Hotel Central is on the main thoroughfare of Avignon and very convenient for all of the main attractions. We appreciated the location. Our room was small, but the facilities were suitable for our needs. We were comfortable enough. Breakfast was good, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. We parked our car in a free parking lot outside of the city walls and used the frequent shuttle to reach the hotel, which worked out very well.

The hotel is old and the rooms are not particularly modern. Generally they are adequate. We had a small room on the ground floor, which was a bit below ground. I would recommend getting a room on a higher floor.

For the price, this small independent hotel punches above its weight. Our room, on the roof, was small and perfectly well equipped. With the terrace outside our door, we were able to end our sightseeing days with a drink, relaxing in the calm ambiance before retiring to bed. The bed's mattress was perfect for us. The breakfast offering, which initially looked sparse, was replenished frequently and so was very good. Just a shame the hot drinks were from a vending machine. Overall, the hotel, despite being on a main street, was very quiet and I'd urge residents to take advantage of buying a drink in the ground floor bar and taking to the roof terrace.

We arrived very early and asked to drop off bags. My wife is pregnant and the chap on reception noticed this and made efforts to get our room ready as early as possible. I'm not totally sure but I have a feeling he upgraded our room to a lovely room looking out onto the roof garden. It was superb. We also extended our booking by 1 day on arrival which was simple and stress free. The booking took place during a 40 degree heatwave and the air con unit coped magnificently.

The hotel doesn't look great from the outside. The shabby, closed down bakery next door really lets it down. However, once inside it is peaceful and tranquil and the rooftop bar is a lovely touch.

Location was ideal- very central. Roof top bar very pleasant cooler oasis.

Breakfast was disappointing. We were by no means the last but the juice machine was not working and there were no croissants left and the staff member had to be asked by several people to provide more bread which she did somewhat unwillingly. She did not add to the other breakfast items eg cheese for some time and people were clearly disappointed in the meagre amount available. She gave the impression that she wished to be elsewhere. We were allocated a disabled room although this was not requested or needed. It was very spacious but the wet room style shower left the bathroom floor very wet throughout so it was necessary to hold up trouser bottoms when entering so as not to wet them.

My wife and I were very pleased with our four-night stay at the Hôtel Central in Avignon. We had booked a deluxe room, and it was indeed very comfortable and attractive. The room could be reached by lift/elevator, and it was warm even in January. Rooms were nicely serviced every day except Sunday. The reception is open around the clock. We liked the hotel's cheerful small internal courtyard and the friendly style of the staff. . We particularly liked the breakfast: quality foodstuffs, nicely presented in an attractive breakfast room. The buffet and the room looked fresh and inviting throughout the breakfast period. For us the location of the hotel was excellent: it is not far from the Gare (railway station) and it is "centrally located with respect to palaces, churches, museums and other sights.

I would like to point out that the Rue de la République certainly lacks the charm of other parts of Avignon. However, more charming areas are only a few minutes away on foot. And if the Rue de la République lacks charm, it does offer a wide range of shops and services.

Super helpful staff who spoke Spanish, which was a major plus for us. The courtyard is very pretty and a nice place to sit if you have to wait for someone. The location is fantastic--central but still with access to a road with cars so you can arrive by taxi if needed, but the hotel itself has quiet rooms, so no problem sleeping. The AC worked great and the room was clean. There is a nice roof terrace, although we didn't end up using it. The building is locked at night and only accessible with the hotel key, which adds a nice degree of security when you're literally in the middle of the tourist area.

Unless you get the very nicest rooms, the building is not accessible for people with mobility issues, as it has multiple, tight staircases (although there is at least illumination and a railing). The elevator does not serve the majority of the rooms in the hotel. Most of the rooms are very, very small and some choices about space distribution (ex. The bathroom door opens directly into the bed, a dresser blocks the path around the bed) make the room hard to navigate. Understandable for the price/location, and if you are a solo traveler, it will be fine. However, couples will probably want to upgrade to one of the superior or premium rooms (we're used to NYC apartments and we wished we had), so keep that in mind when price comparing.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. The fridge in our room was defective and was replaced by a another unit within an hour. The hotel is situated a few hundred meters from the central trail station on a main street, so it is easy to reach by foot. Despite the central location our room was very quiet.

The cheese offering for breakfast was disappointing in the land of 365 different kinds of cheese. Otherwise the breakfast was fine.

The lower-priced rooms were very small but we upgraded to a large comfortable room. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is close to all the major attractions in Avignon. The open-air lobby and rooftop lounge were extremely pleasant areas to relax in.

The hotel bar has loud music until around 10:30 PM. Although I enjoyed the music and couldn't hear it in my room, I observed two different people complaining to the desk they couldn't sleep because of the music. Staff reacted quickly and lowered the volume. Although the hotel is central to everything, the immediate area around the hotel is a gathering area for shady characters and is not at all charming. We occasionally had trouble making ourselves understood in English with some staff members.

This hotel is near the train station so the walk wasn't bad, which was appreciated on a warm summer day. My room was truly exceptional: the bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows, the bathroom was huge, as was the shower, and the lift was convenient. The breakfast was good, and the hotel was near good restaurants and most of the sights in Avignon.

I have no negative things to say about this hotel experience.

We had a nice room not too big, but good enough for two nights. The hotel is very good positioned, only a few minutes walking to the the town center. The staff was very friendly and we booked a parking space in the house, very convinient.

The checkin 16:30 is too late. Most Restaurants close after two, it was raining and we had no where to go. The toillet was a bid smelly (no window), an air-freshner would have done the job.
