Amazing location, next door to the Palazzo Grimani and very near to San Marco! The pictures do not do it enough justice: it is a lovely, well-decorated, comfortable, family-run hotel with nicely designed rooms which look out across the terracotta rooftops to the nearby churches. The staff are the greatest highlight however, and you would not do wrong to simply arrive at the hotel and ask them how you should best fill your holiday - they have excellent advice! Breakfast is homemade cakes and pies, along with ham, cheese, yogurt and bread and they were easily able to manage gluten free options (like most of Italy)!

4+ flights of stairs to get to the rooms was a lot - staff carried cases up and down for us and it meant good views but would challenge anyone with reduced mobility.

Lovely homely place, in an old Venetian building alongside the Santa Maria Formosa canal in the centre of Castello, right by Palazzo Grimaldi - perfect location to walk around Venice. Family-run, which was great as the owners (Giada and Andrea and their mum) were kind and helpful, full of tips and suggestions. Very clean, beds and shower were good and the breakfast was good value with some local delicacies, though not a wide selection. Our daughter loved meeting Chip the dog too.

The reception was mostly unmanned, though luckily that wasn't an issue for us as the owners were there when we arrived and told us everything we needed to know. We carried keys to the building and room around Venice with us.

Can’t recommend this enough! What a wonderful family-run place to stay in Venice! Our hosts were very attentive, helpful and accommodating. We were able to check in before noon and were provided fantastic recommendations for little-known gems around the city. The room was very comfortable, we had everything we needed. Although we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, the buffet looked appetising and was served in a lovely large old dining room. Many places around Venice feel like a tourist factory, but the personal touch at Locanda Ca‘ Formosa felt very genuine. Thank you for taking the time to chat with us and making our stay so pleasant!

I travelled here with my sister and for us it was perfect. The location is really great, easily accessible, Andréa and Giada (and Cippi 🥰) are really helpful and nice. The room was very clean, we had all the facilities we needed. I see some people complained a bit about the thin walls, for us this wasn’t an issue and I’m very sensitive to noise. The stairs are a bit much to climb constantly, but we didn’t mind them too much. Would book again for sure. It was a bit cold this time of year (and we were also a bit ill), but Giada made sure our room was heated when we complained about it (by keeping the AC on when we were away) and we used the AC to keep it warm ourselves.

The room was clean, sizeable and well air conditioned. It was very well located, being a short walk from the public boat stop and near to major attractions like the Rialto Bridge, St Mark's Square, etc. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and full of good suggestions, and were more than happy to assist with late check in, baggage storage etc. For the price and location, I would highly recommend.

The walls were a little thin, so there was some noise in the morning and evening - the decor is also a little dated, and the water pressure in the shower wasn't brilliant. Overall, these are minor, especially considering the relative price compared to other BnBs in the city!

We liked the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explained everything, helped to carry the suitcase to the 3rd floor. The hotel rooms are on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, it was not a problem for us, informing just in case its significant to others. The hotel is in a good location, we found it easily. A big advantage - luggage storage. The room is spacious, clean, comfortable bed, there is an electric kettle, coffee and tea. Breakfast selection was small, mainly sweets, I didn't like it. Breakfast is for additional cost. Good value for money. All in all a good stay!

The location was great. Giada was super super friendly. I was surprised and delighted to find a pleasant note on my arrival, apologising for the misunderstanding with regards to 3rd floor rooms with no lift. She had left me a wonderful panettone! I was sooo appreciative and it was delicious! Not sure if my mum is going to get any of it! Lol Staff at breakfast were also very helpful and polite. Giada also went out of her way to find us a possible gondola/boat ride to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks. I love this exceptional customer service. It makes me happy and makes me want to return. Despite no lift! Haha Thank you again. 😁

I mean, yes, I have disabilities so the lift would have been perfect. It was very difficult with my asthma but other than that everything was great.

Fabulous family run small hotel in most perfect location right next to hidden pearl of Venice Palazzo Grimani, short walk to San Marco and Rialto. Very welcoming and attentive staff, giving great recommendations of the area, ordering taxi boat for return to Santa Lucia train station on a day when public transport was on strike (even personally checking on the boat before its arrival). Comfortable room with everything one may need. They are serving amazing breakfast, which I didn't have the opportunity to enjoy due to work schedule, but definitely recommend.

I'd call this place a boutique hotel, really cute intimate place to stay. We'd go back in a heartbeat. Lovely host, really helpfully gave us a map and marked places for us to go for food and trips. Lovely comfortable, large room with AC. Nice large shower and bathroom. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice. Nice location, not on main thoroughfare.

We prefer more savoury options for breakfast but understood that most Italians have a sweet breakfast. Grout in the shower needs a good scrub is all but it's the end of the season and I guess that'll be a winter job. It was clean and that's the main thing. 👌
