Great breakfast, quiet room and excellent hotel location.

Young girl working at the hotel reception could check her attitude when working with hotel customers, however unstylish etc. they may appear to her 😉.

We enjoyed everything about this hotel from the moment we arrived. The location could not be better with the lake and it's beautiful views right outside the front door. The pool and bistro area was great and we ate lunch there most of the 8 days we were there. The breakfast was amazing and there was a good selection of Gluten Free products for my Wife who is Coeliac. (They also made her a perfect soft boiled egg every morning) The staff were excellent too, and we were well looked after by the young girl behind the bar (sorry I did not get her name) and the lad working the pool area as well as the restaurant staff. We had a room in the little annex which overlooked the pool which was comfortable and clean. All in all we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stresa

All staff except for one in the dining room at breakfast were exceptional. Love seeing staff in formal attire - very respectful. Unfortunately one make staff member was not very subtle about his displeasure when we asked to move our table to the one he was already re/ settling after the departure of the previous occupants. He gestured to another table but my husband pointed out it had a pillar blocking the beautiful view of the lake which we were overlooking. Although we can’t speak Italian we got the gist of his diatribe which was unwarranted & unnecessary. Other than that our stay at Hotel Astoria was excellent.

I love this hotel! The staff is very helpful, polite, talkative and kind. The view from the room was amazing. Very comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom. The hotel is very old-kind-exclusive, so you can feel a bit like James Bond (Sean Connery style). Breakfast was delicious and once again - the service will make you feel like royalty. I must say - It was our first time in northern Italy and I have to admit that there is a different, calmer and friendlier atmosphere here than, for example, in Rome or on the Amalfi coast. An ideal place to relax. Grazie mille!

Small tv, but you don't visit Maggiore to watch tv, so it wasn't an issue for us. The hotel is very clean, but they could also tidy up the balconies from cobwebs, because if you don't like spiders you might be a bit scared.

The hotel is beautiful, perfectly located next to the lake and close to the centre. The room was spacious and clean. When we arrived, the room had already the AC turned on, so the temperature in the room was perfect, we could cool down after a day in the sun. Bathroom was a little outdated, but nothing to complain about, everything was well maintained and functioning. Good breakfast with plenty of choices. Very nice swimming pool. Absolutely nothing to complain about in this hotel, I would come back with pleasure.

Old school amenities and decor Hard bed and pillows They make a copy of credit card when we arrive although they already have the booking.com confirmation and card details - i did not feel safe. In any case I gave another card that i don't use, so any irregular transactions linked to this card will be easilly traced down to this reservation and will obviously be reported.

Room was compact but very clean with and had a well thought out design with lovely art work. I was lucky enough to have a view of the Isola Bella from the bathroom. The view from the balcony was to die for . For the price I could only get the back room of at other similar hotels. I love the flowers in their garden keeping in tradition with bygone days. The pool was lovely for a swim in the afternoons. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh.

More towels by the pool. Barman could do with some cocktail training.

Breakfast was quite good. Location of the hotel was perfect, really nice front yard garden with many flowers. There was a nice pool outside in the back yard but it was not heated. The personnel were nice and helpful.

The room was quite hot, the covers in the bed were too warm too. It was not possible to turn air condition on. There were a few ants in the bathroom and room, they tried to eat my chocolate etc.

Our Junior Suite was First Class. The pool area was good. Our room maid was charming. Front desk were a little distracted at times but efficient. Breakfast was excellent although we would have liked the windows opened on more days. They were only opened on two days. The bar and service were excellent.

The worse part was a poor and repetitive selection of cereals at breakfast. The roof area could do with improving.

Exceptional sea view from the balcony which made up for all the shortfalls of the property. Generous breakfast.

Staff was good at ignoring waving hands. Lady at the reception refused to open a bottle of wine for us to drink inside our own room, saying we'd have to buy from the restaurant. Seriously have never heard of this kinda restrictions before.
