It was very short stay in Padova. Only 2 days one of them we use to visit Venice. Of course we would like to come back to see Padova in more details. Location of the hotel was great everywhere 5-10 minutes walk. Just one step to Cathedral that make your feel magnifical. Even to train station you can walk something around 20 minutes. Breakfast, personal, restaurant infront of hotel everything was very good. Room was the best during our 14 days travel in Italy. Family room with two bedrooms and very sweet interior design. Sound insulation, cleanliness, comfort all the great. I can't find really any problem. But the best was signor at the reception made jokes and helped with any information. Thanks to him to make our days smily.

It can be kettle in room we like to drink some hot tea in cold evenings.

Best location in Padua., IMO. Next to Bascilica of Saint Anthony, very close to botanical gardens, about 10 minute walk thru historic section to chapel with Giotto frescos, very short walk to university of Padua. A very elegant hotel with an elegant breakfast. Excellent housekeeping. The furnishings were very classic and upscale. Lift worked well. The staff were great with specific directions, answering questions, getting taxis, greeting you when coming and going, everything you would want in a classic hotel. One can walk to the train station. Great base for day trips to Vincenza and Venice. There was a marathon in town when we checked out and it seemed that no one could get a taxi to the train station due to blocked streets - however, the very pleasant man at the hotel front desk somehow, through much effort on the phone, managed to get us a cab although it seemed impossible at the time. Now that is great service!

Maybe some chocolates in room upon arrival and some travel leaflets to local attractions.

The reception staff could not have been more helpful, and the chambermaids gave us an excellent service. The room was a good size and the bathroom had everything we needed. We were there for 5 days and the linen was changed 3 times which was nice as it was very humid. unfortunately the air conditioning had been put out of action by lightning the day before we arrived but it was still possible to be comfortable at night. The hotel faced the historic Basilica and the views of the building and the square were very enjoyable.

The breakfast room was too small and cramped; the staff did not know how to service the automatic coffee machine and twice there were no dessert spoons for fruit or the rather inadequate offering of cereals. The only fruit came out of a tin. Ventilation is often a problem in Italian breakfast rooms and this was no exception although the windows were all opened one morning. Parking was not available in the hotel garage as advertised but there was plenty of parking in the streets immediately outside.

For over ten years now my wife and I have been staying at the Donatello during our regular visits to Padua (my wife is a Padovana and grew up in the city). It has changed ownership in this period and recently underwent some minor renovation which has pleasingly spruced up the rooms and decor without losing any of the hotel's original charm or ambience. A few of the original staff remain - including the ever-helpful Carlo, night manager - and, amongst the relative newcomers, Manuel, Giancarlo and Walter have likewise always been exceptionally welcoming to us and friendly. We think of the Donatello as a regular 'home from home' when we are in the city, and though other decent small hotels in the area do offer additional choice it remains the best option in our view for a stay in central Padova. The location - right next to the Santo (Basilica of San Antonio) - is unrivalled (less noisy for instance than being right in one of the central squares like dei Signori, or in the Ghetto); the staff are lovely; the breakfast buffet offers plenty of choice; and all in all it still presents travellers with good value for money too. If you can afford the surcharge, ask for one of the larger upper-story rooms with a sweeping view over Piazza del Santo and the famous statue of Gattamelata (which gives the Donatello its name): surely one of the finest in Europe.

Nothing.

The location is opposite the Basilca and square which is lovely. Its a short walk to the city centre. Botanic Gardens are 4 mins walk. There are two tram stops within walking distance you can use to get to the train station easily. Breakfast was a wide range buffet, suits all tastes. Room was spacious. A moderately priced restaurant under the hotel that did great pizzas. Across the road a nice patisserie again reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful whenever asked for anything I would give them a 10/10.

The room was spacious. Bathroom, shower doors needed fixing jammed up, not easy to slide. Few electric socket points in the room. Needed a couple to charge items like phone and laptop. Bedside light switch was taped up to repair it. Looks a bit amateurish.

Hotel Donatello is a gem. Walter at the main service counter was very professional and super helpful. The breakfast is outstanding, with an excellent array of pastries, eggs, meats, and cheeses. We always left full. The location is exceptional. It is close to major sights, a grocery store, and a self-use laundromat.

Honestly, the experience was super positive. The biggest challenge might be the walk from the tram. That said, Booking requires a certain number of characters for positives and negatives. We didn't have any negatives.

The location is outstanding with easy walkable access to all the major sites. Breakfast was very good with friendly and efficient staff. It was excellent to be able to open the window for fresh air and to hear the Basilica bells even though the mosquitoes took advantage!

It would have been much better if the room had a kettle and mugs for making tea. In addition a waste bin in the bedroom as well as the bathroom would have been useful.

The staff are wonderful; always smiling and ready to help at any time. The room was clean, spacious and the TV had all the apps which isn't always the case when travelling. Most importantly, the location is essentially perfect. A beautiful 10 minute walk to the city centre and adjacent to the historic St Antonio's Basilica. I have stayed here twice before to visit friends and will do so again.

The room was a slightly noisy in the evening, the shower spurted in different directions and there were hand towels instead of bath towels but I am assuming that was an error. (Just small things that wouldn't affect the stay too much)

It is very well located to St. Anthony's Padua church. From the main train station we took taxi as we had suitcases. But, there is a tram service with 5 minutes walk which takes you to the train station. The hotel was after renovations and it was good and recommended.

Air conditioned was not working and it was hot inside the room. It would have been better if the tub with shower had a cover as the water was going out when taking a shower. Very dim lighting in the bathroom.

Perfect location, very comfortable room, OK breakfast, air conditioning helped during a hot spell.

These are minor things and recommendations: 1) please install a shower curtain. The bath tub has no shower curtain and nothing to prevent the water from someone showering to splash all over the bathroom; that was not pleasant at all and not safe either. 2) please have available an outlet in the room (rather in the bathroom) where guests can charge their devices (phone, computer, tablet). We had to use the bathroom plug for that; the outlets in the room were already used by the night lamps and were also of the small kind that did not accommodate my laptop charger/adapter.
