After the initial disappointment of not getting a lake facing room, the rest was great. Fortunately we were there over a weekend so that the construction at the back of the hotel was not in operation. This may not be the most striking building in Stresa but it is a great, well located lake fronting property. Rooms are very pleasant and if price is not an issue then book a lake view room. Breakfast is very nice and wait staff are happy to bring fresh coffee and omelets to order. Open air parking is available and very convenient across the side street. The roof top bar is a striking feature with its relaxed views across Lake Maggiore. Drinks are priced on the high side but then you probably only live once.

There was nothing not to like.

All the staff were super friendly, especially the rooftop staff. The beds in the rooms are SO comfy!! I have slept better there than at home! The rooftop infinity pool and bar area is amazing. Quiet and relaxing for adults only. Great cocktails and food too. Room service super quick and lovely varied breakfast options. The view from the balcony is great and the hotel caters for everyone from all over the globe. We even got a kettle when asked. We were on honeymoon and had a nice little note and treats put out on arrival. Thank

Nothing. We had a mix up with our booking for the spa treatments which could have been handled a little better and was a fraction overpriced for what it was, but still a nice spa area and the therapist was friendly. Also think sometimes the bar was closed to guests for private functions which didn’t affect us but just be aware.

Beautiful, spotless hotel in a great location overlooking Lago Maggiore! Be sure to get a room with a view of the lake! Really nice breakfast every day from 7-10 am. The sky bar is amazing and the small infinity pool by the bar was fabulous.

The drink prices at the bar are high for the area. You'll pay 14 euro for an Aperol spritz, and you can get one for 6 euro just around the corner, but you're paying for the experience, and for us it was with every penny.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel: the breakfasts were wonderful; the pool was convenient and lovely to swim right at the water's edge; the staff was friendly and helpful; the size of the room, including the balcony, made a 6 night stay very comfortable. We never felt like we were "stuck" in our room. We enjoyed being in it. We both took home the complimentary slippers because they are comfortable and a nice reminder of our visit. It would have been lovely if there were 2 sizes of slippers, since mine are really too big.

Great location, beautiful views, lots of amenities, beautiful breakfast area, nice rooms. We stayed in a junior suite. The room was a bit smaller than I had expected, but the balcony and views more than made up for it. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was beautiful and large. We loved having breakfast out on the terrace. Location was perfect to walking into Stresa. Hotel staff was a bit unwelcoming at check-in (but I think it may have been a language issue). However, they were fabulous at assisting with dinner reservations and a needed car service. Parking at the hotel is super easy, reserved parking lot right across the street. We loved the Sky Bar, great drinks/wines, amazing views and good snacks. The pool/beach area is beautiful, but felt it was a tad bit small for the size of the hotel.

Wished the room had coffee

Hotel La Palma is a gem in the beautiful town of Stresa. It is located walking distance from the Stresa train station, which was very convenient for arrival and departure. The hotel is also located on the main street/promenade in town so the center is just a few minutes walk. And the hotel is… gorgeous!!! Our room had a beautiful view of the lake from the balcony and everything was new and clean. The shower was well-equipped with multiple settings… a delight! And the breakfast surpassed our wildest expectations!!! There were countless cheeses, breads, pastries, yogurts, fruit, all in an open dining space connected to the outdoor patio/lawn. But the ultimate highlight was the spectacular pool on the lake!!! Because of our tight schedule, we squeezed in a morning swim at 8:30 am on the day of departure. It was truly a magical experience in the most stunning setting. I would not hesitate for a moment to return to this fabulous hotel. It will always be a treasured part of my travels in Italy.

I can’t think of anything!

We liked everything about this hotel. The room size was great, the bathrooms were spacious, the view of the lake from the balcony was amazing. The lake-front infinity pool was fantastic and the rooftop bar was also delightful. Breakfast was full of options and the staff was very attentive to service.

Our only complaint (and it is not anything major) was that the bar takes a very long time to make and deliver drinks, both at the lakefront pool and on the rooftop. For the number of orders that they are processing there may need to be another bartender or two to increase the speed of service. We probably would have spent more money at the hotel by ordering additional rounds of drinks if they had been delivered faster. But - when they delivered the drinks they were made quite well.

We stayed here with work colleagues after a conference in Milan. Loved the pools, the buffet breakfasts, the proximity to town and all the restaurant options. I would love to come back and stay here again.

Double rooms aren't that big to share with another colleague. Balcony view made up for it. It was difficult to use the rooftop pool and facilities as it was often crowded with non-hotel guests. Obviously attracted to the amazing view.

The service in the sky bar could be better - we felt ignored and overlooked. It seemed that non residents got preferential treatment on a couple of occasions - so we chose not to visit again. This was not the case in the hotel bar where the staff were attentive.

Great Rooftop Lounge Bar with an Infinity pool. Excellent staff service, really intuitive and very nice. Specious rooms, reception staff so friendly and forthcoming. Would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.

Room was rather simplistic, could use more hangers in the bathroom and side rugs near the bed. There was no coffee kettle or coffee machine. We also found that breakfast could use some upgrade in terms of veriaty.
