We found this place by accident a couple of years ago when we were in need of last minute accommodations.We have been back several times since then. It has become our go-to for these reasons: (1) Location - The hotel is in a neighborhood that doesn't feel 'touristy.' It is tucked away just off the beautiful tree-lined street. There's a fantastic cafe right in front of the main door. and plenty of excellent restaurants just down the hill. This area is quiet at night. (2) Transportation - It's just a short walk to the Lamarck stop on the #12 metro line. Just up the hill from Abbesses. The #80 bus stops at the front door. Plenty of transportation options to get you to the museums and sights of Paris. (3) Staff - We have seen many of the same faces over the past few years. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. The rooms and common areas are very clean. (4) Breakfast - We don't always take advantage of this option, but sometimes it's nice to start the morning with a coffee and croissant in the breakfast room. They also offer cold cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice and a variety of teas. (5) Budget friendly - This is primarily a hostel, so there are plenty of budget friendly options for solo travelers. We opt to book one of the private rooms with a private bath. The furnishings are minimal, the beds are comfy and the bathroom shower has both handheld and overhead sprayers. The rooms have hard surface floors (which feel so much cleaner than carpet). We tend to travel light, and we appreciate having a clean and comfortable space to relax.

There aren't many negatives with this place. If you're not ok with climbing stairs, then be aware there's no elevator. This can be difficult if you're traveling with large bags. Our room was on the top (4th) floor. A few more towel hooks in the bathroom would be appreciated by travelers.

This hotel/hostel is near the metro station, a supermarket, a lovely restaurant and a few blocks away from the Sacre-Coeur and Place du Tertre. Good location! My stay was lovely; my room was spacious and had a view on typical Montmartre stairs. The staff was very helpfull, especially when I lost my contact lens in the sink, they helped me find him :) It was my first time in Paris and my first time as a solo traveller and it could not have been any better. If you would like to go to Paris, I strongly recommend Montmartre and especially this accomodation!

The bed was not really clean, the breakfast was simple and everyday the same.

The hotel is very nice located - close to metro, supermarkets and lots of adorable restaurants. I stayed in a single room. Even though it is indeed quite small, it was absolutely sufficient and very clean. View to the courtyard, which is super quiet, you could even sleep with windows open.

I suggest not to book breakfast. Even though it is sufficient, it is quite simple and limited. Rather discover one of the small cafes in the surroundings and embrace different breakfast options Paris has to offer.

Great location off a lovely street full of brasseries, (one photogenic one with a happy hour right next door) boulangeries etc. Near metro. Great decor. Quirky and bohemian. Breakfast in a lovely room with all basics covered. Room slightly no frills but that didn't bother us as it was spacious and had a pleasant spacious bathroom too. Pretty unusual for a semi budget Paris hotel these days. As were very nice staff and general decor and presentation. All in all had low expectations of a "hostel" and feared the worst of a noisy place and small room but it was fantastic and quiet too and it was such a nice surprise. Also there are facilities should you want to cook eat in the kitchen area which would help if you are a budget.

Nothing it was all great

The bed was comfortable, the staff was really nice and I appreciated the fact that we could check in right when we arrived, even though on the website it said chack in after 4. The place was clean and it was really quiet, a fact that surprised me considering the fact that it is a hostel.

However, the room was really small, with no closet to put your clothes in. I also expected to receive a bit more shower gel, considering the fact that i slept for 3 nights there. Also, the bathroom in the room was the smallest bathroom with a shower I've ever seen. It is not a problem for me, I am not pretentious when it comes to any place to stay. This hostel was more than good for me, but maybe certain people would prefer bigger rooms with bigger bathrooms.

I greatly appreciated that the lady receptionist allowed us to check in earlier (since the room was already ready). I was with my mom who's a senior, and we came from a 16-hr flight, so that made me so happy. The location is perfect--in the beautiful Montmarte, very near a train station, with nice restaurants and grocery stores nearby. They offer breakfast, which is great. Kitchen is very spacious and can also be accessed til around midnight so you can also bring your own food during other times of the day. Room's a bit small--but manageable. :)

Perfect location. Soap and shampoo came in the room, as well as fresh towels and an extra warm blanket. There's also a safe lock box inside the room if needed. We didn't realize someone would come clean the room and provide fresh towels as well as emtpy the bin, so that was a nice surprise. We left our passports, money and expensive cameras out not realizing cleaners would come, and we felt our items were safe and left untouched. Wifi was okay, but never disconnected. There are brasseries and food located everywhere within 2 seconds of walking. Metro is also super close by. Excellent if on a budget, and just need a simple room.

if you are a large/tall person you may have difficulty in the small shower.

Caulaincourt Montmartre by Hiphophostels has a hotel feel to it because it is both a hotel and a hostel (and I don't think this subtracts anything from the hotel side of the establishment). It is situated in a very charming area. There is a popular cafe and dreamy bakery / street cafe in the pedestrian-only street below, and a well-priced and stocked supermarket just across the road, within 1 min walk. The metro is a very pleasant walk, less than 10 min away. I loved the included breakfast: fresh croissant, bun, toasts, coffee, orange juice, and a good selection of serials. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a room that had only 3 beds and its own shower and basin, with toilet in hall. This was a very good choice.

At first the toilet did not have soap, but this was immediately remedied when I pointed it out to the staff. As with most Paris accommodation, there are no elevators, but two flights of stairs was no issue for me.

The location was excellent. Walking distance to Sacre Coeur and the Moulin Rouge. Metro stration, bus stops, restaurants, convenience stores and a lovely bakery at the corner are all an advantage.

I thought it'd be okay not having a toilet in the room but it wasn't. It's okay because I was told that before booking.Think twice about it. The man at the reception at nights could be as nice as the girls in day shifts. The wallpaper in the room was dirty. So were the corners of the floor. The cleaners aren't very attentive to detail. The bathroom in the room had mould all over the grout. The faucet and plughole in the sink needed a deep clean. So does the soap dish in the shower.

The place is gorgeous, and looks down on a lovely Montmartre scene of cobbles, steps and a lively cafe. The location is absolutely perfect. My room was simple and elegant, with a very comfortable bed, enough convenient storage space, and a brand-new electric fan for the heat. The sounds from the street and cafe are pleasant, it is quiet later at night, and the windows are soundproof when closed.

Reception staff are the least service-oriented I have ever seen. The default answer to anything seems to be No. Bathroom light stays on all the time for some reason. Of course I asked the staff if they could do something about it and they said No. Note that there is no lift and it's 5 floors including the breakfast room. I think it does say so on the website but it's worth emphasizing.
