This is a unique property worth a stay in Narbonne. It is a labour of love by Senor Maritn, who has been converting this old convent and church for several decades. He has done an incredible job and the furnishings and details are amazing. The location is perfect and the the secure private parking was convenient. A lot of helpful and interesting information about Narbonne, nearby attractions and restaurants was provided, which we appreciated. We enjoyed seeing the work being done on the church conversion and being able to go up to the bell tower and see some lovely views of Narbonne. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We were really glad we stayed there and would love to see the finished product.

It was the last stay of our journey and we didn’t have data connection… I had forgotten if it was a whole apartment or what I had booked. Anyway, I knew it wasn’t a hotel and that we didn’t have food provided, so we went to a supermarket and bought an already meal (it needed heating). When we got to the room, we realized that we didn’t have a microwave, although there is a fridge. So the owner (I’m so sorry I forgot his name), kindly heated our ready meals in his own home and lend us some cutlery. We couldn’t be more appreciated. Moreover, we got there a bit later than planned as we were driving from up north and you never know. He let the instructions perfectly written for us to follow and we were able to park our car and go straight to our room.

I’m sb who needs to go a lot to the bathroom at night… it was quite difficult to find the switch to the light (actually, I didn’t hehehe). But this is not a biggie :). The room is nice and well equipped. In booking it is advertised as a single thing, but apparently, there are other bigger apartments in the place… that’s what mislead me a bit.

Breakfast was not. Our host mentioned a bakery that would offer a discount but I could not remember the name or location. We chose one which looked promising, It was ok. They did not acknowledge the reference to the inn though they may have provided a discount. I didn’t look.

Dust and noise in the areas under remodel bad for lungs. A little awkward to find for Google Maps and ourselves.

Chambre du Couvent is a former convent, conveniently located for walking in the central city, that is being restored. Our room was clean, spacious, quiet and satisfactory in every way. We were met by a very nice lady who, though speaking little English, made herself understood concerning our room, access to the hotel, and use of the secure gate for the stable/parking area. From the room, you would never have known that restoration is under way in the larger parts of the convent. Appropriately, covered parking was provided in the (former) stable nearby, with secure access. A good elevator provided access to the room from the registration desk. We were allowed to explore the rest of the facility which, though in renovation, was fascinating. This place will be marvelous, and we were delighted to see (and support) the process under way. The "luxury" rooms appear very promising. There is a tower, which offers nice panoramic views (see photo). I expect that the main hall will be spectacular when completed. Cost of the room was modest, given the quality, and the historic experience is a freebie. It is an easy walk across the canal to he Hotel du Ville, which is not a hotel, but the impressive City Hall. I wish we'd had time to see more, but a few hours walking Narbonne was a delight.

Knowing there's a restoration in process, I will not complain about the renovation, which did us no harm. I will note that while we encountered no problems in walking to and around the town center (people were friendly and welcoming), it was hard not to notice three parked cars in a row with all tires flattened. That may add special value to the secure indoor parking offered by the Couvent. The entrance is off a small street/large alley, and is not conspicuous. Neither is the discreet sign at the front.

Lovely, interesting place to stay. You can walk to the top of the tower. Beautiful building and great central location. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice. Good value.

Nothing negative. I was slightly confused upon arrival because there’s no reception as such, you ring the bell on a residential door.

it was in a great location, in a beautiful old couvent ( which is being renovated by owner) . staff were very helpful and full of information about the history of the building. clean and very quiet. another bonus was the use of a free parking space. there is also a roof terrace, accessed by the old tower with wonderful views over Narbonne

Chambre du couvent is an exceptional property...the room was perfect for two people...plenty of storage space in the armoire...from the refrigerator to the coffee machine to the great salle de bain...it was a joy to 'accidentally' discover this lodging. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and given a tour of the 'under restoration' part of the old building. Our host was a cheery and informative delight. We will try to stay here in any further trips to Narbonne.

Given this property is being renovated I felt the quality of the finishes and the decor were fantastic. I loved the location.
