This was a formal baronial palace converted to a hotel, obviously the splendid decorations, the room sized well reflected those. The location was perfect, the tram and bus stops were almost in the front. This was just in the right place, the tourist attractions were in walking distance yet, there were no disturbances by busy crowd and the nights were quiet. The only problem was the internet, which time to time was good but other time was very erratic and unreliable. The breakfast service in my opinion was excellent, there were many very healthy, yet good tasting selection, wonderful coffee machine. All the staff who worked there were excellent, helpful, speak excellent English.
The only issue was the internet connection, just as I wrote above. Additionally a small refrigerator could have been a good aid for comfort.

Hotel certainly had a certain charm as did the young staff. It gave a good idea of a gracious Ghent town house in its past Good safe parking. Good breakfast. Quiet, convenient location. Easy walk into centre or regular tram service if feeling too tired or too hot to walk - especially returning after a long day in the city! Pleasant public rooms.
Our room had very obviously been smoked in. Our clothes reeked of smoke for days after we had left. Hotel had charm but well past its prime. More faded and jaded than shabby chic especially on 3rd floor. Carpets on stairs not vacuumed while we were there. Lighting poor on staircase. No aircon but we knew that when we booked - but not that we would be there in the middle of a heatwave! Sorry to be so negative but we felt thay unless a goodly sum is spent on it soon it would completely lose its undoubted charm and therefore its high ratings. No staff in- house at night.⁰

Very interesting hotel building with character. Easy to walk to the centre of Ghent from the hotel (which is full of fabulous medieval buildings). We had a deluxe room and it was very spacious. Bed was comfortable. Staff friendly. They were able to arrange private parking for our car but have only a small number of such spaces so book in advance.
Quite a lot of stairs up to bedroom (floors have high ceilings). No air conditioning or fridge in room. No cafes or supermarkets super close to hotel (so best to have hotel breakfast).

Very specific old-style furniture, but not very practical. The recessed tub was interesting but the water was falling from more than 3 meters it was hard to take the shower. The hotel has a never-seen individual style & atmosphere. The breakfast was poor and identical on all days. The kind staff, also helped us to reserve dinner.
No desk to work at. Poor breakfast. No overnight reception (we arrived evening and if we had a delay truly could not know how to get into our room). Noisy neighboring school. No heating in the middle "living" room. There are no shelves in the closet

Our room was huge in this beautiful historic mansion. The antique furniture and decor was charming. Our bed was very comfortable. The staff were helpful and so nice! This hotel has the BEST buffet breakfast I have ever enjoyed at a hotel, a great selection of pastries and breads, meat, cheese, yogurt , fresh cut fruits etc.all presented beautifully. If you need Novatel style cookie cutter rooms this is not for you...but if you are open to letting the historic charm envelope you in this unique hotel you will enjoy it! Tip: get the parking if available

They were able to give us the Egyptian room upon request. The best breakfast in Ghent. It is a time warp when you step inside. This is place oozes history and takes you back to a time when travel was simpler. Its not for the person who likes it shiny and contemporary. It was like staying in a museum. Parking is available upon request in the garage next to the entrance. The tram stop to city center is a minute walk from the hotel. Its quirky, but we enjoyed it immensely.

Excellent location, friendly & helpful staff, very big room.
Bathroom very dated, shower did not drain very well so you had to be very cautious of how much water was pooling up in the bottom of the shower. It also had a moldy/damp smell in the bathroom which may have been a blocked drain and the smell would waft into the main bedroom area so you had to leave a window open.

+very atmospheric small hotel, with comfortable rooms. no elevator - please keep this in mind when choosing. the hotel has 3 floors, the cheapest rooms are on top good breakfast, for such a hotel, very good choice of food Pretty clean, they provided a kettle in the room. pretty quiet and peaceful tram stop nearby generally satisfied
-the administrator at the reception likes to go for a walk for 10-15 minutes, leaving a note. after arrival to the hotel we couldn’t come in, because the administrator left and the phone written on the door didn't answer. But other than that the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The hotel has a great (art deco?) interieur, very helpful staff and a nice calm garden in the background. If you like old luxury interieurs, this is the place for you. We stayed in room 1A with the large old bathroom. We felt like in and old movie. The breakfest was decent. They had a (paid) locked garage for us. The location is very good being a bit outside of the old town hassle but still in the city center.
Some of the interiour seems untouched from the time is has been installed. Don't expect it to be fully functional. Things like a dripping hot water faucet or incandescent light bulbs (no LED) fall a little out of time.

The location of the hotel was brilliant, not to far from the motorway (easy to find) as well as from the city center (walking distance). The hotel as well as the room have a very nice period charm, and if requested you can get a parking space as well. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately we did not have time to have breakfast, but the buffet we saw was very good looking.
