The view was unbelievable and Alfonso was amazing - so kind, thoughtful and fun! He genuinely wanted us to have a great time - thank you!

They could have been clearer about where to be dropped off by taxi - we had to walk down many stairs with lots of luggage and injured our shoulders.

We did some research before, and chose La Tartana mainly because of its location (not too many steps and close to the beach) - and we could not be more grateful for it, as it met our requirements and was within our budget. The staff - Alfonso (main desk), Maria (breakfast) and Silvia (main desk afternoon and owner) - were extremely friendly, kind and helpful all the time. Our overall stay was six days, in a beautiful and spacious room on the ground floor with a small terrace and sea view, it was much more than what we could ask for! The location was amazing - 5 min at most from the beach, the main pier, shops and restaurants - and Positano overall was a great “base” to go to the different places in the Amalfi Coast we visited (Amalfi, The Path of the Gods trail, Capri). We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to stay!

Villa La Tartana is in an excellent location, a short walk to the beach (but still quiet and peaceful) and a short walk to the shopping, bars and restaurants. We had a beautiful view of the beach from our balcony and also from our bathroom window - you were never without a view of the sea! The staff are excellent including the lovely owner and the kitchen and cleaning staff - it felt like family! The no.1 thing about Villa La Tartana however is Alfonso who made our trip EVERYTHING. From the second we arrived and met Alfonso, he made us feel so happy and welcome. He gave us excellent advice on where to eat and what to do, we had the best time chatting to him and miss him and Positano so much already. I cannot wait to get back to Positano and would 100% stay here again.

The location of this pad is literally behind the Santa Maria church, which was probably the best location I could imagine of. It's secluded and yet not, not too near and not far at all from the beach. It's about 200 - 250m away from the drop off point from any car/taxi/bus and it's downhill (that means when you go to the pick up points, it's uphill). Loads of things to see, I did feel safe around that area and finally about the Villa - my room assigned was beautifoooool! The scenery that greeted us every morning is on another echelon! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped with anything you might need, inc. hair dryer. There was a wardrobe for you to hang up your long clothes, a little quaint table to inspire some writing, and one thing I liked doing was opening the doors and window to the balcony, it's almost like indoor/outdoor living for us. We managed to take our short afternoon siestas every afternoon. Whenever, we come back each day, the room was clean and fresh. Thank you to the housekeeping team who did a fabulous well appreciate job of it. Breakfast was served next to the smallest lobby ever. It was even served from the smallest kitchenette ever, BUT everything served was delicious, delightful and delectable. My favourite was the few options of ham, and the cappuccino by Ms. Maria, what a pickup for the day! Thank you. We love her, skating around the space gently and swiftly, in her lovely attire and make-up. Her smile just warmed up the space with the soft gentle voice saying "prego" all the time. There was another gentleman who handled the front desk and the kitchen, now I remembered the omelette he made was also very delicious! Finally, it's Alfonso, who literally welcomed us with opened arms. He really made sure that we have everything we needed and were able to converse very well in English.

Nothing I didn't like - except that if we were to go back to Positano again, I will be devastated if we could not stay in this pad again.

We stayed with our family during our first trip to Positano.  The location is the perm just a few steps away from the main church and close to the beaches. In Positano, it’s very difficult with luggage, but this was an exception,  it’s an easy walk from Piazza dei mulini. This is definitely a place we’re coming back to. Everyone was very nice .  The gentleman at the reception was amazing. Maria always helped us in the morning with our breakfast. She is incredible.  We did not feel like we stayed in a hotel. We stayed home.  five stars definitely. We will come back and will tell everyone about this place .  the views from the room are phenomenal. The beach it’s right in front. It’s just magical.  if you’re coming to Positano, this is the place. Stop looking you have found it.

We liked everything

The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Silvia, the hotel owner, welcomed us on our arrival and made us feel like her personal guests. The whole of her team was friendly and keen and able to answer questions and provide information about local services etc. The hotel was charming and individual and in an excellent location. The beds were very comfortable with high quality linen. The breakfast room had lovely views over the sea.On our last morning when we needed to leave an early breakfast was made available . I would certainly stay at the Villa Tartana again if I returned to Positano.

I would have liked better ventilation in the bathroom. There was no extractor over the shower and although there was a window it was very high up and inaccessible. Breakfast would be more to my taste were there fewer cakes and filled pastries and more plain options. However, Maria who served the breakfast was very accommodating and willing to please. There was always freshly squeezed orange juice available and scrambled eggs made individually by Maria on request.

I have traveled alot but this hotel has the best service ever. From start to finish alfonso was truly wonderful and very genuine. I lost my phone as we were getting our ride to airport. He helped arrange a ride for my cell phone. Everyone at hotel went above and beyond. And the view and location can't be beat. I will always stay here when visiting positano. Even though most don't tip in Europe please DO especially when they go above and beyond! Book this place!

Absolutely nothing. Perfect stay!

My stay at La Villa Tartana exceeded my expectations which were already so high! Before I arrived, I reached out to Silvia and Alfonso (hotel managers) various times with questions, requests, and assistance with making reservations in the area. They were beyond sweet, helpful, and timely in assisting me. My luggage was actually lost at the airport and they made every effort to help me communicate with the airport staff and taxi service to get my back returned asap. Moreover, the hotel is adorable and in the perfect location (less than 10 min walk to all the best restaraunts and 2 mins to the beach/marina). We had a sea view room and it was so stunning and picturesque. I will 100% return when I am in Positano.

We loved our stay there. The staff was wonderful and gave us a very home like atmosphere. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was close to the beach, and the view was incredible. We got tons of exercise walking up and down the steps but that’s where you are in Positano. they provided a nice breakfast every morning with fruit and pastry and cappuccino and orange juice. They gave great recommendations for restaurants and sites. There is a wonderful archaeological museum on the church right next to the property worth seeing.

Stunning views from the room with a lovely balcony to sit at and enjoy the beach scene below. Room was well stocked with bath slippers, toiletries and lots of clean towels changed daily. They also provide beach towels and a carrier bag, a real bonus and very convenient! Location is superb, as it is right above the main beach and within easy access to all the great restaurants, shops and sightseeing. Very friendly staff, made us feel welcome and well cared for. They helped us with organising an airport transfer and helped with the bags, nothing was too much trouble. We would stay here again!

The rooms are a little small, but ideal if you travel light and still a minor downside which is well overcompensated by the other benefits! Same goes for the breakfast area, which can get a little crowded at peak times. Perhaps, in hindsight we should have taken our breakfast up to the room and enjoy on the wonderful balcony.
