The hotel was in a central location...accessed through an arch and down a historic alleyway and so very quiet. We had the wonderful surprise of being allocated a room with a balcony and views! The entrance to the hotel is very welcoming especially the delightful plant covered terrace with views across rooftops to the countryside.

The upside of the hotel that it is quiet and hidden, is also a bit of a downside as the parking is complicated...especially the day when we arrived and the roads were closed. The staff helped us in every way possible.

nice breakfast. great location. staff is professional and very pleasant. hard to find the hotel your first time first time you arrive. i love good 3*** hotels because they are personal and low key. Hotel Umbra meets those expectations. the staff easily dealt with my changing reservation dates. Hotel Umbra is a nice hotel.

the internet was very slow at times. i was trying to do a little work and it could be frustrating. i am not certain if that is just unusual and not the norm.

Everything The location is excellent it is just off of the main square, but it was quiet. Our room had balcony doors with comfortable armchairs just inside so that we could sit in the room and see the beauty of the surrounding countryside and watch the sunsets, and on waking in the morning the view can be appreciated from the bed There are lovely sun terraces and a comfortable inviting courtyard area The breakfast was superb with a very good choice of sweet and savoury, which was constantly being replenished The staff are the most welcoming and helpful that we have found I hope we will return one day not just to Assisi but to this wonderful hotel.

There was nothing to find fault with

Hotel Umbra is such a soulful and original hotel. You walk in to this little wonderful shrine-like garden with plants and flowers, great first impression. It’s interior is eclectic, but in a very good way, romantic and also like being in another time. So many details. I felt like it was a home. It was clean and very welcoming. The staff is fantastic! When I got sick during my stay, I felt true care from the staff. They called me at the hospital and arranged for a taxi to bring me some things, and their hospitality and friendlyness is the most warming memory I have from my stay. I truly recommend it. There is a beautiful view and a nice terrasse. The location is perfect. I am coming back with my family, and willl stay at Hotel Umbria.

The bed was a little hard, but I didn’t mind, really.

Superb traditional family run hotel, right in the centre of Assisi - I mean the main town square is right on your doorstep but the hotel is super quiet because it's tucked away down a little alleyway. The owners were the nicest people and always very helpful with good advice about how to get around (we were on public transport) or the tourist office is 100m away. Room was compact but very comfortable with a sofa for relaxing and a small balcony with views over the rooftops. Best of all, the hotel has a couple of roof terraces and a lovely shaded garden area where you can relax after sightseeing - or even bring your snack lunch. Breakfast was good (included) and varied - served till 10am. All in all, highly recommended

The shower pressure was awful - old plumbing, I guess - and the wifi was a bit flaky, especially in the bedroom.

The location is perfect, right off the main square. The room was a nice size and the view was great. Beautiful courtyard that overlooks the valley. The front desk was especially helpful to us, going above and beyond trying to help us contact the cab driver who drove us there from the train station. They also gave us good recommendations for restaurants that the locals go to. When we come back to Assisi, we will stay here again.

The only minor complaint we had is the breakfast is just ok. But, there was plenty from which to choose, so you can fill up before heading out. A note to other travelers: the restaurant at the hotel was closed. Breakfast was served, but that was it. However, there are several restaurants very close by.

Location, excellent! Staff, excellent and helpful!!!!! Room, excellent!!! Value, excellent!!! Breakfast included with room, great!!! Did I mention the great staff!!!!!!!! Favorite overall hotel from all my travels!

Nothing! Would have to make up something if wanted to be negative. Absolutely nothing negative at Hotel Umbra. Assisi is a wonderful city to visit.

The location was very convenient being just off the Piazza del Commune. The hotel had lovely outdoor common patios and one where you could enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Everyone was very helpful from booking it to helping with recommendations and reservations at good restaurants. I loved that I could open the doors to the patio and close the shutters to get fresh air at night. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved Assisi and our stay at Hotel Umbra was perfect.

Everything. From the location to the wonderful helpful staff everything was perfect. Paola answered all our questions before we arrived and Nadia was like our personal tour guide. Our room was perfect with a small balcony overlooking the valley. The restaurant Nadia recommended was fantastic Ristorante Medioedo. It was in a 1000 year old building built on top of Roman ruins. The owner was charming and the food was outstanding. Our stay from arrival to departure was perfect.

Everything about Hotel Umbra was excellent: very central location and easy to locate - very organised reception team - gave us maps, interesting and important information straight away on arrival - spotlessly clean - immaculate - lovely ambiance in the hotel with beautiful potted plants and very nice and secluded sitting areas with beautiful views - breakfast staff were very nice and relaxed. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. It is rated 3 star but certainly felt like it was a higher rating. Thank you all for a lovely stay.

Pigeons were a bit noisy in the morning !! but not too early !!
