Have been apprehensive of writing hospitality review, as it is very much down to personal perception and comparison of previous experiences. The staff here are young but very approachable, and make great effort to satisfy costumers' potential needs. Special thank you to the room service, the bar lounge staff, front desk staff, and David from the Concierge. The facility is clean, comfortable, and convenient at 5-star standard. The room I used has minor soundproofing issue, but it speaks more of some of the guests instead of the facility. Toiletry are well provided and delicate for use. Cotton wool or cotton pads are not provided, but I didn't make special requests. The ironing facility helped a great deal for me to be more presentable in the rush of travel. The bar lounge is a must-try for undisturbed wind-down in the evening. The hotel location is absolutely amazing. Its own history has witnessed the open economy of Shanghai in the recent decades as well as being surrounded by contemporary and historic landmarks. A great mix of local daily life and luxurious surrounding in comfortable walking distance. It has been a memorable stay, look forward to the opportunity coming back, and sincere wishes to the hotel and staff going from strength to strength.

The location of this upscale hotel is excellent. Close to metro stations and a short taxi ride from Shanghai Railway Station and with good transport links to the airport - metro, Maglev and taxi are all viable and economic options. The reception and check-in process was smooth and professional and was followed by courteous guidance to the room. The room itself was scrupulously clean and welcoming. I was pleased to see that shampoo, conditioner and shower gel was offered in dispensers, not those silly and wasteful tiny bottles. After a restful night's sleep breakfast awaited. The ground/first floor offered a dazzling array of dishes to suit the everyone from the health concious to those who enjoy a hearty egg and bacon feast. The food was fresh and and regularly refreshed. You eat as much as you like and, the service was attentive and courteous. The breakfast is at a reasonable price, especially when included in the room price for two people - worth having!

Not much to report on the negative side. I suppose the price of the stay was a little higher than I would have liked. The experience was great, but I have stayed in less expensive hotels that offer equally good service. I also think that the bar and restaurant were over priced. If memory serves, a plate of lamb chops, couscous and a glass of wine came to about 400RMB and a cup of latte coffee was about 80RMB. The quality was good, but better and more affordable options aboud in Shanghai. (message to the managment - your restaurant wouldn't be empty in the evening if you offered a wider menu and competed with the local restaurants)

Location was superb, the room with stunning views and very comfy. Staff was very friendly and personalized attention.

A bit of harassment to do Covid tests when I was aware of doing them and already proved I had done. Facilities not open (due to Covid).

Location for business. the team were kind to extend my check out time beyond regular times.

language was an issue and it was a bit hard to communicate. Yet its a general challenge across country and the team were friendly. It was hard to find the concierge at his deck, and i had to sort out things myself and asked for help from other team members who were welcoming guests in the corridors. also, last day of my stay i struggled to use the freeWifi in my room but not sure if its my iphone, hotel Wifi or something else. i didnt call for help given the mentioned language challenge and it will take time to explain my simple issue

Great location for sightseeing around Shanghai. The staff at the Ritz went above and beyond to ensure that we had an amazing stay, with particular attention paid to our memo regarding my parents' wedding anniversary. They left ballons, cake and a note to wish them a Happy anniversary. Friendly and attentive staff who will do anything to help ensure your needs are met!

Honestly no complaints about our stay!

The staff member made me feel very confortable during my stay, i had a shower problem, they sent right away the plumber and he said to the room service to clean up the water stain after. At the end of day, I received a very gentil card from the duty manager with his apologies + a bottle of champagne in my room. It was a nice surprise

The free wifi is not as fast as I imagined, and i didn’t see the paid wifi options…

there was a day when the bathtub did not look like cleaned with some stains left, which looked like blood. after sharing this next day they made sure it was clean.

Breakfast on the go is a brilliant idea and it served the purpose flawlessly; on the other hand, the full breakfast on-site is spectacular with an enormous variety & delicious choices from all over the world. The room is always tidy and clean.

Room humidity is a bit low...an optional humidifier would probably be handy.

the property is very well located, just outside the hotel you have a plaza full of restaurantes and cafes with different options. the staff is super nice.
