I cannot recommend B&B Achilles highly enough; we have just had a wonderful few days in Ghent, and this accommodation was exceptional, possibly the nicest room we have ever stayed in. It was a complete joy to return there each day after enjoying the wonders of Ghent. We received a really warm welcome and the staff were all kind and chatty and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast was amazing; a selection of Continental treats and optional extra choices of pancakes, eggs cooked to your liking and yoghurt, granola and berries. Complimentary bottled water, and hot drinks available in the lounge. There was also an honesty bar with wines and gins. The room was sleek and modern, pale carpets, scandi style, beautiful spacious bathroom and shower. An absolute pleasure to stay here ; thank you B&B Achilles; a wonderful experience.

Nothing!

A fabulous Bed and Breakfast just a short walk, 15 mins, from the main station and not much further from the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful and we dropped off our cases so we could make the most of our stay. We had a lovely room, which was beautifully appointed. The breakfast was excellent. The added bonus, was the small reception area where we could help ourselves to tea and coffee. Would not hesitate to stay here if we visit Gent...which is a lovely friendly city with excellent art galleries museums etc.

The stairs are quite steep. We are in our mid-60s, and they weren't a problem to us, but it is the only thing that might be an issue for others.

At the end of a 30 day tour of seven European countries staying in 14 hotels this was our last night. And it's fair to say we (not knowingly) had saved the best hotel to last. The hotel is comfortable and smart, furnished and decorated in the style of the elegant owner. A comfortable bed, a good size of room and a perfectly designed and appointed bathroom. A fab breakfast and what else could one ask for? The location, seemingly a little away from the historic centre could be a bit of a deterrent but the great thing about Ghent is that it is not overrun with tourists and the outlying areas have numerous local bars and restaurants catering entirely to the locals. Shall definitely return.

The hotel operates a fairly strict check-in at 15:00 policy so time your arrival accordingly. However, we were fortunate in being given access to the room slightly earlier.

Everything, it was perfect. From the first contacts with the host up to the last one. The room was gorgeous, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom large enough, well decorated and, for once in a long serie of b&b, the shower & tap were functioning perfectly...

Room for improvement : during the first night someone rang at the door several times, insisting, while we were sleeping on the room just above the entrance - it woke us up. The second night, some people sleeping in the other rooms were very noisy and it woke us up too. Maybe do something about the policy for the guests? Also, there were a lot of mosquitoes when we arrived - maybe just spray some natural repellent before new guests arrives?

Just wow. Our room and the whole building were stunning. Beautiful features, very clean and cosy. Our plane was delayed meaning we missed our connection, but Betty was so kind and understanding and helped us on the phone. She made sure we could get in after closing hours. Breakfast was out of this world. We were so looked after by Bibian who was the sweetest person and by Betty. Both made us feel so welcome and the food was delicious. Ines was also very kind when we came back to collect our bags. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Ghent. Thank you for everything! P.s. apologies as I am certain I will have spelled your names incorrectly x

Very clean, great facilities (relatively new stylish fit out), very comfortable bed, super friendly staff (everyone I spoke to was lovely) and generous & excellent breakfast. The B&B is a little far from the centre of town but also means that that area is quiet at night. Highly recommended.

No deal breakers for me, but there are no stairs so if mobility is an issue then this place might not be for you. Also no kettle in the room, tea and coffee facilities are downstairs, cups don't have handles so it's quite a walk with a hot cup up the stairs!

Lovely property, stylishly decorated. Good-sized room with very comfortable bed. It felt more like a home-from-home than a hotel room. Very friendly, helpful staff and gorgeous breakfast, so beautifully presented. Great location, in easy walking distance from the city centre and all the main tourist attractions. Secure underground parking just around the corner. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Just a personal thing, but the glass door to the bathroom felt a bit odd, even for a couple!

The room was clean. Bed was comfortable and there were two types of pillows (firm and soft) which was a bonus. Free water and coffee. Breakfast was tasty. Good location between the downtown and the museums near the college. Nice little outdoor seating area and AC in the room.

We were on the top floor, 4 steep flights up. Thankfully we only had backpacks. That wasn't clear when booking the room. Everyone seemed really reserved and not welcoming. Didn't get a b&b vibe, more like a hotel.

Excellent, a nice welcome, good rooms, good bed, great shower, nice breakfast

There was a loud fair in the nearby square - apparently a yearly event (for 3 weeks ?) - shrieking adolescents seeking sensation and fun on rollercoasters one block away ... and in the morning many beer cans and some broken glass in the streets. But once we entered the B&B, it felt good. The two couples in our party had rooms at the back of the house, and we came back after midnight ... we assume the fair was asked to close all the "attractions" (not attractive to me ... nor to most of the clients of this classy B&B I assume) at 1am ... as we did not hear much of it anymore.

Achilles is situated on a tree-lined street, set in an attractive Art Nouveau building whose interior has been expertly refurbished in minimalist modern style. Very restful. Breakfast was a masterclass of perfect presentation. Looked and tasted delicious...taste bombs! Just could not eat it all. (Hope nothing was wasted.) Staff were attentive and welcoming. Quiet and peaceful location. 30 min walk from centre of town, or a short walk to the Number 1 tram; Number 4 tram not too far. Used the water taxi to St Peter's Abbey. The Gent City Card very useful.

Shower head nozzles, a few were semi-blocked. Cleared them by rubbing the nozzles. (I'm tall... the ceilings are very high)
