I chose the Above Tide Motel due to it's closeness to the hospital and it's inexpensiveness. I knew the property was a budget friendly one, and the room did seem old. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was and by how well appointed it was. I had everything I needed for a 2 night stay. Microwave, keurig, fridge, wifi, and lots of lighting in all the right places. I was on the ground floor with a queen sized bed. A small room, perfect for one person. But the best part was the little grassy area right out my front door - 2 lounge chairs directly overlooking the ocean. I watched plenty of ships pass by and heard sea lions barking at night. I really enjoyed my stay!

The bathroom was very very tiny. OK for one person though.

Room was a bit dark, could hear people moving around upstairs. Bed creaked everytime you moved.

We stay here annually and always enjoy our stay. This year it seemed like the rooms had an upgrade which was lovely! The second bed is no longer a fold out couch but a full on queen bed - extremely comfortable too. It’s always kept clean, service is great, and there is AC!! The AC is loud though so if you have trouble sleeping with noise it may be an issue, but for us it is PERFECT! The ability to cook our own meals was awesome and eating with that view is breathtaking. Looking forward to next year already!

People are responsible for washing their own dishes so sometimes the dishes are not necessarily up to type A standards.

Nice hotel, great view from the deck. Clean, quiet rooms with comfortable beds. The staff was accommodating when we asked for extra towels. Good sized fridge. Everything that was advertised was provided. They have laundry facilities on site for guests to use.

Parking stalls were awkward to get into and out of, but there were enough for all of the rooms.

The room had a great view and plenty of fixtures such as 3 chairs and a table, a large amount of storage for bags and things, good fridge. Close to downtown but far enough away to be peaceful. The road in front is fairly busy but the rooms all face towards the water on the other side so it seems more remote than it is. We did not have time to use the lawn / outdoor lounge area but it looked nice. At lower tides there is walking on the cobble beach.

It's not new or luxurious. But if you appreciate good function and value, you get it here.

Really friendly, helpful staff! Beautiful ocean views - great place to sit outside with a coffee in the mornings, or watch the sunset. Basic but clean room and private bathroom. An easy 20-minute walk into downtown Campbell River, or there are a lot of public buses that go past quite regularly and make it easy to get to and fro even without a car.

Room & bathroom were a bit dated, tea wasn't supplied in the room (but there was a stash at reception!)

View was wonderful on patio outside of suite. Smell of the sea added to the experience Very quiet and great environment to think. The hotel was very cozy and had a very relaxing energy about it. Unlike the big chains, it had its own feeling and felt homey.

Over all no negatives. I would say the lower levels suites could use a a bit more renovation as they did look tired. Lighting was limited due to small windows in the suite i was staying.

The motel is quite plain -- some might say 3 star -- cinder block construction and minimalist decor. But it is super clean, the cinder block gives good sound insulation (quiet!) and the balcony views are terrific. Sliding door on balcony gives nice cooling breeze. Very comfy bed! Staff really friendly and helpful. Wifi good and reliable. So for me, I would say 4 star.

It feels kinda "budget" (as in: tiny paper cups instead of real glasses, wall phone with noisy connection, bathtub disabled so shower only, no alarm clock, Keurig type coffeemaker). The parking is a little tight (tricky backing out in limited space between parking spots and a concrete wall). Highway noise is pretty loud until later evening.

We love our stay the room is spacious and clean and the view is amazing
