Friendly and really helpful staff, the building kept at a comfortable temperature, fantastic location for the water taxi, very quite, the breakfast was excellent, let us keep our bags in the hotel before we got to our check in time and when we needed to check out, very good location for shops and exploring Venice and an all round great place to go on holiday.

Bathroom was a little small and could maybe do with a deep clean but overall was a clean and tidy room with fresh towels and bedding.

Third stay at this hotel over twenty years. In good weather, the location is excellent. This time we were there in raw, cold December and it seemed too far from good restaurants long after dark. Formerly, though, we loved being directly on a small, working canal where we could watch local commercial maritime activity in a quiet, interesting neighborhood. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the Accademia Bridge and vaporetto stop, extremely convenient. As for the hotel, the staff couldn't be nicer. Extremely important in Italy, the beds are perfectly comfortable, made with good linens. All is immaculate, and there is a nice bar adjacent to the lobby for nightcaps after returning from dinner. Breakfast is exceptional, almost extravagant, with every choice you could want as well as freshly made omelettes to taste.

We always choose the same room, front corner, which has windows looking directly out onto the small canal and another with a view towards the Grand Canal. It's a very small room, however, and tiny bathroom, and over five days, we felt cramped. A more serious problem, though, is that the furniture isn't "real," that is, there are tables with no drawers, cupboards with no shelves, no place to put anything. We never could really unpack and got tired of trying to rummage through our suitcases and sort table top heaps of necessaries. Night table drawers, hooks on the walls or doors, and most important, shelves in the empty space in the armoire would make an enormous difference.

I stayed for four nights over carnival, and I have to say: My stay at Hotel American-Dinesen was truly exceptional! From the delightful breakfast to the amazing coffee, everything was top-notch. The room was incredibly spacious, spotless, and so comfortable – a perfect blend of modernism, elegance, and relaxation. The view was lovely, and the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience. The location couldn't have been better – nestled in a peaceful area yet close to museums, a waterbus station, and St. Mark's Square. Honestly, I felt completely at home here. It was a memorable and wonderful stay, and I'd definitely stay again!

If I had to mention anything, it would be a couple of minor details with the furniture. The bathroom door frame showed some slight damage from the humidity, and the main door of my room tended to scratch the floor when opened. However, these were very small things, and didn’t detract from the overall experience and didn't bother me at all.

Our 4th visit to Venice and this Hotel, the team that work there and its location is, for us, perfection. This Hotel is, in our opinion, based in the the most beautiful area of Venice - Dorsoduro. The Guideca canal and the wonderful Zattere to your left, literally minutes away and the Guggenheim and Accadamia again literally minutes away to your right. The Hotel is beautifully presented, and the breakfast buffet offered a daily hot, cold, savoury and sweet feast. Great team who work there, over our 4 nights we were looked after by Nicolo and Andrea on Reception and Larry and his colleague in the breakfast room. Nothing was too much trouble. So sad to leave, Venice is beautiful, and Dorsoduro to us is the jewel in its crown.

boutique style hotel which was had a small reception area and right next to it was a small breakfast/bar area. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Bathroom was lovely and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Private taxi to Murano was a nice touch although at Murano they did try to get you to visit the glass factory. We would have done this if we had time and the people weren’t pushy. We had a balcony room overlooking the canal but in all honesty spent little time on it. Would have saved a bit if we hadn’t booked the canal view. The reality is we were hardly in our room. Hotel was in a good location. Approximately 15 mins walk to San Marco Plaza, 20 to Rialto bridge and 25/30 to train station. We enjoyed walking so it was good to wander round the city. Only 2/3 minute walk to closest boat stop.

Air conditioning unit didn’t seem to work properly although we never questioned this. Tv in the room was small and limited English channels but again we hardly watched it.

beautiful hotel,comfortable room and bed,amazing view from the balcony,in a quiet area,good selection of food for breakfast. perfect location,few minutes of walk towards the lagoon with a beautiful square,restaurants on the left,or to the right a few minutes to the accademia bridge and vaporetto stop to easily reach any part of the city.

The location was peaceful and quiet and beautiful, just off of the Grand Canal on a smaller canal, close to a variety of useful and tasty places to eat, and close to the Accademia Vapporeto stop and Accademia bridge, so all the popular sights were within easy reach. The breakfast was conveniently timed and absolutely delicious with a variety of options in a buffet style, from cereals, pastries, fruit, cold meats, to scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes, and great Cappuccinos. The staff were friendly and helpful and very professional and very easy to communicate with, even though we spoke no Italian!

It was perfect in every way.

Everyone was wonderful - friendly without being over the top or obsequious. The hotel was comfortable (A/C was so needed when we were there) and felt clean and elegant. The back terrace was lovely and felt like a little oasis. When we asked for suggestions we got good ones and the information we received (re. time needed at the airport, etc) was accurate and just what we needed.

There really wasn't anything we didn't like. We loved our stay here. If anything, it would have been great to have a way to cool the terrace (but it was 90*+)

This is a lovely little hotel with a boutique feel, situated on a canal in the Dorsoduro area of Venice. It was our first time staying in this hotel. The area is quieter than the more central region and we deliberately chose it as it is close to galleries and a bit out of the way. Our room was spacious and well decorated in a modern and more streamlined take of the Venetian style. The shower was very good and the bathroom was altogether very clean. The room was quiet at night so you could sleep well. We loved the breakfast which had plenty of choices with a variety of hot food items and a good fruit salad. The porter/breakfast server was lovely and he always remembered our coffee requests. Definitely a hotel to return to.

Fantastic location. Lovely room with a small balcony over looking a beautiful little canal and views back to the Grand Canal. The air conditioning was great given the hot weather. The staff were wonderful and the included breakfast was good and generous.

The room was upstairs and in a different but linked building to reception, so it was quite a convoluted walk from the lobby, and the lift wasn’t working. The concierge helped carry our bags to our room on arrival, but it was a bit of a struggle carrying them ourselves when we left. The room was quite expensive, but it is in a lovely heritage building in Venice in peak tourist season so none of this was unexpected.
