Hotel Alpenstuben

The view was absolutely amazing (despite a tree needing a slight trim 🤣). We stayed in one of the romantic rooms that had a special view of the castle and mountain ranges. We were only there for one night but we enjoyed sitting on the balcony and taking in the view. The room was a decent size and was nice and clean. The hotel staff were very responsive when we booked and they were able to help us with securing a room upgrade. We dined in the beer garden and at the restaurant - the food was delicious as was the Hugo Spritz. We enjoyed the opportunity to walk around the town once the majority of tourists had headed off- if only we could've stayed for a few more days. If you are looking for a romantic getaway with a loved one we would highly recommend

The one tip we would advise is around ensuring you book your tickets to the castles ahead of time, as despite the ticket office being extremely close to the hotel they sell out very quickly and you do not want to miss out on your chance to visit the castles.

The hotel is nice and has everything you need right there such as restaurant, snack bar, souvenir shop and it’s right next door to the ticket centre for the castles. Staff were friendly and the food at the restaurant was great.

We had a lot of luggage as we are on an extended trip but we were offered no assistance with it so I had to make 3 trips up and down 2 flights of stairs to get all of my families luggage up to the room. A little help would have gone a long way. Breakfast goes until 10:00 but they don’t seem to put anything fresh out after 9:00 so if you want fresh eggs and sausages etc you need to be down there by 08:30 atleast.

Very nice hotel and rooms. The location is great, right near the ticket center for the castle. The hotel has a very large terrace to enjoy a cold beer, an indoor restaurant and a souvenir shop. The room has a big and confortable bed, a closet, tv and a very nice balcony with chairs and table to admire the beautiful surroundings. Parking available for guests.

Although the breakfast is very rich and varied, I tasted a creamy cheese with some spices and I felt bad for two days. I cannot firmly say that it is because of the quality of the cheese, but I felt a strange taste while eating and I'm quite sure it was the cause of my illness.

Nice and comfortable setting, newly renovated facilities, friendly staff members(professional services. A male staff at check-in was really nice.) and super clean room! Also castle view was plus!! Restaurant foods were amazing!!! This was the very first time we ever ate great German foods. (Luca was our server. I wish I remember everybody’s name but ladies at breakfast time were also nice and helpful.) Thank you all of staff members at Alpenstuben. I will come back if I have a chance again!

It ended up no problem throughout night while sleeping, but heater took a while to heat up room.

Unbelievable little hotel, unbelievable location, unbelievable price. We got the last room available online and were upgraded when we arrived. The room was so charming and large with multiple windows. View of the castle. Very clean and comfortable. Very romantic setting. Restaurant was so delicious and the manager on duty was very kind and friendly, giving great information and advice for our stay. Parking was right across the street and very inexpensive. Can't believe we got a room here!

Absolutely nothing. I can't wait to return someday.

We arrived at the hotel via Uber from Munich Main Station. The traffic was a little congested and it was raining. We got confused when we entered because it's a restaurant. We only realised the reception is at the restaurant/ hotel itself when the lady greeted us with a huge warm smile 😃 We immediately sat down for dinner after receiving our room key. The room I booked is spacious and comfortable for 3 adults. Breakfast is included, and the spread is pretty good, too! The hotel could register and issue you a print to take the buses to Fussen if you wished. We took the horse carriage up to the Neuschwanstein Castle, and it was €8 per person, coming down only €4. My husband left his spare phone behind when we checked out. He only realised it after we reached Munich. We contacted the hotel, and Joanna said the housekeeping team found it, and she helped to courier it to our hotel in Munich (we paid the courier fee, of course), and we received it the next day. 😀

No lift, luckily our room is only one level up. So we didn't break our back carrying our luggage up. We are international travellers, so we packed for 2+ weeks' necessities. Hence, our luggage is heavy. The door needs to be locked with the key, meaning even if you are in the room, you need the key to lock it as well. Otherwise, the door is unlocked, and ppl can open and come in. We slept with door unlocked on 1st night, LOL 😆

We stayed for two nights, and this place was just SO cute! Exceptional location for sightseeing the two castles and the Alpsee lake, with stunning surrounds of the little town, Bavarian houses and mountains in the background. The staff were really nice, especially considering we had issues with our rental car and our expected 4pm check in turned into 7pm! We rang them to let them know of course, but they were so friendly and also booked us into the connected restaurant with no issues at short notice for dinner. Breakfast is tasty with lots of options and super easy considering there are minimal alternatives around and then you are free to walk literally next door to the tourist centre to buy tickets to the castles or nearby museum 5 minutes walk up the road (if you hadn't booked online already). Our little room at the top had a balcony view of the Neuschwanstein castle and it was just so picturesque and romantic. Nice and quiet at night time for sleeping, also the connected beer garden has a great Alpenstuben spritz (raspberry flavoured) and large portions for dinner. Wish we had booked at least two more nights! Definitely recommend.

If you are Australian like us and therefore have big heavy luggage for a long trip, be aware there are stairs you need to carry your luggage up!

We booked the family room which had 2 double rooms and shower room and separate toilet and balcony. The beds and pillows were comfy. Everything was clean. Great hot and powerful shower and good size shower room. The reception staff were helpful and the breakfast was great continental and also Boiled eggs, scrambled egg and sausages. The alpenstuben is right in the middle of Hohenschwangau, the ticket office for the castles next building along. We had a lovely walk around lake Alpsee takes about 1 1/2hrs and after a trip to neuschwangau castle a lovely afternoon swimming in the lake.

Although clean the toilet was a bit smelly. As visibly clean I assume this was due to the pipework or drains as was cleaned daily.

The buffet breakfast that was included with the room was more than ample to meet anyone's needs. The location for the castles was perfect since it was less than 100 yards from the ticket office, and the starting point for both the carriage or bus rides. And if anyone cared to eat at their restaurant then you are in for treat since everything that my wife and I ate was truly delicious.

That we were treated with snow in the middle of April. Unfortunately this was beyond their control.

Really enjoyed our two night stay. We had a family room - a two-room suite with 5 beds on the top floor with plenty of room. It was located in the eaves so the roof-mounted windows didn’t give east views of the castles (I think many rooms have balconies) but nice and spacious. Reception for the hotel is at a separate desk in the restaurant area and the reception lady was really friendly and helpful. Parking is opposite (8€ / day - you get a voucher to leave in your car). We didn’t have any trouble parking but it was quite busy with only a couple of spaces available. Hohenschwangau is extremely touristy and the hotel is very ‘on-theme’ - we liked it and found the location excellent for visiting the castles (it’s basically in the middle of the two). Fussen is nice and 5 minutes drive but we were pleased to stop where we did for the location. Breakfast was good and everyone friendly and helpful. We did eat in the restaurant one day which was reasonable (quite expensive for what we had). In summary: Location perfect. Parking available. Breakfast very good. Nice big family room. Friendly staff.

Room was v hot and fan didn’t work. Lots of stairs to room (awkward with multiple cases)
