The location of the hotel was excellent. Just 10 minutes walk into the centre. Lots of good restaurants and bars close. The receptionist was exceptionally helpful; giving us recommendations for restaurants and organising private secure parking for our car

Breakfast but probably because we are British. Although scrambled eggs were offered, they were rather dry and overcooked. I would have preferred some bacon to go with it rather than wurst. Also the internet was very slow.

Helpful staff, perfect location, lovely breakfast, in a renaissance palace converted into a modern hotel while maintaining its original structure and charm. The price was very reasonable. Parking.

The nature of the renovation meant there were several small steps up and down which required paying attention to where one is stepping. The room was clean and comfortable enough but would be improved if there were tissues, toiletries and a waste paper bin in the bathroom! There were two pillars on the bed and one in the cupboard so my husband had to take one from the couch to read in bed. I would suggest 4 pillows and two of them should be soft, preferably down. For a 4 star hotel, these small things should be standard.

Nice booking, comunication. Fast check in. The building is a palace! really beautiful. Has elevator. Staff excellent in all areas; really, all, but better in breakfast. Nice buffet breakfast with very nice people doing the moment special . . tthank you, Misses! The room big (3 adults) with 3 levels, kitchen (no or very few dishes). Thank you to all personel.

Our room looks to streeet, and there is a bar i front. There is no sounds, because its door is closed, but each time people goes out, there are noises. If you have light sleep, ask for a no street room. Wifi went really bad (room 202),

Breakfast was great and staff helpful. Location was convenient to major tourist attractions, especially Castello. Rooms seemed well-insulated as there was an outdoor concert two blocks away and we didn't hear anything in our first-floor room. Excellent restaurants (Trattoria Romantica, Pizza 73) across the street and in the hotel (though it's not affiliated).

Air conditioning kept room from becoming an oven, but didn't cool much. Location isn't really walkable from the railroad station, especially if you have luggage and/or it's the heat of summer. Bathroom was very large, but lacked hooks or other storage options. Be aware they will require payment of the city tax in cash, separately from the main bill.

I have been traveling to Ferrara for the past 15 years on buisness trips staying at various hotels (all around the castle). This time i brought my whole family with me and for the first time we stayed at Hotel Maxxim. We were amazed at the quality of the hotel. Very roomy for family of 4. Ladies working the reception and the breakfast area were super friendly and accomodating. Facility itself was very clean and felt luxurious. Breakfests in the garden were our families favorite. All in all great stay and in my opinion a bargain for what we paid for.

Nothing we did not like

Our attic room was a great size - there was plenty of space. The bed was very comfortable, however the pillows could definitely be improved. Air conditioning worked well. We stayed at the hotel for the Springsteen concert and the hotel really went the extra mile , providing rain ponchos, cake, water and fruit - all of which was fabulous!

The bathroom was fine, however the bath in our room was raised up and was dangerous to get and out of (no hand rail or grippy bath mat was provided). There was no screen around the bath so in order to shower you had to sit in the bath and shower with the hand held shower head.

Amazing breakfast, one couldn't ask for more. Breakfast staff were so friendly & very helpful. The rooms were spotless, thanks to the housekeeping staff. The hotel location was close to Ferrara town centre & about a 15 minute walk to the train station. This being convenient for day trips elsewhere.

The WiFi in the room kept dropping out, but later, after staff had checked, we found it OK if you stayed closer to the entrance door.

Amazing building with divine rooms. Great mix of modern and ancient decor. Loved the old time charm of cupboard..close to bus stop. Fantastic breakfast! Stunning breakfast room with lots of greenery. Comfy bed. I loved the kettle in room to make coffee, plus biscuits. A real winner after a cold day. Close to Spar and other markets to buy water

Fridge in room did not work

The loft rooms are fun -- an unusual experience. They do give you a feeling of lots of space, which can be important when you end up spending a lot of time in the room. Of course, by their very structure they come with some inconveniences: the bedroom is on the top level, whereas the bathroom is on the bottom level, etc. The location of the hotel is good, close enough to everything of touristic importance in the historical center. It is also close enough to good restaurants -- including an interesting restaurant in the hotel itself.

We were unable to control the heating in the room, and it was always a bit too warm. The wireless didn't always work well enough, which was a problem because at least some rooms don't have good cellular reception.

Hotel was cozy and clean. Room was in the attic and very big and comfortable, with a huge bathroom as well! Heating was there, room was supplied with tea bags, cookies and water and cleaned every day. Breakfast was really good, with a lot of homemade cakes and pastries, some savoury options (charcuterie, bread, eggs and sausage) and plenty of drinks, all to be enjoyed in a nice hall. Staff was super kind and available for any question.

Heating was probably centralised in the building, so the attic was too warm sometimes and we couldn't lower the temperature since no thermostat appears to be there. WiFi was available in the hotel, but too scattering in the attic so we couldn't use it if needed. Attic was walkable by tall people as well, only in the bathroom extra attention was needed to use the facilities. Some shelf for toiletries in the shower would be good.
