The location was excellent, tucked away in a beautiful tranquil rural setting, but only 5 minutes or so to good road links and a large supermarket. The continental breakfast was always fresh, with plenty of of tea and coffee available. It was a little limited (bit too many bread type produce) but it was more than satisfying. Eric (the host) was very helpful and charming, a mine of information, knowledgeable about where to go and things to do. Bit disappointed there wasn’t tea and coffee in the room, it was available in the lounge, but it was a long way down the stairs to get it and not always any milk. The hosts have worked incredibly hard since purchasing the property, 20 years ago, to turn it into the beautiful place it is today. As other people have mentioned it is a bit tired (decor wise) but it didn’t detract from our stay. The weather was particularly good and we sat on the terrace most evenings to enjoy the late sun. There is a tv lounge ( you don’t have one in your room) and a bar area with a fridge at your disposal, also good WiFi. There isn’t aircon, but the windows are big and open fully, as it’s so quiet we just left them open all the time. Might not want to do that if you have a small child though. Beautiful place, would go again.
It would have been nice to have tea and coffee in the room. Might not be a good place to stay if you struggle with stairs. Also this is not a reflection on the hotel, just general information for visitors, eating out can be difficult. As most shops shut around 12ish and don’t open till 2.30. Restaurants are open then, but stop serving around 1.30, most are only open for a short period from 5ish to 7.30 so we struggled to get an evening meal some days. Because it is very much rural France, some French is necessary otherwise you will struggle to make yourself understood.

We stayed at Manoir de Savigny for one night, on our way to catch the ferry from Cherbourg. We wished we had booked for longer. It's a beautiful house in gorgeous, huge gardens. We and our two children stayed in the family suite and we all loved it. The beds were extremely comfortable. The location is great - in the peace of the countryside, but just a few minutes drive into the centre of Valognes, which is a lovely town. We had a very good meal at the creperie there. The Manoir is also about half an hour's drive from the Utah Beach museum, which is excellent and definitely worth a visit. Eric was very helpful when we checked in, and made us a good breakfast. We were all happy with our stay and would absolutely recommend the Manoir to anyone travelling through Normandy.

Beautiful property in very attractive rural location. Very relaxed atmosphere, with unobtrusive friendly service. Good communication before arrival. Eric had information on local restaurants to share, but we had already eaten before arrival. The Manoir de Savigny was a very convenient overnight stop for us after a ferry to Portsmouth, but we will stay longer in the area next time.
Breakfast could have been a bit more exciting - perhaps some fresh fruit?

Manoir de Savigny is an exceptional facility. Eric was an outstanding host who took time to explain the history of his house, which was fascinating. Out check-in, stay, and the breakfast made the experience unforgettable and most enjoyable. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here.
Bed pillows were flat, but the beds were very comfortable aside from that.

The bedroom was absolutely perfect. The entire property was quite glorious. We only say the entrance, bedroom and salon but always furnished to a very high standard. Amazing and diverse, very interesting. Breakfast was in the most stunning setting, just the right amount for our onward journey

The setting of this French Manor house was sublime, tucked away down a lane about 2 miles out of Valognes.Surtounded by mature gardens and a lake, where Agapanthus and Echium thrive, we could walk all around the property. Arnaud the owner is happy to explain the history of the house. Bedrooms are beautifully designed, There is an honesty bar, and breakfast is excellent. A perfect one night stop for ferry at Cherbourg, but really guests should stay longer to appreciate the peace there.
Not a problem for us but less mobile might find the stone circular steps up to the bedroom .a problem.Ask for first floor if possible.

The Manoir and the grounds are stunning, so beautiful and well kept. So peaceful and relaxing. The owner Eric is so so friendly and welcoming. Full of great advice and recommendations from where to eat, to where to visit. A gentleman!
Breakfast was fab but only served from 8.30 to 9.30 now so just be aware of the new breakfast times when booking.

Beautiful old manor house. Very friendly owner. Comfotable, warm and tastefully decorated rooms.
Breakfast was bit poor, but we were there off season, maybe thats why there was not much selection. There was no tv in the room.

Breakfast was superb, fresh eggs, bread, coissants and a wide range of extras. The surrounding garden was outstanding, beautifully kept with some mature and very attractive specimen plants and trees; one can truly relax at the Manoir. Our room was spacious and had everything one could wish for, the lack of a television being a particular bonus for us! The proximity to Valognes is an additional advantage for easy shopping and restaurants.
It was all great!

The property was very quiet, the facilities were most adequate and the host was very welcoming . Although the property was down a small country lane it was very easy to find if using sat nav or the written instructions. Bed was very confortable and everything was very clean. Ideal place to stop for one or more nights and get to know the interesting area.
Nothing except having to stop only one night and perhaps climbing stone stairs, but what do you expect in a genuine old Manor House.
