Excellent breakfast with lots of variety and menu changed daily. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable English speaking concierge and overall great service from staff. Location was excellent with metro station and key shopping streets close by. It was lovely staying in a heritage building with a beautiful garden in the charming & quieter French district after sightseeing in the busier parts of Shanghai. Large, clean and comfortable rooms with a lovely view.

Room service took a long time and limited menu after 11pm.

the room was simply wow ... the hotel was a beautiful picturesque establishment.... everything inside the room was stunning. the view at night was incredible....

from the check in things were bad, i waited almost 1 hour for check in. they tried my card 5 times after told me oh... we dont accept debit card. they should put this on booking.com. they told me they only accept credit card. i tried to change usd 300 , it was almost like the chinese intelligence had to approve it. i had to wait 30 minutes and provide business details and all contacts in my country. omg.... this might spoil ones stay... but once you are past the bureaucracies then you start to enjoy the hotel.

The property is located very conveniently in a bustling area, near a subway station. It has a gorgeous exterior and lush gardens. Service is very good, helpful if you need information, support, bookings and so on. Rooms are clean though a little old (it is a historic building!) so understandable but everything works well. Water pressure, aircon and all. Plenty of lifts and quiet from the 12th floor where I was.

Great if you could have a walking map of the area and attractions within walking distance or a how to guide to attractions in Shanghai?

- Great location - Lovely team members - Spacious room - Nice amenities - Attempts at eco-friendliness were made - Recycling bin - Friendly spa people - Lots to do in the lobby - Well-lit room - They called a cab for us and they do wake-up calls as well - The elevators are really cool - your floor number automatically lights up when you scan your room card - Love the Japanese toilet with bidet function

- The spaces in the parking garage are really small - We smelled cigarette smoke in the hallway numerous times even though smoking is supposedly not allowed - I noticed hairs that didn't belong to us on the side of the bathtub - so cleanliness could be improved - There was a notice saying that only towels left in the hamper would be changed, but all of our towels were changed every time - this is nice, but not eco-friendly - The Swedish massage at the spa was not very authentic and there's weirdly a window in the door where people could see into the room. Client modesty was not really considered in general, and I felt rushed beforehand - Sometimes you could hear construction noise from the street until past 11pm, or noise from the hallway

Love the location of the hotel while I still have a quiet place and garden to enjoy.

A hotel with stories, Okura Garden is what you are looking for in the heart of Shanghai. It was one of the first five star luxurious hotels in Shanghai, although a bit old, it never loses its charm. The room is clean and well maintained, services from staff were great. I enjoyed the old style sauna, which brought back a lot of memories. The hotel is centrally located in Shanghai, convinient to move around from the hotel. The architecture is magnificient, the garden is beautiful. Loved my stay!

Facilities a bit old, but very well maintained.

As a Shanghainese, this time was my first time staying there. It surprised me. Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai is very famous for its food, butter cookies & service. The room is super clean, detailed and comfortable. If you want to know more about Shanghai, traditional/ modern. it’s definitely among the best hotels in Shanghai. The location is perfect, the metro is nearby. I am super impressed. Also, thank you Miss Li Hua Feng 李化凤（receptionist) for the professional service.

The staff were all nice and friendly, the service is unbeatable. The location is prime in Shanghai. The facility is bit old given its an old hotel, but they overall did good job on maintenance. What's also amazing is that the sound proof in the room is amazing.

The carpet in the rooms should be replaced soon. I didn't like being asked to use swimming hat in the pool, considering my past experience that 5 star hotels normally don't request their guest to use it.

I love the location as it is in a central location very convenient. The morning breakfast buffet is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned daily with bottle water.

I wish my room could be upgraded free to a better room as I stayed there for over 2 weeks.

The hotel maintains classic art deco style with relatively modern accommodation built onto it. The rooms and facilities were good and the staff outstanding. They were courteous and very helpful. The swimming pool and spa experience was also very good. We ate a few meals on the Rose Coffee House which serves meals all day and should be called “Rose Coffee House and Restaurant .
