Excellent location, you can actually walk everywhere (if you want) or take the metro which is 2minutes away. Fantastic design and atmosphere form the 1st step into the hotel, the staff extremely helpful and understanding not only to the customer but also of the style the are presenting. Cosy premises. Rightly sized rooms, spotlessly clean, fantastic modern design with art nouveau touches, Fantastic bathroom with great pressure, free coffee capsules, great bedding (seriously though) and the cosy warm feeling of being at home. Log on to your apple TV or Netflix when you want and relax. Breakfast freshly made and seriously excellent coffee. The soundproofing works fine. Definite return for me as I travel to Athens frequently

The hotel is very conveniently located in Kolonaki district with lots of restaurants, cafes and bars around, and also walkable to Syntagma square and Plaka district. Acrapolis although still walkable, in only 5-6 minutes away by taxi. Hotel staff were extremely caring and polite in every respect and they provided excellent service. Breakfast was very good, with fresh and tasty collection of food.

Lack of a closet and drawers are becoming a problem for couples traveling with a luggage bigger than cabin size. Struggling to store your staff with only few dress hangers, and keeping most of your stuff in your luggage is not really suitable for some travelers. If the hotel is not targeting only young travelers or solo business customers, they should find a way to address this issue.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Modernist and would definitely select it again. The property is nicely designed and maintained well with a very nice rooftop deck. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and breakfast was delicious each morning with both hot and cold items. We were two people and had chosen the Large room size and were happy with it. On our first visit, we had a corner room with balconies on two sides. The room was especially bright and airy with all of the windows, including one in the bathroom. On our second visit, we only had one balcony so less natural light, but the room was laid out differently with a large sofa to sit/lounge on that wasn't in the first room, given the window configuration. We especially liked the neighborhood - full of shops and cafes and with easy access to the metro system.

The Modernist is a truly exceptional gem of a boutique hotel. What makes this place so special are the staff. The service at The Modernist is incredible - every single person goes out of their way to make your stay and experience feel special. From thoughtful recommendations to extending our stay at the last minute because of cancelled flights, everything we needed was seamless and achieved with a smile. The rooms are great - we loved the record player with the eclectic record collection and the rooftop terrace is charming with a fabulous view. If you want a place that is stylish, chilled out, friendly and makes you feel at home in a new city, The Modernist should be your choice !

Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Room was excellent with great bathroom and shower. Breakfast was really good quality - you could order omelettes, pancakes etc on top of the tasteful buffet. Also used the gym which was fairly small but had everything you needed. Was very easy to get around the key sites in Athens via the Evangelismos metro station which is about 2 mins walk away - this was also very useful for getting to and from the airport as it’s on the direct line (takes about 40mins and costs €9 a person each way).

Only thing was the soundproofing of the room from the corridor and bathroom. Could just hear activity from corridor/bathroom very clearly and could maybe be improved. Didn’t have any issue with noise from outside the hotel though and worth stressing that the hotel was very quiet overall.

This hotel is amazing. The staff is incredible and so accommodating. Whatever I needed assistance with they were there to help me along the way and make things easier. I needed a rental car they helped me. I needed a transfer and they helped me with that. They have true hospitality here. I felt like I was back in the USA. The breakfast is great and the rooftop is beautiful especially during sunset with the view of the Acropolis and rooftops of Athens. The rooms are beautiful as well. This is the only place I will stay next time I come to Athens.

Great location, great breakfast, great room (i like the interior and especially the Marshall Soundbox) AND really great and friendly staff - no matter if it was at the check-in, the restaurant, the room service / cleaning ... EVERYONE is really nice and friendly! Thanks for the great stay - you are my preferred stay for Athens ... it was not the first time and definitely not the last time!;)

The pillows were a little bit hard for us, but we forget to ask for others...but this is a very individual "problem" :)

I am an architect, so yes, already the name The Modernist caught my eye, but this place truly is a delight to all the senses. The hotel is located in the heart of Kolonaki, with its tree lined streets and hustle and bustle of up market bistros and bars. The hotel itself is a genuine work of art and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. Rooms are sleek and minimalist, with carefully crafted dark interiors that transport you to a place of tranquillity, complemented with bespoke furniture and brass highlights, adding a touch of luxury, which continues in the gorgeous bathroom with stone counter tops and a spacious walk-in shower. One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop terrace, with stunning views of the Acropolis and the city skyline, the perfect place to relax with a drink or enjoy a meal. The home cooked food is inspired and made with love, breakfast is not to be missed and will lift both your legs and spirit from the get-go. But what really sets The Modernist Athens apart is its warm-hearted people. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with anything you may need and make sure that you have a wonderful stay. They’re the family you wished you always had. It’s my favourite place to stay when I’m visiting Athens. I’ve stayed here many times and I can’t wait to come back. The Modernist Athens is a truly special and unforgettable place.

I can't fault anything. The central location, the gorgeous rooms, the stunning views, the delicious food, but most importantly the people, they are just amazing, always helpful, warm-hearted, kind and generous human beings.

Comfortable and laidback base to spend a long weekend in Athens. The room was clean and well laid out, and the rooftop was a lovely place to have a drink or snack. The extra details - such as providing a yoga mat and reusable takeaway coffee cups in each room and having a calendar of activities in the hallway - were great.

Only things I would suggest are a little more fruit at breakfast and possibly some more rails to hang clothes in the rooms but these are very minor points and shouldn’t detract from the very positive review.

The accommodations were very nice, clean, and comfortable. What stood out the most, though, was the TEAM the made our stay so special. The team at the awesome breakfast service was excellent along with the team we didn’t see, but who made all of those delicious selections each morning. Not to be missed. Also, the team at the front desk was always there for you, whether it be a restaurant recommendation, calling a taxi, or just general advice on things to see and do while in Athens.
