great location, excellent vibe, bar at night, coffee for breakfast.

the elevator situation is awful. I've stayed here multiple times and the elevators are always broken. also, the proximity to the fire station is suboptimal.

Ate breakfast outside- so many great places. Hotel is lovely, great vibe and location - perfect base for staying in Manhattan.

The hotel advertised a rooftop terrace and a pool- neither available. Only two coffee pods in the room- that could certainly have been more generous. Much plastic packaging for the meager tea and coffee- not really appetizing or environmentally friendly. Also, the USB port in the room did not work.

The ArtHouse Hotel is in a great location, near subway stations and on major city bus routes. There are many restaurants and shops nearby (including Zabar's deli & bakery, fabulous!). The room was reasonably quiet and everything in the room worked fine. I chose this hotel because I wanted to be within walking distance of the NY Historical Society and Central Park, and it was a nice walk (or bus ride) over to the East Side to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other museums there. It's also on a frequently-serviced bus line from midtown, so I was happy to take the Broadway bus rather than the subway to visit Rockefeller Center. The hotel's lobby was always full of people enjoying the vibe, with some live music in the evenings. There's a bakery/coffee kiosk in the lobby, too.

I paid a bit extra for upgrading to a room with a city view, and while the room was ok, the window looking out onto Broadway was small. I'm not sure it was worth the extra charge, but I was satisfied with the accommodations.

The entry way and the cafe/music was wonderful. After a red eye flight it was great to be able to come to the hotel and wait until check in. The bed was comfy.

In the room, you could hear everything that happened in the hallway. It sounded like someone was in the room. Besides the bed, the rest of the room felt pretty cheaply made. Not very solid feeling. The bathroom didn’t have any hand soap and the conditioner/shampoo/bath wash was cheap and drying. It seemed like a lot of effort went into design but not into quality. I love the hotel. I don’t know if it was just the room. Would be curious the answer…

The room and the hotel were great!

Staff not friendly. We were asked to pay USD 500 as a deposit for the room - which is something I have never seen in any hotel, and normally a deposit is not credited on the card - but it was the case this time. When asked the staff, they wouldn't explain nor justify this payment. Also, at the end of the trip, we were asked to pay one extra room - a mistake, we guess, from their accounting team, which seems to have been reimbursed. Definitely it didn't feel safe money-wise, so I will not be staying at this hotel any time soon.

Room was clean and comfortable. You control your thermostat and it regulates the temperature perfectly. Lovely pastries and coffee on the main floor for a reasonable price; nice area to enjoy your companions. Staff were friendly and handled any issues competently. Subway was close and convenient.

The first night the room smelt of smoke. It also had only hot water. The view was of a dirty roof. Staff indicated that a new room would be available the next day. They moved our bags and had new keys waiting for us when we returned back from our activities. Two elevators were out of use and the stairs did not go down to the lobby.

Great location on Broadway. The room was well lit with plenty of outlets for technology and a comfortable bed. Great shower. I loved the fact that the bed had a sheet and a duvet so I could add or throw off layers as needed. I don't like it when hotels only provide a duvet which can be too warm.

No soap at the bathroom sink. I had to open the shower to get soap from the pump bottle inside. I know most hotels use pump bottles now instead of bars of soap, but I don't like them. They are usually too high and require both hands to get soap out.

The design of the building was really cool and industrial. We loved having a bar in the lobby and places to sit and unwind after a long day. We were able to check in early for a very reasonable fee (which was very much appreciated!). The rooms were clean and had a nice design to them. It is also right off the 1 subway line, which is really convenient to get around the city. The neighborhood is lovely but not too crowded, it really made us fall in love with the Upper West Side.

The building is on the older side, so one of the elevators was out of service for most of our stay, which was a minor delay to coming and going.

American Museum of National History is almost around the corner, and all the other great museums are just a short walk away, a beautiful walk across Central Park. A stylish sitting/ reading area with many interesting art books. Live music in the evening adds plenty of ambience (not sure it's every day, but we had it each evening of our two night stay).

Nothing really to complain about. A small and narrow lobby sharing the reception, bar, breakfast stand and sitting area. As a result, you will have people with large suitcases often stuck between people who, at the same time, eat or drink or read or listen to the music. Not real breakfast, just a stand with coffee and cakes.

The hotel is new and stylish. It had a lovely coffee shop / bakery in the foyer. The rooms were a good size for NY. Our room had 2 big comfy double beds and the front desk staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful each time we went to them.

The lighting in the room was hard to figure out. The lights were on a timer which is great for saving energy but a little annoying when they suddenly turned off. Also our room overlooked 77th street diagonally opposite a fire station… we heard the fire trucks leaving a few times. I’d suggest requesting a different room next time. A mini fridge would have been useful.
