Based on product and service alone, Cesar Augusto is a 3/5 - however, its great location and value for money in comparison to general market pricing make this a 4/5 for me. We stayed for 3 nights during early September, so still high season and a busy time in Sorrento, yet our rate was reasonable (c. 180per night) The hotel is a mere few minutes walk from Sorrento’s main square, shops and restaurants - and the beaches a little further with thanks to the steep steps and descend to the beachfront. As a result, we were easily able to pop back and forth to the hotel whether it was to change, drop something off, pick something up, etc. We had a spacious room on the 5th floor with a nice view. Interiors were basic and quite dated - the hotel is pretty dated in general and could do with a refurb - although, it didn’t bother us in fairness and it’s probably part of the reason we could afford a nice hotel so central in Sorrento in the first place. Breakfast was average, but again perhaps reflected in the price. It offered a decent spread of breads, hams/cheeses, pastries, fruits, cereals, some eggs (which we didn’t try). Plenty on offer to start your day right and we wouldn’t have wanted much more give we were eating our weight in pizza and pasta every night. The rooftop pool and bar is great - it has fantastic views and is generally quiet given the hotel is located on the upper side of town, so it seemed to be only hotel guests who visited. Nice for a quiet aperitivo before going out, by the pool or a drink after dinner - depending on what you’re looking for, otherwise a short walk into town and everything is on your doorstep. Overall, a very nice hotel - I would definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

We had a lovely balcony and a great view of Sorrento. Location was a taxi ride from the marina and/or a short walk from the train station. They provided coffee/tea facilities but didn't stock it up each day. Plenty of cupboard space for clothes etc. Only one bag rack provided. Hotels should really provide 2 in each room. The rooftop pool was awesome. Breakfast was the usual (that we had gotten used to on our travels - warmish scrabbled eggs and fried up cold bacon along with a selection of pastries, cheeses, pastrami's, salads, yoghurt, fruit, toast etc.

Facilities could do with a freshen up or a paint makeover! It seemed pretty old and hadn't been upgraded for sometime and a tad pricey - but that's no doubt because of it's location.

Wonderful hotel, completely exceeded our expectations. Wonderful location, beautiful views, roof top bar, restaurant and swimming pool with 360o views of the bay of Naples including the sunset and Vesuvius. The staff were very personable and efficient, the breakfast had an amazing selection and quality. Had drinks on the rooftop as the sunset and dined as the moon rose. Perfect for trips to Pompeii and by train. 5 minutes walk to the station and 5 minutes into town for dining and shopping. Close to the ferry too but v steep climb. Wonderfully comfortable and spacious rooms and beds.

It is a noisy main road at the front which some people may not like but a very spacious terrace onto lemon groves opposite beyond the road and beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel.

Good selection at breakfast. Roof top bar and swimming pool excellent. Staff really friendly.

Dinner in the evening was OK although the ambience could have been better. It was so quiet, even on the Saturday night, and perhaps some soft music in the background would help. The food was quite good but was often served lukewarm even on a quiet night. Service was also slow at times and we received our courses at different times. Would also have been nice to have had tea/coffee making facilites in the rooms although I appreciate this may not be standard practice in Italy.

The location - a few minutes walk from Tasso Square. Hotel staff service. The breakfast is excellence . A large, spacious and comfortable room. Hotel bar on the 6th floor and the view from there. Parking at the hotel at a reasonable price.

We were upgraded to the best room in the hotel, as far as we were concern. We had an amazing view from our balcony, over the bay, with Mount Vesuvius in the background. We had an initial problem with safe in the room but someone came immediately to rectify it. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast very good, the facilities clean and it was within a few minutes walk of the centre of town. Due to the fact that we were upgraded we had tea and coffee facilities provided in the room. However, these were not topped up and there was no milk. There was, however, a fridge (mini bar) in the room, so we bought some milk and kept it in this. Relaxing on the balcony, in the balmy evening air, with a drink, watching the twinkly lights all around the bay highlighting Mount Vesuvius and listening to the general atmosphere of Sorrento life in the background - we were in our element. Thank you so much.

If we hadn't been upgraded, we would not have had tea and coffee making facilities and this makes a big difference to us. Otherwise there really was nothing to complain about.

The property is centrally located and an easy walk to Piazza Tasso. The rooms are spacious and clean, and nicely decorated, and the beds are comfortable. Each room has a balcony with table and chairs. There is a lift. The dining room is very large and table and chairs well spaced. The dining room overlooks the Main Street. The bar, although small, seems adequate. The pool is located on the sixth floor and opens on 1st May - just after we left. Breakfast is buffet style and plentiful, including scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages, cold meats and cheeses, fruit, cereals, juices, coffee, etc. From the dinner menu you can select from three different starters, main courses and desserts - beautifully cooked and presented.

There is nothing to dislike. However, and this is not a criticism, coffee and tea making facilities would have been welcomed, so this is something you may want to consider.

Superb and varied. The waiting staff were fantastic. My favourite was Rafael. He was so lovely. But they were all fantastic.

The evening meals were sometimes not as hot as they could have been. It was a shame there was not a kettle in the room. We asked for one but there was none available because we were not in a superior room. But it was only a small thing. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to make our stay so lovely.

A clean and spacious room with comfortable bed and good comfy pillows. The bathroom is large and the shower good and warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The garden area is lovely with quick access to the centre of town.

Two minor points to note. The bathroom sink was partially blocked and took a long time to drain. The breakfast was good, but was let down by very weak coffee which was catered by two coffee machines. Unfortunately both failed to produce the coffee as expected from Italian hosts.
