This is a great budget hotel in which to base yourself in Carcassonne. As others say, it's a fair distance from the central city and train station if you don't have a vehicle (like me), but the walk is not difficult nor is the road very busy or dangerous. Staff here are lovely, the room I had was comfortable and I enjoyed the breakfast selection in the morning. It's also an easy walk to the main entrance of the medieval town (Porte Narbonnaise), and you don't need to do a strenuous uphill walk as you would if walking from the city side. Highly recommended.

Everything was great

The staff were so good. They literally could not do enough for you. This hotel represents excellent value for money and is only a short distance from the medieval city. A great option for those with their feet under them but do take note, it is difficult to get a taxi to take you the short trip from the attractions to this hotel. We had a family member with us who has mobility issues and this was as an issue from us. Once you are in the hotel, the staff can wrangle a taxi for you and do so with pleasure.

Only thing I could possibly say is I would have liked another pillow but having already asked the staff for an extra towel and a hair dryer I felt too bad to go out and ask them for anything else.

The staff was amazing, quickly checked us in, and provided information for everything in town. The room was extremely clean and modern, everything was perfect. There is air conditioning in the room, but on really hot days it may not be enough. The breakfast was buffet style typical European style. Cold cuts, cheese, bread, fruits, cereal, etc. with juice and coffee machines. Parking is easy, spaces are free. It is a 15 minute walk from the castle or you can opt to drive to closer paid parking lots. There is a great viewing point 5 minutes driving near some vineyards or at a stop along the toll highway. There are not many options for food within 5 minutes walking, but there are plenty in the castle.

Just like any budget Hotel, the rooms are a bit smaller and there is no fridge. The breakfast has limited options, but for the price was excellent.

The staff was very nice and accommodating, ( we asked for 2 rooms nearby when we booked, they put it in the notes and we got the rooms upon arrival) great communication -very fast responses to messages. Room is small, but had everything needed for a good rest. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Breakfast was OK

The location - the suburbs of the city, everything around looked abandoned, and not safe. Although the walk to the old city was only 20-25 minutes we've started, got uncomfortable and went back to take a car.

Breakfast was good. Nice food.

Decor in the room was a bit grim. If you were suicidal, this could tip you over the edge. The entrance to the room is very dark grey, then two orange walls and two grey walls. Also, the only electric socket that worked was at the head of the bunk bed. I had to climb up there and I am 65 and a bit big to climb onto the bed from the ladder.

We chose Ibis because we know international standard of the service and we needed a hotel with secure parking close to the old city. Nice bakery nearby. Beds were comfortable and not too soft. Wifi working fine. I was happy to have manually adjustable heating since it was pretty cold outside. As usual, good quality for reasonable money, simple comfortable and efficient.

In the bathroom the way the shower is constructed as soon as you raise the shower cap a bit higher you get a pool of water next to the shower entrance.

The whole experience was great from the initial arrival. The rooms were clean, and the showers were amazing. The food is obviously continental. There was plenty of food and choice .

The place where you get breakfast is small and a bit of a squeeze , and so is the seating area. If it's not busy it's fine, but if it's busy it's a different story.

It was clean and simple. Very basic, only 15 minute walk to the Medieval City. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate Continental breakfast.

There’s a short distance of walking on the road to get to a footpath that you need to be mindful of. Ask for a hairdryer in reception BEFORE your shower.

Reception was a warm welcome and very efficient. Room was very clean and good quality bed, linen and towels. Shower was great and bathroom spacious. Air con was superb. Good TV and lift were very useful. Secure car park at rear of building was an excellent feature. Indeed the security of the building was good. Breakfast was handy and the staff present were very helpful and friendly. It took me 15 minutes to walk to the Citadel from the hotel so location was fine for us. Exceptional value for the location.

Met by a friendly and helpful receptionist who spoke good English. No problem checking in and the room was clean and looked like it had been recently refurbished, a little compact but adequate. Not much around hotel but only a 30 minute walk to centre or a short drive. Breakfast was good value for 7 euros with as much as you can eat and again a friendly member of staff on duty.
