We originally booked a suite with two queen beds, but were told when we arrived that they had given that suite to another party because there were four of them and only two of us (and a dog). We prefer two beds, but weren’t given that option even though we booked two weeks in advance and had it confirmed.

The breakfast was typical of any hotel offering it that I have stayed at. Some things better than others but left not feeling hungry to start the day.
Was a little disappointed that our room was on the lower floor so could not see out the windows unless I stood on the bed. Would have had a beautiful view of the lake if we would have been one floor up. I had read some bad reviews about being "in the basement" but I really didn't feel like that's where I was. The room was large, clean and the beds were comfortable so I got over the fact I could not "see out the windows". We spent two nights there exploring Thunder Bay so when we were back in the room we were ready to flop on the beds and watch TV so I didn't really care about looking out the windows. I love old buildings and it was lovely to see that they made this relic into a hotel. It was very pretty lit up in the evening.

The beds--the most comfy beds in town with nice linens. The new person at reception (?Nicole) is a breath of fresh air. Lorinda who I sometimes see at reception is friendly and very helpful, going above her duty.
Breakfast is very basic: can provide better quality products such as better bread. I miss the Acca Kappa products that they used to offer. The current products offered is over-fragranced that I find off-putting. In previous visits I am greeted (if there is even any greeting) by dour people without a smile. I am struggling to bring my suitcase up some steps and a hotel employee, instead of maybe helping, just showed his impatience and rushed by me as soon as I moved to the side to allow him to pass.

I loved that this is a historical building. It made the visit very unique, and I was happy that it wasn't just another generic, boring hotel. The staff that I interacted with were also very nice and curtious, even when their computer systems were slow. The breakfasts were also good for a continental breakfast. There was actual HOT FOOD, compared to other hotels where the breakfasts are cold. Overall, it was great.
It was more of a pet peeve than anything: because there was a wedding going on at the same time, I was very worried about getting parking at the hotel. I never knew if the guests of the wedding would be taking over the parking area or not. Also, my room was located in the basement of the hotel, right under the stairs at the entrance of the hotel. It was very loud, which made it hard to sleep.

The building itself is, obviously, very cool and I loved that the halls still carried that old, administrative, smell of 19th century building. The high ceilings were awesome and, although I didn't like being directly across the hall from the main lobby elevators and front desk, I liked the view of Sleeping Giant.
The breakfast wasn't good. At all. The 1 person cleaning and refilling things was very slow and the food was both limited and disappointing. Soggy hashbrowns and instant bacon aren't awesome options. I also noticed some things overlooked - like corners being cut. Sills were clean, but baseboards weren't. There was a half eaten salad left in our refrigerator. And we weren't told where the ice machine or any other facilities were.

We loved the location as we could admire the bay during sunrise and sunset, a perfectly maintained and repurposed building with lots of history, the price was right considering the ratings, all the amenities in the building and the room were a nice a surprise, the included breakfast was a really nice touch, staff was helpful and friendly, it was a short stay but we will definitely book again the next time we visit the city.
It was such a short stay that it would be impossible to rate everything included, but for the basic and the plus things we didn't expect, everything was perfect, we'd love to come back for a longer stay,

I loved the view from our window, the sleeping giant. Close walk to the pier. Super comfortable beds. Loved the shower doors instead of a shower curtain. Very clean and inviting.
The breakfast could have included eggs other than cold boiled. Otherwise everything was exceptional. The floor was creaky, understandable, I am just glad we were on the top floor.

The hotel is in an old-ish wonderful building, with extra high ceilings and wonderful rooms. The breakfast was nice with a lot of choice. The staff was nice, friendly and helping. We really enjoyed our romantic vacation.
Our room had only one robe, one pair of sleepers and one set of bath soaps which was weird considering that i made sure to let the hotel know there will be 2 people, but it wasn't too bad. I'm sure the staff would provide us with all we would require.

Breakfast was above average. They focused on providing a limited but adequate range of higher quality offerings. Parking was very convenient. I had an extra heavy suitcase so I appreciated their 'handicap' entrance. The person on the front desk was very responsive to my inquiries when I first arrived. And although the facility has been modernized with respect to services and electronics there is enough of the original woodwork and layout to give you a feeling of the the buildings historical purpose. A great view from the front of the building.
No suggestions. It seems to me they have gone out of their way to make one's stay worthwhile.

Very comfortable beds, pillows, and linens! Very clean hotel. Great central location. Easy walking to downtown. Free parking near the door next to the building. Huge beautiful nicely recently remodeled rooms. Quiet hotel. Beautiful historic building with high ceilings, woodwork, and crystal chandeliers and sconces. Breakfast was decent. Hot options were scrambled eggs, country potatoes and bacon or sausage links depending on the day. Toast, cereal, muffins, yogurt, apples/ oranges were the other options. Staff is friendly.
The door to the shower opens toward the wall and it's difficult to turn on the shower. You get wet from the cold water. There's no towel hook so I had to thread the towel through the shower handle. I wish breakfast had more hot savory options and options like waffles, pancakes, or mixed fruit and juice.
