Location right on the waterfront opposite the aquarium and the Vascello Neptune pirates vessel, excellent access to the old city. The hotel is above the street, discreetly snuggled in-between MacDonalds. Many, many places to eat around on different budgets, just a short walk up to the main shopping street. Room was very large and comfortable. Although just next to the waterfront elevated freeway, it was very quiet inside. The bed was huge and comfortable. Bathroom well appointed, towels everywhere. Wifi was fast and consistent. The staff were super helpful and attentive. Breakfast had a reasonable selection (massive cookie collection), you were requested to name a time slot as cooked selections (wide selection) were individually ordered and served. I would stay there again.

Not much we did not like. Breakfast ran short on croissants towards the end.

Hotel itself was beautiful, we booked the King sized room which was well appointed, clean and comfortably furnished, though we both found the mattress was too hard. Breakfast was okay, just a continental with croissants and many pastries on offer and a little fruit salad and yoghurt, cooked breakfast was an additional cost. Tiara on reception was very friendly, offering fabulous assistance and spoke great English. Located in Old Town and overlooking the Old Port, it was reasonably well positioned and within walking distance to many of the churches and the piazza di Ferrari.

Inconsistency in replenishing some of the rooms supplies, particularly toilet rolls and teabags, which we like to have on waking, prior to a coffee at breakfast, only one was in the room on arrival between two people, then not replaced . Surrounding area was sadly covered in graffiti and at times the locals made us feel a little intimidated and unsafe.

Everything is perfect. It is at the port with a sea.view. The room is spacious, very big. Breakfast was wonderful. Staff is very kind and helpful.

Very large rooms with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The breakfast menu was decent and the staff were nice. The room temperature was also perfect for sleeping due to a good climate control system.

Only thing worth noting is that the area immediately next to the hotel is not so great. I would stay there again because the location is very central and it is easy to get to from the station and a short walk to all the main sites. You just need to keep your wits about you.

All staff immensely helpful & friendly. Freshly cooked breakfast made to order is an absolute bonus & fresh coffee too! Lovely rooms, spacious & clean - great rainfall shower with traditional option & comfy bed. Hotel De Ville is well placed to access all of Genoa’s delights. I highly recommend a stay here!!

Genoa is a large working port and so don’t expect glamour in the hotel’s immediate street. Our rooms looked down on to a small courtyard which looked very unloved. I feel this is a missed opportunity of the hotel’s as all it needed is a jet wash & some potted trees/plants/central statue to turn it into a wow factor place to look down on, rather than one to close one’s curtains on.

Room was cool! Very spacious compared to most in Europe. The beds were good though one was a fold out couch. That is what they consider a bed in Europe. LOL!

That part of town in Genoa is a little sketchy. The hotel was a bit hard to find but once we found it, we liked it. We pulled our bags from the train station and by the time we got there, we were pretty tired and sweaty. It was very nice of the Hotel staff to give us glasses of water and encouraged us to sit down to relax we got in at noon and we’re given our room right away. These are all positive things.

Chiara was most welcoming and made our stay pleasant. Spacious room with a view of the harbour. Walking distance to cultural sites. Hot breakfast made to order, with a broad spread of cereal , pastries and cheeses. Good wifi.

Not the most salubrious location. Uneven cobblestone and pavements make navigating luggage from the train or bus station to the hotel a challenge.

The hotel is housed in a Beautiful Palazzo. Access is on the port side, from within the historic portico that runs along that area. Wide marble staircases inside and pillars, high ceilings. Rooms are large and have views of the port. Overhead rain shower, with decent pressure and lots of hot water. Rooms facing the port are quiet despite the vehicle traffic. Staff were polite, respectful and responsive. Breakfast was in a nice room off the check in area, with very high ceilings. Buffet of pastries, meats, cheeses, yogurt. A la carte menu of several types of omelettes and eggs, bacon, toast, caprices salad, pancakes/waffles.

Mattresses were more firm than we prefer.

Small boutique hotel in an old palazzo right by the Porto Antico. Location perfect. Lots of great restaurants within easy walking distance. All the main tourist attractions are also close by. The hotel is spotlessly clean , with huge , comfortable rooms. The breakfast selection is good, with omelettes , eggs, pancakes cooked to order. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and they are very helpful. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the railway station, making sightseeing further afield eg Portofino - readily accessible.
