nearby within walking distance. Room change (see below) was a vast improvement and done efficiently. Breakfast was delicious. Tea and cake every afternoon was a wonderful offer after sightseeing. Fresh apples, tea and coffee always available.

The only issue was my initial room that overlooked a cobbled street which meant every time a car drove by, it was very noisy and disturbed my sleep - if you don't mind sleeping with the windows closed, this will not be a bother to you.

Amazing hotel. Perfect location. Warm welcoming faces. Wonderful room with plenty of space, warm, facing the river. Breakfast with a satisfying variety and with the ideal people serving for starting your day. Parking under the hotel. Quiet hotel, 10 minutes walking distance from the Cathedral with a lot of restaurants and coffee shops around. For sure my choice when I'll visit Vienna in the future.

Hair shampoo could be offered.

Centrally located with good access to the sights. Room was comfortable, good shower, Balcony gave extra living space, it overlooked the river, which was the other side of a main road. Breakfast was good with eggs cooked fresh to order. Other breakfast items were available in buffet style, not much choice but plenty to satisfy.

The noise from the road was a small issue to us, it seemed to be the main route for emergency vehicles, if you want a quiet room perhaps this is not for you.

My room had a balcony, really came in handy as it was quite hot when I visited. AC worked really well in the room. The housekeeping and breakfast room staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. Had positive interactions with all of them. You won’t need a cab or train commute much if you stay at this hotel. It’s right in the centre and a walking distance to most Vienna highlights.

I’m being picky here - Initially my room smelt a bit stale but after blasting the AC, everything was pleasant. Minor confusion at check in as they gave me a room that didn’t have a balcony but I had paid extra for a balcony room. I went back downstairs to resolve it and they assigned a new room - not a big deal.
