Friendly and super helpful staff! Great location, short walk up to gondola and down to the main town. Breakfast by the staff was a perfect way to start each big day.
What I’ve seen on some reviews is people have stayed here with the expectation they are staying in a hotel, the rooms aren’t cleaned and fresh bedding put out each day - if this bothers you then you need to rethink your choices, you can make your own bed you know. Also there was a complaint about the Onsen… not sure why, was a little old but looked clean as to me! Also there is so many Onsens in town so you’re spoiled for choice really.

This property felt like staying in a large ski lodge with the combination of private rooms and traditional Japanese elements. We were cozy, warm, could relax, play games, meet other guests or just relax in our own room. The room is large. The futons were the comfiest we had on our holiday in Japan. Henry and the staff team were extremely helpful and were always available for any question you may have. The shared bath facilities were good and had western style showers too, but there is also a mineral water onsen only around the corner which is wonderfully therapeutic after a days skiing. 10 min walk to everything: the slopes, the restaurants, the shops.
I wish we’d known about the ski rental discount offer earlier, as I’d already booked with another company before leaving for Japan. Shared toilet was fine and clean, but it would have been even nicer to have en suite.

Location was amazing, about a 5 minute walk to get to the key places we needed to be (ski lift, Onsen, main part of town). Lodge was very clean and it was nice to have the private bathroom, but we did end up going to the Onsens 3 out of 5 nights. Breakfast was good, varied selection and the beds/pillows were great. Will be coming back for sure.

Stayed for 12 nights in a western style room with shared bathroom.. Loved the staff and the breakfast. Location to the village and snowfields only 5 mins walk. Onsen and showers had nice pressure and hot water. Really relaxed feel about the place. Thanks Una for making us feel so welcome.

Breakfast had some typical western style items and some japanese style items. The quality of the breakfast was ok. Nothing exceptional, but you can't really expect more for the price. Futons are, like in the rest of Japan, pretty hard. House insulation is in general poor in Japan so on the windy days the thick and warm down duvet was nice to have. The value for money is rather good, and the in house onsen is excellent. Even though the house and facilities are old and worn I really enjoyed the stay. It is a 10 min downhill walk from the Nagasaka gondola. It was manageable in ski boots.
Rooms are pretty small. If you stay 4 people in the upper level quad rooms there are no room for luggage and lounging unless you keep it on your futon bed. The whole house had a smoke smell from wood- and kerosene burners which is used for heat.

Toemu Nozawa was a pretty authentic Japanese snow experience. The rroms had traditional tatami mats, were spacious and comfortable and the location was convenient to the main street. It's a little bit of a walk to the nearest gondola but overall the town is small enough to walk. Would recommend and stay there again.
Being a little more traditional, there aren't toilets in your room and the bathrooms are communal. This isn't something that bothers me, but I assume it would be for others.

Breakfast was buffet style and a great start to the day, rooms were a good size, bathroom was shared, but clean. It is a short walk into town and to the base of the gondola. The staff were accommodating.
Not much to dislike about the lodge, I would try and return the next time I go to Nozawa. I would possibly avoid the shared bathroom if anything on my next trip.

Great location half way between main street and Nagasaka Gondola. Comfy beds. Super filling breakfast that kept me going the whole day on the slopes. Friendly and helpful staff.
housekeeping could do with a lift - we were there 10 nights and requested it one day about halfway through but wasn't done. No biggie and didn't even raise it at the time.

Perfectly located with easy acess to both the ski areas and the town. The gondola, ski hire, shops, restaurants, everything is a short, easy walk from the lodge. Awesome breakfast, wonderful staff. The room, beds and doonas were all incredibity comfortable. This is the perfect base for a skiing holiday to Nozawa Onsen.

The staff was amicable and the breakfast was delicious! The location is also very near to the main ski slopes. The rooms were clean and there was also a private onsen which was a real bonus. They even have entertainment facilities such as a piano and table tennis table!
There were lots of stairs to climb especially if your rooms are on different floors.
