This renovated 1545 palazzo is a gorgeous gem in a small piazza. Not that easy to get to because it is only open to pedestrian traffic, but the hotel staff was very communicative in helping us find parking nearby and has a tuktuk or will send a taxi to collect you and bring you to the hotel. Once you are familiar with its location, it is a short 5-7 minute walk to the parking so very convenient for exploring the narrow streets that hold many delightful restaurants and shops. The renovation of the hotel was thoughtful and inspired, honoring the historic aspects like high plastered and frescoed ceilings combined with modern conveniences. Linens and towels were luxurious, the staff was so friendly and helpful! The breakfast on the 5th floor roof top was plentiful and a great variety.

there was nothing we would change! our room was a two story space with large windows much comfort. The location was great for walking to and viewing many beautiful sculptures and works of art in the city.

Old noble palazzo inside a warren of narrow streets and half-hidden piazzas. The unexpected interior is very modern, high-style design and very well thought-out. Rooms are clearly quite different from one another, but mine was stylishly comfortable and intelligently organized, albeit small. Extremely comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. Excellent breakfast buffet in light-filled top-floor dining rooms or on the sunny terrace. Thoroughly charming.

As a practical matter, the piazza the hotel is on is difficult to get a car into, so your taxi will have to leave you about 100 meters away. You’ll probably want your phone’s apps to guide you the last bit of the way. The hotel has directions on its site. Because of that and due to some oddly configured floors with steps (there is an elevator, though), this may not be a good choice for someone with a lot of luggage on their way to or from a cruise ship.

The hotel is right in the midst of things, and has a lovely entry way with frescos on the ceiling. The room was a great contrast in minimalism, but not in that 1980s Italian way you find in too many hotels there-- much more natural materials than shiny pointy angles. The staff were universally friendly and helpful both in Italian and English. Extra bonus, they have a water dispenser on the top floor to refill your water bottles and avoid using plastic bottles.No

Nothing to dislike, but worth noting that there are a few steps at the reception to get to the lift, and there were three steps in the bedroom, so this may not be an ideal hotel for someone in a wheelchair (though they may have ramps I didn't see)

Location in the old town of Genoa was good — IF you want to be in the middle of the old town with no taxi access. Close to sites, shopping, good restaurants. But charming hotel- nice building renovated, good breakfast, very comfortable room.

Would not recommend it — we did not understand how far out that “no cars” rule applies. Hard to get to the location with luggage. — taxi had to drop us a 9 minute walk. GPS Wasn’t working well because of narrow streets and tall buildings.

An amazingly well renovated Palazzo dating from 16th century golden time of Genova. Great value for money and perfect location to stroll around the old quarters of the city. A stunning study/library room. Nice amenities with coffee machine, biscuits and fruits available at all time. If you come by car and park at the recommended parking in the porto antico, do ask the hotel to come and pick you or/and you luggage with their tuk tuk! Nice reception and service. A great place for visiting Genova

The air conditioning system behind the window curtains is not providing great level of refreshment in hot summer days. We had to push the curtain behind to get sufficient fresh air in the room.

It was a little hard to find on foot and you have to dare go through a really narrow alley to get there in which there are some very sweet sex workers plying their trade and some not so sweet customers/dealers that make it a little scary. There might be easier ways to get there but I just followed Google Maps’ instructions. It was winter during my stay so it was quiet but the piazza in front might get noisy in summer

Our experience on Palazzo Grillo was exquisite! The building where the hotel is located is beautiful, and lovely decorated, and the facilities, really remind Roman architecture with beautiful, great taste. We got a transfer taxi from the airport which was lovely, he was very welcome and brought us literally inside the hotel, a great experience. The hotel arranged everything and they are very punctual. The staffs at reception are friendly and very respectful. The housekeeping was excellent as well, she tidied our room even though our first night in there. The room: It is very spacious, we had a view of the patio to the church and it was great. Big room and decoration once again fantastic, comfortable beds, great shower, and water pressure. Location: it was literally 5 minutes to most of the main attractions in the city, and we loved it. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Genoa.

The most amazing hotel . Staff were helpful , kind , informative and all with a smile . Both interior and exterior of hotel retain its beautiful history with charming rooms . Hotel extremely tasteful , but with modern comforts . Breakfast was the most tasty , and extensive I’ve encountered on my travels , served on a beautiful outdoor terrace or inside . We spent a delightful 4 days , and would most certainly love to return

The communication with the hotel prior to our arrival was very good, swift and clear answers on all our questions. We changed our room from a double into a junior suite because the suite has a larger bed (1.80 m wide as were the double has a 1.60) We got a perfect room with a great view (202) as requested. We travelled by car so we needed a parking spot.The hotel has a deal with the Marina Porto Antico garage were you will have a 50% discount. 18 euro a day which is a very good price! (Paid 36 in Florence, 30 in Nice and Marseille...) The shuttle service by Apecar (TukTuk) from the parking to the hotel was very convenient and an incredible experience well worth the 7 euro it costs. Well organized! We enjoyed the ride! Arrival at the hotel was even better, what an astonishing palazzo ! Situated in the old town on a lovely small square beside a beautiful church, the perfect location in the old town of Genova. Everything is in walking distance, and what a special city Genova is. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was great, bed and pillows very comfortable. The entire palazzo has been kept in tact with lot's of original fresco's, it's beautiful...Rooms are modern though with all you need for a comfortable stay. The public spaces were perfect, beautiful high ceilings, coffee machine available, incredibly special... Breakfast on the 5th floor was good, because of the situation with Covid I guess you had to choose your breakfast package one day before until 10 p.m. and they would serve it to you in the morning. The hotel is in a relatively small former palace that was tastefully rescued from ruin. The location was perfect for seeing the cultural sites in the historic center--we saw no meaningful alternative with the combination of location and comfort. The bed was unusually comfortable. The bathroom was large and modern. The staff at the desk were great. The breakfast area was tastefully modern and the food was ample and delicious. Our complaints (below) were very minor.

A small side table in the bathroom would have been helpful--there was certainly room for one. There was a set of shelves set into the wall that we could make work, but the light was not good there. The WiFi was sometimes too weak to be usable--not the first nice hotel where this has happened. These were very minor problems for us.
