The staff are very happy to help, and acknowledge you when you enter and leave the building. They have lots of recommendations for activities to do in the area. The room was one of the most spacious that we stayed in within Japan. The attached Kanazawa Music Bar is a lovely spot to eat a filling dinner and grab a nice drink. There are lounging spots outside on the main level, as well as a small area on the 9th floor with 3 chairs - this provides a lovely sunset or nighttime view on a clear night. The location is excellent. It is found on a side street that is quiet despite all of the surrounding shops. Importantly, Kenrokuen Gardens, Kanazawa Castle, and central Downton is walkable. Recommend!

For awareness, the free common areas available for more than one person are largely: a small outdoor balcony on the 9th floor and the outdoor patio on the 1st floor (when the music bar is not open).

i just want to commend the staff for going above and beyond to make sure that my stay was comfortable!! they were always so polite, wishing you well when you go out and greeting you when you come back plus i really appreciated how the staff took care of forwarding my luggage to my next accommodation, making sure to call the next accommodation to make sure someone would be able to receive my luggage and then making it so that i could save a little bit of money as well cos i had to send two luggages. i would definitely recommend staying in this hotel and i would love to stay here again next time i'm in tokyo!!

The hospitality and kindness of the staff really stood out to me. The staff makes you feel so welcome. They have recommendations on virtually anything you can think of—whether food, sights, or activities. These staff recommendations were nice because it shows that the hotel itself values the individuals' perspectives. The music bar was great. The aesthetic was clean and the location was fantastic because I literally walked everywhere from the hotel. The bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable I've had the pleasure of sleeping on in Japan. And the rooms were really spacious.

Large room and generally everything was ok! Bed was super big for myself as a solo traveller. Location is close enough to the main attractions. However Kanazawa is quite spread out so you’ll have to take a bus or two to get to attractions further away. Concierge staff were always very sweet and polite :) even saw one wearing a pride flag pin woohoo

Cleaning was rather erratic and not totally clean, as well as the provision of water bottles— some days it was provided and some days not. Perhaps this is in line w their eco cleaning? It appears that the soaps are not refilled very often as I had one that was close to finishing 😅 Well, overall nothing super bad, but it is the small things.

We absolutely loved staying here! It's accessible to the train station, on a trendy street for window shopping and dining, has the most hospitable staff we have encountered, and the music bar downstairs isn't just the icing on the cake, it's the whole cake on its own. One of our rooms offered a sunrise view over the mountains and the other let us see the sunset over the city. A shared balcony offers a quiet spot for fresh air. Rooms feel airy and impeccably clean. I lost an article in town that made it's way back to the hotel, and staff went to great lengths to return it to me on the other side of the country. A true marvel of hospitality -- just watching the bartender work his art while the DJ painted the room with music was enough to make us yearn for a return to Kanazawa -- and an unforgettable experience.

Charming hotel with fairly spacious rooms. Loved that it was situated close to shops and restaurants but was tucked away in a little lane so it was nice and quiet. Staff was really warm and friendly, always eager to help. Just a short walk to Kenrokuen and Kanazawa castle. Nagamichi samurai district and the river close by to.

Loved everything except the ‘view’ from my window. It literally opened to the wall from the adjacent building so it felt rather claustrophobic. My boys’ room looked out to the city and that made all the difference. I would still stay here but if you prefer to look out, maybe put in a note to the hotel?

The location was great. It was on the Tatemachi street which is a mostly pedestrian little shopping alley. A very close walk to the Kenrokuen Park / Kanazawa Castle Park which basically everyone surrounds. Not a hard walk to Omicho market. We loved the vinyl bar on the ground floor and had some drinks there at happy hour everyday. Closed Sundays but open every other day 4pm - midnight. Cocktails so reasonably priced and really well done.

Loved the room - super spacious for Japan! Traveling with my daughter and the room had two full sized beds and a bath for us. The bar was fantastic to return to after exploring and everything was clean and spotless. Comfortable and safe for 2 female travelers in a town we had never been to. Location in the mall was brilliant, we found great vintage and food, and could walk to the Gallery and stores. Had to uber from Train Station but was only 10 minutes away.

Would be amazing if the bar downstairs served coffee all day, not just through the pre-booked breakfast. But plenty of other nearby places - it was just terrible weather the day we stayed and would have loved to sit and read in the bar with coffee!

Kaname Inn is a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel on a quiet, pedestrian only street that is walking distance to the Contemporary Art Museum, castle and garden. The corner rooms are particularly charming. Try to get a corner room on the 4th floor or above, but not on the top floor as it would trap heat. Bathrooms are a bit prefab feeling with low ceilings but scrupulously clean. The music bar with the DJ/vinyl records/hi-end speakers add a really fun vibe to the place. Pay attention to its days off as it would be a shame to miss this pleasure. The bar serves snacks and for the morning, you can order a boxed breakfast. The staff were extremely pleasant and charming.

Everything was consistent with the price point.

Even before I arrived, Rebecca at Kaname was thoughtful and advised us that over the New Year's holiday, a lot of the Kanazawa would be closed. She found us a great izakaya under a ten-minute walk - Appare - which made us feel taken care of and confident in our choice of booking. When we arrived on the 31st, I found Kaname to be located in a very central area, with easy access to all the major tourist attractions. I would also give the hotel's website a peruse so you can see all the interesting things you can do in Kanazawa. We had dinner at the bar the first night and it was wonderful. I was so pleased with my shrimp bisque pasta and the chocolate cake for dessert. There were also fun, house cocktails that were in theme with the music bar. The exemplary part of the stay was while the Ishikawa earthquake and the aftershocks to follow were occurring, the team at Kaname took the time to sit with guests who were nervous or scared and give come comfort and answers. They made sure to check in with everyone. They also assisted in the next steps for many of the guests - whether they were trying to leave Kanazawa or stay and cancel follow-up reservations. I can't praise the team enough. I would undoubtedly recommend this spot to anyone who is visiting the area.
