Lovely quirky guest house, with some really nice features. Stayed in chamber 7 there was plenty of room with 3 double beds and a small seating area. Facilities were OK TV with lots of channels. Bathroom was a good size and Shower worked OK. The room stayed cool without air con in very warm weather but fans were available. Could see the animal park from the bedroom window which was nice. Great central location within walking distance of the main bars and restaurants. Continental breakfast was available and was good quality products. The hosts were friendly.

The room was great but a 2nd mirror outside of the bathroom would have been useful. An added feature would have been a small fridge in the room to store cold drinks too. But these would be enhancements and don't detract from the stay/building.

The property is very unique. Beautiful high ceilings with enormous doors showcasing the grandeur of the building. The bedrooms were a good size with quirky artefacts. It was lovely seeing the algerian touches - the berber pottery, Idir the great musician and the serving plates at breakfast. Contintental breakfast was good with a standard self-service buffet being set up daily. There was a choice of teas or coffee, fresh orange juice, cheese and meats, spreads, cereals, baguettes and pastry/croissant served at the table. The host was very friendly and accommodating.

We thought it was a little pricey and a little dark for our liking ( personal choice).

Great location with free parking in the street outside. Eclectic decoration with a mix of traditional and modern. Sumptuous colours. Quirky (in a very good way). Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Large room.

Breakfast was nothing special and could do with more variety. The lighting in the attached bathroom seemed very eccentric, with ceiling lights switching on and off seemingly at random. The switch for the light over the basin was very, very stiff. Far better for these lights to be controlled by a switch outside the bathroom.

Very spacious and clean room. It was on the two of us but our “appartement” had three bedrooms. Good breakfast and superb location for the ferry (10 minute car ride through town). Great value for money

Very old and tall building so dragging all our lugage for three week trip up to the top floor for one night was less convenient. Although the breakfast area is huge there is only one table were all the guest sat a little cramped together. A second table would have been easy to do and more comfortable.

Nice place to stay overnight in Calais. Cozy apartments in old style french building. You can park your car for free near the hotel if there are spaces available (this is free parking zone in Calais). Breakfast is OK, you can get coffee, boiled eggs (standard in Normandy :) ), juice, cheese, ham, bread, croissants.

It will be good to have small fridge in the apartment :)

A classic French townhouse, well adapted as a Maison d'Hotes. Large rooms, tastefully furnished. My bathroom, with its walk-in shower and movement-activated lighting, was like a 21st century time capsule in the 19th century bedroom. Friendly welcome, comfortable bed, decent breakfast, encrypted Wi-Fi. 5-10 mins from Calais Ville train station and its adjacent bus station.

Not all bathroom activities involve movement, so the strip light above the wash hand basin was an essential back-up when the main light went off! As advertised, there's no lift but my suitcase was kindly carried upstairs for me.

The pillows were past their sell by date and the bed linen was also very synthetic and tired. The breakfast was adequate but I would have liked some fresh fruit and yogurt on offer. I would have liked a dressing table in the bedroom too.

I liked the property itself- it was eclectic and our room was spacious. Plus there is a large gathering area downstairs- which we didn't use much but it was a nice place to be. The host was friendly and greeted us at the door and in the morning at breakfast. Breakfast was also included, which was a bonus. The location in the city was also nice.

The beds were not very comfortable and it was a little on the pricey side. However, we booked last minute and they could accommodate a family of four so maybe better when booked ahead. Breakfast was ok but could have used more options or at least a coffee/cappucino machine as self serve.

Our room was spacious,with a comfortable bed and a very welcoming and gracious host, and felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The continental breakfast was delicious with a selection of cereals, pain au chocolate, croissants, fresh bread, butter, meats, and cheeses. There was a selection of different teas, and if you wanted coffee, we asked the host, and he ground the coffee fresh and brought you the cup of coffee to your table. The bathroom was beautiful, and the shower was hot and powerful. We were close to the town centre and all amenities. Would highly recommend staying here above big named hotels.

The location is in central Calais. The Hotel de Ville and a park are close, as is a pleasant restaurant. We were able to park in the street overnight, within 30 yards of the building. The road is quiet. The facilities in Azal are great: lovely public rooms (great decor), nice ensuite bedroom, agreeable and helpful people. (Noisy seagulls!). A good stay all round. We would certainly return.
