Beginning with the check-in experience - the staff were friendly and helpful at every step. They have someone working the front desk 24 hours., as well as someone at the door. The room was gorgeous, every detail was fantastic. Our room included a gorgeous patio with a fountain. Including the breakfast with each room is a great touch because the food is off-the-charts good.

There isn’t much not to like but if I have to pick something, it’s the price point. It’s definitely one of the pricier options in the city and with good reason. The devil is in the details - attentive staff, a delicious menu, and gorgeous rooms immediately let you know the money is well worth it.

We had an outstanding stay at this gorgeous boutique hotel. The architecture and decor were stunning. The staff was attentive and went out of their way to cater to our needs. Arianna helped me organize transport for our next destination (Lake Atitlan) by making a number of phone calls and following through. The room, with a super comfortable bed, a fireplace and our own little private garden was one of the best we have ever stayed in. The breakfast food was delicious and served in a beautiful setting every morning. We shall return.

The building is beautiful and private, the furnishings and feel are very luxurious, and the rooms are large and incredibly comfortable. We had a private jacuzzi which added a real luxury feel to the stay.

The staff were really nice and generally helpful, but a couple of times just needed a bit of extra prompting for things to be done. For example, they were happy to turn the jacuzzi tap on, but didn't explain or come back to turn it off again once the tub was full - and seemed surprised when we rang to ask how to do it ourselves. Water also didn't get refilled without requests.

really nice rooms and comfiest bed. big smart tv so really nice to just chill in the room. breakfast was amazing and breakfast staff really nice. we were also allowed to chill in the hotel after check out while we waited for our transport. lots of nice seating areas around the hotel

didn’t get told much information by the staff on arrival, for example the wifi passcode or where the pool was. also got woken up by staff knocking on our door at 8am even though we were checking out that day and not even sure what they were asking.

Beautiful, peaceful, and elegant place to stay, away from the noisier more touristy parts of Antigua, but within east walking distance of everything. Breakfast was a delight, and our one evening meal there excellent. Great to have the option of dining or just relaxing on the sofas on the roof terrace, and also to have our own private little garden with jacuzzi. The staff were unfailingly helpful with sorting out taxis, restaurant bookings etc. Finally, the bed was the most comfortable bed of our whole trip.

Design and layout of the hotel is beautiful: sort of dark, jungle, bohemian. Each room has a somewhat different design. On-site restaurant is a bit pricey but offers surprisingly good Italian food (as well as other cuisines).

There was some confusion about the type/level of room booked. Granted it was a busy period for the hotel, but staff was not very open to hearing our request to solve the situation and correct the cost for the room.

Check-in time is 3pm but the room was ready at 1pm which was great since I needed to rest after coming back from a long hike. The room was spacious with high ceiling, bathroom was large with everything that you need (incl. robes and slippers). the bed was super comfy and our to-go breakfast was ready on time for our early checkout, vegetarian as requested and it was delicious. Overall, I was really happy with my stay and would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Antigua.

- Ventilation The room has A/C but no fan and there is not any other source of ventilation. I have respiratory allergies which when explained that to them they quickly solved it with a portable fan that works for me. The hotel is perfectly clean and no dust but due to the type or architecture there is not a lot of ventilation so I needed the fan in the room; they have a nice shared living room but with poor ventilation and I could felt the dust in there.

We LOVED our stay at El Convention. The building and facilities are gorgeous and really unique, the ambiance was so peaceful and the staff was amazing. The location was perfect - a few minutes walk anywhere but quiet.

Our one complaint is the beds in the double room (only available room for us to book) were too small for two people to sleep comfortably. I was expecting two queens but I think they were two fulls. My boyfriend is 6 foot and felt the beds were also a bit short.

This little quaint hotel is located in a quiet part of Antigua, yet only a short stroll to most attractions in the city. We felt safe walking around the area. The hotel's public area was well kept, very clean and luxuriously decorated. Also, the staff wearing masks during covid made us feel safe. The mattress in our room was comfy. The jacuzzi in the private garden was amazing. During our stay, I got into a small argument over a minor incident with the hotel reservation personnel. However, things got sorted out in a professional manner.

There was some unpleasant sewer smell coming from the shower drain from time to time. We ordered room service and felt like food quality could be improved.
