Lunatree is in a great location, within easy walking distance of the main attractions and restaurants in the historical centre. The property has an eclectic mix of furniture and furnishings, including antique items, that provide for a wonderful stay. Serge is keen to share the history and provenance of his house and items contained therein - about which he is most engaging and enthusiastic. The breakfast is well-prepared and includes a range of local cheeses and breads, with eggs and bacon to order. Overall, a memorable stay. Lunatree and Mechelen are well worth repeat visits.

Excellent central location within five minutes walk from the stunning tower of St. Rumbold's Cathedral and the Grote Markt. Also, very close to Het Anker Brewery and the UNESCO listed Large Beguinage. Serge the owner's creativity shone throughout the house in which we were made to feel very welcome. A fascinating layout and mixture of furniture, art and music. Wished we could have stayed longer asking questions about the property and Mechelen. An artisan breakfast fuelled us for our day on the bike!

A beautiful place in the historic center of Mechelen. A protected "heren" house, from the beginning of the last century. Excellent location, beautiful central square - Grote Markt (Grande Place), and Vismarkt (Fish Market) with all restaurants and cafes with terraces are just 1-minute walk. A very nice bathroom with a modern bath and delicious shampoos and gels. The host is an extraordinary person, an artist himself, who can tell you everything about history and art in Mechelen. Breakfast is just excellent: coffee, eggs, fruits, warm pastry, charcuterie, everything you need for a good start.

The second bedroom actually has a good sofa bed, not a real double bed. It was a bit uncomfortable for 2 people.

Serge was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. All was great! I enjoyed that Serge kindly volunteered to show around in the building including his family spaces. Fascinating how the spaces are used and how furniture ( including big ones :) ) where moved into the home. Bright and totally private room overlooking the neighboring roofs. Comfortable queen bed.

All was great! I would have liked to meet other travelers rather than being alone at breakfast.

Serge was amazing! He made us feel like we were a part of his family, gave us tips of all the ins and outs of Mechelen, and cooked us a beautiful breakfast! I highly recommend staying here!

We didn’t like that we had to go back to the States after only spending two days in Mechelen, 🤪 we wanted to stay longer…, but really, there was nothing to complain about during our stay.

A beautiful house in a perfect location, carefully furnished by an erudite, entertaining and meticulously attentive host. Serge is a fount of creativity, and has lovingly created a magical place to stay, comfortable and fascinating. It's clearly an extension of his home, not a soulless hotel. He went out of his way to welcome us and offer endless tips on how and where to enjoy Mechelen. As if that weren't enough, he's a superb cook, and the breakfasts were everything we could have desired.

The proprietor Serge asked on check what time we would like breakfast! We went for 10.00 Breakfast was served in a cosy farmhouse style kitchen which had a wood burning Aga our bacon and eggs were freshly perfectly cooked right on time . There was a wide ranging buffet of fresh produce a selection of fresh bread ! Fruit yoghurts etc absolutely excellent ! Serge showed us around explained how everything works ! Our first time in apartment rather than a hotel ! When we return to Luna tree whn return to Mechelen !

Absolutely nothing!

The suite we occupied in Serge’s home is fabulous…large spacious and decorated in his own inimitable style,plus music in every room. Serge is a knowledgeable passionate and generous host who made every effort to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable - including the best breakfast! We loved it.

There was nothing to fault

Beautiful decor , lots of space for family of 4 with private bathroom, sunroom and deck. Knowledgeable host who went out of his way to get breakfast food my daughters liked

So many beautiful artifacts I was a little worried we might damage something- glad our children were older

Serge is a very kind host that takes great care of his guests. Lunatree is in the heart of Mechelen, and everything is easily reachable by foot. Addedd value is that the hotel is inside a typical belgian house, which I think is an additional reason to book a room at Lunatreee.
